Urban Martial Saint

Listening to Gao Shibao’s words, the Xie Family Members felt even more awkward. Xie Cuizhi’s mother hurriedly walked over and said, ”Shibo, regarding the past, indeed we might have been a bit wrong. But what’s done is done, is there really a need to dwell on it? We came here to apologize; let’s just let bygones be bygones, and not bring it up again. You and Cuizhi still have feelings for each other, why not just live a good life together? After all, there’s still a child!”

”Child?” Gao Shibao glanced at Xie Cuizhi and said, ”Oh? Do your parents not know the child isn’t mine?”

Xie Cuizhi’s face turned redder; she indeed hadn’t mentioned this to her family.

”Ah?” Xie Cuizhi’s mother was a bit stunned, her father also widened his eyes, turned to Xie Cuizhi, and said, ”Whose... whose child is it?”

Xie Cuizhi lowered her head without speaking, her face flushed, extremely embarrassed.

Seeing her expression, the family immediately understood what was going on. Her father pointed at Xie Cuizhi, trembling with anger, ”You... you unfilial daughter, how could I have given birth to a daughter like you!”

”Oh dear, don’t blame the girl.” Xie Cuizhi’s mother tugged at her father and looked at Gao Shibao, ”Shibo, this... this matter is Cuizhi’s fault, but still, you two have been together for so long. Wu Keming has been sentenced now, and it’s unlikely he’ll ever come out. Cuizhi is raising the child alone, it’s really not easy. Can you really bear to see her suffer like this?”

Gao Shibao furrowed his brows and said, ”So it’s because Wu Keming was sentenced and there’s no one else to turn to that you come looking for me as a fallback? She’s having a hard time raising a child alone, so I should bear this silent suffering, wear a green hat, and take care of someone else’s wife and child?”

”This...” The Xie Family Members were suddenly at a loss for words; this matter indeed made them seem unreasonable wherever they went.

Xie Cuizhi anxiously said, ”Shibo, you... you were so good to the girl before. Even if she’s not your biological child, can you really bear to see her suffer?”

Gao Shibao glanced at the daughter beside Xie Cuizhi, feeling somewhat poignant. Though he knew she wasn’t his biological daughter, he had raised her since she was a child, and it was impossible not to feel attached.

After a moment of silence, he sighed deeply and said, ”If you can’t raise her, you can tell me, I can take care of her myself. However, I hope you, Xie Cuizhi, and your Xie Family Members, don’t show up in front of me ever again!”

Xie Cuizhi’s expression changed, staring at Gao Shibao, she urgently said, ”Gao Shibao, so you really don’t plan to reconcile with me, right?”

Gao Shibao turned his head to the side, not even bothering to speak with Xie Cuizhi. He couldn’t understand how thick-skinned this woman could be. When she cheated with Wu Keming, she arrogantly drove him away and even found people to beat him up. After the divorce, she had the audacity to come discuss feelings of marriage with him. Gao Shibao used to have feelings for her, but all those feelings were squandered away, now only hatred remained.

”Fine, if you won’t reconcile with me, then I won’t leave!” Xie Cuizhi sat down right at Gao Shibao’s doorstep and said, ”Gao Shibao, we’ll just wait it out like this. If you have the guts, don’t ever step into the house.”

”Gao Shibao, are you even a man?” Xie Cuizhi’s brother angrily said, ”My sister has apologized to you, what more do you want? She’s a girl, and it’s normal for girls to make some mistakes. Is this petty attitude what makes you a man?”

”I’m not arguing with you!” Gao Shibao calmly said, ”It’s just that we have no relationship anymore, so there’s nothing to argue about. Xie Cuizhi, please move aside. I want to go home. If you keep causing trouble here, I’ll have to call security to ask you to leave!”

”You ****** don’t threaten us with security!” Xie Cuizhi’s brother angrily said, ”Gao, let me tell you, if you don’t settle today’s matter, I’ll turn things bloody for you!”

Gao Shibao was completely speechless, this family couldn’t be persuaded with kindness, now they wanted to try force. He didn’t say anything more, directly taking out the keys and pressing the security button at the entrance, a standard practice in their community for calling security for assistance.

The Xie Family Members still weren’t aware that Gao Shibao had called someone, continuing to clamor about resolving this matter with him quickly. Gao Shibao didn’t respond, and in less than five minutes, five or six security guards walked over.

”Mr. Gao, how can we assist you?” The leading security guard asked.

Seeing the security guards, the Xie Family Members’ arrogance suddenly decreased a lot. Xie Cuizhi’s mother quickly smiled and said, ”Nothing, nothing, we’re just having a conversation among ourselves.”

