Urban Martial Saint

Even though the chanting of the True Buddha had ended, Great General Helian Tiehua still sat there with a face full of reverence, as if he hadn’t yet come back to his senses from the chanting.

In the garden, the expressions of the Purple Robe Lama, the Bloody Monk, and the Wolf Monk were very similar to Great General Helian Tiehua’s; the three of them were also obviously still immersed in the chanting. The sound of the True Buddha’s chanting seemed to possess infinite magic power, tightly attracting them.

This situation made Ye Qing even more surprised. Listening to the True Buddha’s chant only calmed his mind, but he didn’t feel this kind of enthrallment. What was going on with these four people?

At this time, the True Buddha in the courtyard seemed to have already known that Ye Qing was outside, and without turning his head, he softly said, ”You are here.”

With this voice, the four people who were previously entranced finally snapped back to reality. The three monks in the courtyard simultaneously turned their heads, and Helian Tiehua also looked at Ye Qing.

This made Ye Qing even more surprised. There were two people at the gate, and the True Buddha only said, ”You are here.” Why did everyone look at him? Could it be they understood that the True Buddha was speaking to him?

”Are you talking to me?” Ye Qing asked curiously while walking into the garden.

The True Buddha did not answer Ye Qing’s question but looked up at the three monks in front of him and said, ”Today’s lecture ends here. You may return, and tomorrow I will continue to preach to you!”

Sitting in front of the True Buddha were the Bloody Monk, the Purple Robe Lama, and the Wolf Monk, all the most powerful Peak Masters. Among them, especially was the Bloody Monk, who was the most rebellious and wouldn’t even listen to his brother Shijia. But towards this True Buddha, who is not even old enough to be the youngest of them, they were extremely respectful. Hearing the True Buddha’s words, the three got up together, bowed slightly to the True Buddha, and then turned and left.

Seeing the three act this way, Ye Qing couldn’t help being surprised. The naturally rebellious Bloody Monk was so respectful to the True Buddha? What kind of magic does this True Buddha have that can earn such respect from everyone under heaven?

The three monks walked out of the garden one after another. As the Bloody Monk reached the door, he nodded at Ye Qing without saying anything, leaving Ye Qing unsure of what he meant. Strangely, Helian Tiehua also left with them, as if the words of the True Buddha were meant for him.

This situation made Ye Qing even more puzzled. For a moment, he was left alone in the room, and just as he hesitated about whether to leave too, the True Buddha in the courtyard had already turned his head towards him.

”The cycle of revenge never ends. For Mr. Ye to let go of grievances is a good thing!” The True Buddha said softly.

”Ah?” Ye Qing was once again stunned. What did the True Buddha mean by this? What does he mean by letting go of grievances? Could he be talking about him seeking Bai Li Xi to detoxify Zhou Haoyang and Bai Yonghui? But this had just happened, and he had been sitting in the courtyard all along. How did he know about things that happened in the front courtyard from the back courtyard separated by a building?

The True Buddha didn’t explain to Ye Qing but got up and walked to the pavilion beside him. His stature was small, his body very thin, and from the back, he looked like a child. However, now anyone who looked at him would never see him as a child again. This reincarnated True Buddha is about to control the Brahmanism, representing the entire Brahmanism!

Ye Qing also walked into the pavilion, and facing this True Buddha, he didn’t know what to say. Although Broom Star was the child he adopted, he was no longer just a child, but the much-acclaimed True Buddha.

Ye Qing did not speak, but that did not mean the True Buddha would remain silent. After standing in the pavilion for a moment, the True Buddha suddenly said, ”Your mind is in turmoil.”

”I...” Ye Qing opened his mouth but didn’t know how to answer. As the True Buddha said, his mind was indeed in turmoil. The Fifteen Mount Tai agreement was approaching, and the battle between Fu Qingping and the Immortal Lord was about to begin. Meanwhile, rescuing Huangfu Ziyu had also reached a critical point. With all these matters piling up, how could his mind not be in turmoil?

The True Buddha softly continued: ”Treat everything with equanimity. What is meant for you will eventually be yours. What is not meant for you, what good is it even if you seize it?”

”What you said is like saying nothing at all!” Ye Qing said helplessly, ”They say the True Buddha can know all things past and future. Can you tell me what might happen with the things I worry about the most?”

”The future is full of variables, and knowing or not knowing changes nothing.” The True Buddha slowly shook his head and looked at Ye Qing, ”Especially for you, the variables are the greatest. Everything related to you is unpredictable. Your worries are exactly what I cannot gauge, and how can I give you an answer?”

Ye Qing hesitated for a moment and asked, ”Why are the variables around me the greatest?”

”That’s not how you should ask the question...” The True Buddha shook his head and said, ”You should ask why is it your body that harbors the strongest powers of Buddhist and Taoist Magic!”

