Urban Martial Saint

Although the female sorcerer was quite resilient, having her head chopped off meant she was absolutely beyond saving.

As soon as Ye Qing dealt with the female sorcerer, the child over there immediately stopped eating. After being in a daze for a moment, the child suddenly started vomiting uncontrollably, expelling everything they had ingested.

”The sorcery is resolved!” Yin Xianzi said softly.

Ye Qing hurried over to support the child, who had eaten a lot but didn’t vomit much. At first, some food came out, but eventually, it was only sticky bugs that fell to the ground, still wriggling, looking extremely disgusting.

”Are these bugs used to cultivate living corpses?” Ye Qing asked curiously.

”Of course not!” Ding Lianshun replied, ”These bugs are just used in the Great Food Descent, the real living corpse hasn’t appeared yet.”

Sure enough, not long after, the child vomited again, expelling something about the size of a palm that looked like an organ. This thing was covered in a thin layer of flesh membrane, looking very strange.

”What is this?” Ye Qing asked.

”This is what you call a living corpse!” Ding Lianshun observed the thing and said, ”This is actually an unformed placenta, extracted by the sorcerer using a unique method, then cultivated inside the child’s body. Once it grows, it replaces the child, becoming a new person. However, because this placenta was extracted prematurely, this person can’t be considered truly alive, hence it’s called a living corpse!”

”You just mentioned the sorcerer using unique techniques to extract these placentas...” Ye Qing frowned, asking, ”What do you mean by extracting? Is it directly taken from a pregnant woman’s body?”

”Yes!” Ding Lianshun nodded, saying, ”When a woman is three months pregnant, they extract this placenta, preserve it using a secret technique for future use in cultivating living corpses.”

”How would a pregnant woman allow them to extract the placenta?” Ye Qing asked urgently.

”Hmph, you clearly don’t understand these sorcerers!” Ding Lianshun sneered, saying, ”In Nanyang, powerful sorcerers can do whatever they want without anyone stopping them. Unlike Huaxia’s martial arts world, where someone will enforce justice when evil is done. Those sorcerers often experiment on humans to practice sorcery, enduring inhuman lives. To them, power means everything, killing and arson are nothing. After extracting these placentas, they often turn the pregnant woman into a puppet for their use. So these captured pregnant women are the most miserable, losing their unborn child and becoming puppets, a fate worse than death!”

Ye Qing’s face changed; he didn’t expect living corpses to be cultivated this way. This confirmed Divine Doctor An Shiping’s words: there’s absolutely no mercy for these sorcerers, killing them is the best solution.

Honestly, looking at the placenta, Ye Qing regretted killing the female sorcerer too directly. For the things they did, they should endure the greatest pain before dying. Killing them directly was too merciful!

”How can this placenta be preserved and grown after being extracted?” Ye Qing asked again.

”We don’t know how it’s preserved; it’s the sorcerer’s unique secret technique. As for how it grows, that’s thanks to these things!” Ding Lianshun pointed at the previously mentioned bugs, saying, ”These bugs are used in the Great Food Descent, also called maternal bugs. They attach to the placenta, supplying it with external nutrients to grow. The critical part is these maternal bugs absorb nutrients quickly. Once in the body, a person will eat like there’s no tomorrow!”

Ye Qing suddenly understood, finally connecting the Great Food Descent with the living corpse cultivation, becoming more wary of these sorcerers. Compared to them, Brahmanism’s monks were less terrifying; although they abducted children, they didn’t take lives. These sorcerers, however, were truly murderous and cruel!

After vomiting everything, the child slowly collapsed and fainted on the ground. Although they ate a lot in recent days, the maternal bug absorbed most of it for the placenta’s nourishment. Thus, the child looked malnourished and passed out after vomiting.

However, even though the child fainted, they weren’t in any life-threatening danger. With proper care over the next few days, they would completely recover.

The outside was now a total mess, chaotic beyond belief. Many people who heard the noise stayed hidden, sneaking peeks from their homes. They had no idea what was happening outside but knew someone was killed. Ye Qing vaguely heard police sirens approaching, feeling a bit speechless. Although their actions tonight saved lives, he couldn’t explain anything about the sorcerers to others.