The security guard ignored the Xie Family Members, only focused attentive on Gao Shibao.

”I don’t know these people, they’re blocking my doorstep, preventing me from entering.” Gao Shibao said, ”Could you please help me handle this?”

”Alright!” The security guard nodded, leading others to the Xie Family Members and saying, ”Excuse me, everyone, this is the staff residence of the City’s Finance Bureau, not convenient for outsiders’ access. So, kindly leave for now, if you wish to enter next time, please register at the entrance first, or else we will consider it trespassing, which can lead to detention.”

”Who are you scaring?” Xie Cuizhi’s brother angrily said, ”Isn’t this just a community? What’s the big deal about restricted entry? We’re not leaving, what can you do?”

The security guard slightly furrowed his brows and said, ”Please cooperate, or we may have to enforce to escort you out!”

”What enforcement, dare to try touching me!” Xie Cuizhi’s brother angrily said, ”Do you know who I am? Haven’t you heard of Beimen Jiuge?”

”Never heard.” The security guard bluntly said, ”Everyone, please cooperate.”

Xie Cuizhi’s brother: ”Stop the f *** nonsense. I’m not leaving, dare to touch me!”

The security guard didn’t say anything further, turning to signal to his colleagues. They also said nothing, directly grabbing each person to escort them out.

Xie Cuizhi’s brother attempted to resist, but was promptly pinned to the ground by two security guards.

”Hey hey hey, what are you doing? What are you playing at? Let me tell you, let go quickly, dare to lay a hand on me, I’ll deal with you! Let go, hey hey hey, that hurts, hurts, damn, really hurts...”

Xie Cuizhi’s brother grumbled, but no one paid him any mind, and the Xie Family Members were promptly escorted out by the security guards.

Watching them leave, Gao Shibao finally breathed a sigh of relief, went over to open the door and entered. Today’s situation caught him off guard; the shamelessness of the Xie family wasn’t something ordinary people could comprehend.

Meanwhile, Su Kaicheng hurried back to the Ministry of Security, where several key members were discussing the mercenary issue. These mercenaries had been in the domestic territory for quite some time but hadn’t been dealt with, causing a headache for the Ministry. Mind you, each of these mercenaries was equivalent to a rigorously trained Special Forces soldier; having so many mercenaries infiltrate was like having over two hundred fully armed Special Forces entering domestic territory, enough to give anyone a headache.

The key members were deliberating on how to eradicate these mercenaries. Though they were cooperating with the military, eliminating these mercenaries was no easy task. These mercenaries were heavily armed; even with military intervention, sacrifices were inevitable. Moreover, the mercenaries were hiding within the city, and rash action could easily harm innocent civilians, which was a major concern for both the military and the Ministry of Security. So, after two days of discussion, they had yet to find the best solution, and the issue remained unresolved.

Seeing Su Kaicheng enter, a leader immediately said, ”Kaicheng? Why are you back? Weren’t you recuperating? Is your injury okay?”

”Just superficial wounds, nothing serious!” Su Kaicheng smiled and said, ”Leaders, I’ve returned this time with an extremely crucial matter to consult with you.”

”What matter?” Everyone said inquisitively, seeing Su Kaicheng’s expression, they guessed it might be good news.

”It’s regarding the mercenary problem this time...” Su Kaicheng smiled and said, ”I’ve found the best person to solve it!”

”Oh?” Everyone was spirited; this was indeed their most pressing concern lately, how could Su Kaicheng possibly resolve it?

”Which military district’s personnel did you find to deal with them?” One leader anxiously asked, ”Have you figured out the tactics? These mercenaries are strong and heavily armed, we absolutely cannot underestimate them!”

Another leader added, ”Yes, extreme caution is necessary for this matter. Cities have many civilians, if innocents suffer, it’ll blow up!”

”No matter which military district personnel are brought to tackle this issue, I believe, it cannot be completely hushed up!” The third leader said, ”So, we need to apply for a maximum damage limit from the top, so that if damage does occur, we have something to report back.”

Hearing this, the other leaders fell slightly silent, knowing full well inside. The situation had escalated to a point where avoiding damage was impossible, the key issue being how much damage would occur. This was what they struggled with, not knowing how to proceed.

”No need for that.” Su Kaicheng laughed, ”Leave it to me to handle this, I will absolutely minimize the damage. Perhaps, there might be no damage at all. We won’t need to apply for a damage limit.”

”Are you kidding?” A leader immediately responded, ”Kaicheng, stop joking. We’ve been worried sick these past days, no time for jokes!”