”What do you mean?” Ye Qing was startled. Could it be that the True Buddha knew about the Buddha’s Relic, the Primal Mysterious Body, and the Devouring Demon Flower in him?

The True Buddha smiled faintly and said, ”I can’t explain in detail. Just remember, effort depends on people, and man can conquer nature.”

Ye Qing furrowed his brow and scratched his head. The True Buddha spoke as enigmatically as ever, revealing only half-veiled truths and making things even more perplexing. Especially this last statement: effort depends on people, and man can conquer nature. What did that mean? Was it chicken soup for the soul?

”Can’t you just speak without being so cryptic?” Ye Qing said, ”I know I have to try my best, and even if there’s a sliver of hope, I’ll seize it. But can’t you say something more practical, instead of keeping it so cryptic?”

”You’re mistaken!” The True Buddha shook his head, ”It’s not about seizing even a sliver of hope. It’s about creating hope even when there is none.”

Ye Qing’s expression changed slightly, staring at the True Buddha, saying, ”Are you saying that these two matters...are essentially hopeless?”

”I’m not speaking about those two matters.” The True Buddha sighed and said, ”Ye Qing, the matters at hand are not the most important, nor should they be your greatest concern. The future events are the most crucial and the ones that can lead to true despair. If you have no confidence even in these two matters, how can you handle the desperate future ahead?”

The True Buddha’s words were still vague to Ye Qing, but from them, Ye Qing gleaned some clues. According to the True Buddha, events in the future will be more despairing, and he wants Ye Qing to have confidence in facing those future events. Doesn’t that mean that currently, with these two matters, Ye Qing should have even more confidence?

Though unclear about what the True Buddha was truly thinking, Ye Qing didn’t ask more. Asking wouldn’t lead to results, and Ye Qing felt that he indeed was a bit lacking in confidence in this matter. No matter what, he would do his utmost. Regardless of the outcome, at least he had tried!

”By the way, when you were giving your lecture just now, it seemed to be quite effective for the Blood Robe Sect Leader and General Helian Taihua, was this a secret technique of your Brahmanism?” Ye Qing changed the subject; he was quite curious about the entranced expressions of the four people earlier.

”It should be said; it is a secret technique of the Buddhist Sect.” The True Buddha said, ”With the world in impending chaos, it’s time for them to advance in their realms!”

”Huh?” Ye Qing was astonished at the True Buddha’s words. What did he mean by it was time for them to advance in realms? What did advancing realms mean?

The enhancement Ye Qing understood was in terms of strength, like Fu Qingping, advancing from a Peak Master to Beyond The Pinnacle. The True Buddha spoke of raising the realms of the Bloody Monk and others; what did this mean? Could the True Buddha have the power to bring them to Beyond The Pinnacle? But how could that be? Could the True Buddha actually achieve such a thing?

In a moment of shock, Ye Qing hurriedly asked, ”Can you help them advance their realms?”

The True Buddha glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”I only know chanting.”

”What does that mean?” Ye Qing became even more puzzled; the True Buddha’s words were truly hard to comprehend.

The True Buddha replied calmly, ”The Buddhist Sect cultivates the mind; without a heightened state of mind, any amount of power remains useless!”

Recalling the expressions of the four people immersed in the True Buddha’s chanting, Ye Qing had a sudden realization and asked, ”So your chanting helps them enhance their state of mind?”

”I only chant. How much they can comprehend depends on their own insight!” The True Buddha said, looking at Ye Qing, ”But for you, it’s of no use.”

This indeed was true. Listening to the True Buddha’s chanting earlier, Ye Qing only felt a sense of peace, whereas the other four seemed completely absorbed—this was the difference. It seemed that Ye Qing couldn’t hope to gain any insight into the state of the mind through this.

”So, it seems I am not destined with Buddha.” Ye Qing said, curling his lips.

”It’s not that you aren’t destined with Buddha; you have a profound connection with Buddha!” The True Buddha paused for a moment and said, ”But you are not only destined with Buddha; you are equally destined with magic and Dao!”

Ye Qing scratched his head. This was understandable, considering he harbored the strongest powers of Buddhist and Taoist Magic. But being connected with Buddha, magic, and Dao, how was he supposed to enhance his strength?

”Though your connection with Buddhist, Taoist, and Magic paths is profound, your path doesn’t lie with them.” The True Buddha looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Should you forge your own path, you may create a new sect, a sect alongside Buddhist, Taoist, and Magic Paths!”

”Create a sect!” Ye Qing took a deep breath, his eyes widening. From ancient times, only Buddhist, Taoist, and Magic Paths have established sects. Throughout thousands of years, so many brilliant figures have failed to create a sect. Could he alone forge a sect that stood parallel with the Buddhist, Taoist, and Magic Paths?