With no other choice, Ye Qing called Zou Huanglong outside to handle the situation.

Xiao Xie’s couple and Zou Huanglong were anxiously awaiting in the basement, not sleeping all night. When called out by Ye Qing, Xiao Xie’s couple rushed out first, asking urgently, ”How... how’s my son? Is he okay?”

Once outside, they saw the child lying unconscious on the sofa, looking surprised. Their kid hadn’t slept much recently, eating continuously. Now that he stopped, they felt a sense of joy.

”The child is okay now; he just fainted from malnutrition. After some time, he will be fine!” Ye Qing explained to them.

”Can we go see him now?” Xiao Xie’s wife asked urgently.

”Of course, you need to look after him!” Ye Qing replied.

Hearing Ye Qing’s words, the couple almost simultaneously ran towards their child, completely disregarding everything else.

Ye Qing took Zou Huanglong to the courtyard, pointing outside for Zou to handle, ”Old Zou, you’ll need to take care of this.”

”Oh my god, what happened!” Zou Huanglong’s eyes nearly popped out. He had seen dead bodies but never in such a gruesome state. The courtyard had three corpses: one beheaded, one with its skull opened, and one gutted. Despite his military experience, he felt nauseous looking at this scene.

Ye Qing didn’t know how to explain it to him, only whispering, ”This is a Ministry of Security matter, highly confidential, no outsiders should know!”

”Oh?” Zou Huanglong perked up, asking, ”Is this a state secret?”

Ye Qing glanced at him, speaking softly, ”Old Zou, you should know some things can be asked about, and some can’t!”

”Oh, got it!” Zou Huanglong quickly waved his hand, saying, ”I made a mistake, made a mistake. Mr. Ye, is there anything I can do to help?”

Last night, Zou Huanglong learned about Ye Qing’s identity from the military department, knowing he was indeed part of the State Security Department. So, he didn’t doubt Ye Qing’s words at all.

”This issue can’t be leaked.” Ye Qing looked at the approaching police cars, speaking softly, ”Especially don’t let these clueless police blow things out of proportion, understand?”

”Understood!” Zou Huanglong nodded immediately, saying, ”Mr. Ye, don’t worry. In Shangang City, my words carry some weight; leave this to me.”

”That’s good!” Ye Qing smiled, having Zou Huanglong made handling this much easier.

Carefully, Zou Huanglong made his way out of the yard, avoiding stepping on the corpses, which was making his skin crawl.

Just as Zou Huanglong reached the entrance, the police cars entered the villa area. Seeing the police, some people rushed out, chattering and filing reports.

Ye Qing didn’t concern himself; with Zou Huanglong handling it, he didn’t worry.

Soon enough, Zou Huanglong returned to the room, smiling, ”Mr. Ye, it’s sorted out!”

”That’s good!” Ye Qing nodded, glanced outside, and curiously asked, ”Eh, aren’t those police cars still here?”

”Oh, they’re managing the scene,” Zou Huanglong said, ”There’s too many onlookers, so the police need to clear it up first. I’ve called the military to collect the bodies later. Mr. Ye, what should be done with them?”

”Be careful when handling them, don’t directly contact the bodies!” Ye Qing paused, saying, ”Take them away and incinerate them as soon as possible!”

”Understood!” Zou Huanglong replied straightforwardly since he had complete trust in Ye Qing’s actions, knowing he’s with the State Security Department.

Everything was about wrapped up by dawn, and the child awoke.

Seeing their son safe, Xiao Xie’s couple couldn’t hide their happiness, bringing the child to Ye Qing. They knelt and kowtowed, making Ye Qing feel a bit embarrassed. He hurriedly helped them up, wrote a prescription for restoring the child’s health, then bid farewell and left for the city with Zou Huanglong.

All the way, Zou Huanglong showed great respect for Ye Qing. The previous incident was understandable, but treating Xiao Xie’s child’s strange condition confirmed to Zou that Ye Qing really had extraordinary abilities.
