Urban Martial Saint

After putting down the phone, the officer immediately looked at the person next to him and shouted angrily: ”Contact the military for me and find out who sent those people. Why are they acting so recklessly? Such an undisciplined sudden attack—if it angers these mercenaries and injures the surrounding residents, who will be responsible for that?”

”Yes!” Someone immediately started making calls to contact their superiors. This sudden situation made everyone in the command center anxious, fearing that Ye Qing might have caused big trouble over there.

As for the officer, after giving the orders regarding this matter, he immediately grabbed the walkie-talkie and rushed out, heading straight for the residential house. The happenings here were mainly his responsibility, and naturally, he was the most worried. If there were major casualties, he would have difficulty explaining to those above him.

Just as he ran out of the temporary command center, a subordinate’s anxious voice came through the walkie-talkie: ”Officer, there’s an issue—another man and woman just entered that residential house!”

”A man and a woman?” The officer almost spat out: ”How did another man and woman appear? What’s the situation at the scene now?”

”The sniper just fired a shot, but...” the walkie-talkie suddenly paused, followed by an excited voice: ”Officer, the sniper has been taken down! The sniper has been taken down!”

”Who took him down?” The officer immediately stopped in his tracks, asking urgently: ”Were shots fired? Has there been a shootout at the scene?”

The subordinate replied: ”There hasn’t been a shootout yet; I don’t know how the sniper was taken down, but he fell from the rooftop and is definitely injured. There’s no gunfire heard from inside, and the exact situation remains unknown. Officer, should we storm in?”

”The sniper was taken down?” The officer was still absorbed in this matter. He knew very well the implications of a sniper being taken down in this kind of situation.

It’s important to note that in these mercenary squads, the sniper is the biggest trump card. Typically, snipers hide very well, able to control the whole situation—they are the most dangerous individuals. Generally, dealing with a sniper is almost the most difficult task. And now, the sniper fired just one shot before being taken down, this made his heart race.

Although he didn’t know how the opposing party took down the sniper, intuition told him that the few people who entered might potentially deal with all the mercenaries. If that’s truly the case, it would be the best news. This matter had already driven them to exhaustion, and even in dreams, they were figuring out how to solve it. If they could resolve these mercenaries without loss—it’d be like a huge pie falling from the sky directly onto their heads.

”What’s the situation now at the scene?” Finally coming back to his senses, the officer immediately asked anxiously.

”Not sure, it’s probably still ongoing inside, but there’s no sound, and nobody’s shooting,” the subordinate said: ”Officer, should we storm in?”

”No need!” The officer immediately said: ”Follow my order, guard all exits at once, and absolutely do not allow those mercenaries to leave. Meanwhile, immediately evacuate the surrounding residents to minimize damage!”

”Yes!” The subordinate responded, rushing off to carry out these tasks.

With the walkie-talkie in hand, the officer hurriedly headed toward the scene. The reason for not letting his men storm in was that he was playing a small game in his mind. Although he suspected the three individuals who entered might solve the mercenaries, nobody could say for sure about such a thing.

If those three can’t handle the mercenaries, those mercenaries would undoubtedly retaliate desperately, and innocent people would surely be harmed. In such a situation, if his subordinates went inside, he’d have to shoulder responsibility for any mistakes. However, if his men didn’t go in, even if casualties occurred, it would be the reckless actions of those three that caused it, and he wouldn’t have to take the heat. On the contrary, if those three indeed dealt with these mercenaries, he’d have earned credit for evacuating the nearby civilians. Either way, he wouldn’t bear responsibility and could still take credit—why not?

Outside the residential house, the soldiers had surrounded it tightly, vigilantly guarding against anyone inside coming out. However, there was absolutely no movement inside, leaving the people outside in the dark about what was happening inside, waiting anxiously.

In fact, inside the residence, the situation had already been completely controlled. Of the thirteen mercenaries, nine were directly killed, and the four who were still alive were severely wounded and incapable of any resistance.

Ye Qing sat leisurely at the table eating fruit; he had only taken down one person among the thirteen mercenaries, the rest had nothing to do with him. Having observed the terrain carefully, Ye Qing didn’t hesitate and attacked immediately. He targeted the first sentry, shooting him down from the rooftop and rushing into the courtyard.

Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun were closely protecting Ye Qing, and seeing Ye Qing suddenly attack these people, though unsure of the situation, they quickly rushed over. As a result, as the two jumped into the courtyard, they saw several mercenaries charging toward Ye Qing, guns in hand. With no time to think, they each displayed their unique skills, using hidden weapons to knock the guns out of the mercenaries’ hands, leaving them no chance to fire.

Upon seeing Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun come in, Ye Qing immediately felt relieved, and as the two began their attack, he stood idly by, enjoying the spectacle without helping them. After all, given the prowess of these two, dealing with the mercenaries was an easy task!

Upon entering, Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun focused on those besieging Ye Qing without having the time to assess their surroundings, when the sniper hidden on the rooftop fired a shot. However, the bullet didn’t hit anyone, merely shocking them both. Their first thought was that Ye Qing had deliberately set up an ambush to kill them, prompting them to attack ruthlessly.

The sniper was taken down by Ding Lianshun with a pebble, landing headfirst on the ground, causing instant death. As for the remaining mercenaries, they hadn’t made it out of the rooms before being slaughtered by Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun who stormed in first, killing thirteen in total—nine dying at the hands of the enraged duo, while the remaining four lay severely injured, showcasing the ferocity of their attacks.

Having dealt with all the mercenaries, Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun turned around furiously, glaring at Ye Qing.

”Ye, just using trash like them to ambush us two, you’re really overestimating yourself!” Ding Lianshun spoke coldly.

”Mr. Ding, you’ve misunderstood.” Ye Qing chuckled: ”I didn’t plan an ambush; it’s just that these people have some grudges against me, and I came seeking revenge. They mistook both of you as my allies and started attacking you. Fortunately, I had your help; otherwise, I could hardly deal with so many alone!”

Hearing this, Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun were visibly taken aback, then glanced at each other, their expressions turning dark as Ding Lianshun shouted angrily: ”Ye, you purposely lured us to help settle your enemies?”

”Ah, you can’t say that!” Ye Qing laughed: ”I didn’t lure you; you followed me. When I left Shenchuan City, I didn’t notify you both.”

Ding Lianshun nearly burst with anger, realizing Ye Qing had engineered their involvement to handle his mercenaries. They were used as pawns to eliminate Ye Qing’s foes unknowingly, feeling hard done by to have become Ye Qing’s free muscle. Notably upset about all this, they had to endure the unhappy task of protecting Ye Qing, further exacerbated by unwillingly aiding him against numerous enemies, they felt profoundly unbalanced.

But though furious, they couldn’t do anything against Ye Qing. He was sitting right there; they dared not harm him in any way. However, securing Ning Qianshu’s acquisition of Divine Doctor An Shiping’s legacy remained paramount, meaning they had to swallow their grievances before Medicine King Mountain opened up.

”Ye, you’re pretty calculating!” Yin Xianzi gritted her teeth, speaking slowly: ”We’ll see how long you can remain arrogant!”

”I wouldn’t call it arrogance, but anyway, thanks for both of your help tonight,” Ye Qing stood up, smiling, ”Why don’t you both rest a bit while I handle some errands. Next up is our trip to Shangang City, should I book you tickets for that?”

”You… why are you going to Shangang City?” Ding Lianshun’s voice trembled slightly, sensing no good would come from this move.

”Hehe, you’ll find out upon arrival,” Ye Qing chuckled: ”If you decide to continue accompanying me, I’ll get the tickets for you. If not, I’ll go alone!”

Exchanging glances, Ding Lianshun and Yin Xianzi definitely didn’t want to travel with Ye Qing—but had little choice. Ensuring Ye Qing’s absolute safety required them to follow him wherever he went.

”Damn, we don’t need your help!” Ding Lianshun shouted angrily.

”Really?” Ye Qing smiled faintly: ”Tickets are quite hard to come by just now; are you sure you don’t want my help?”

”You…” Ding Lianshun was about to speak, but was stopped by Yin Xianzi’s raised hand.

”Let him buy them,” Yin Xianzi sighed, ”otherwise we’ll have the hassle of buying tickets at the airport.”

Considering this, Ding Lianshun felt Yin Xianzi was right, ending up wordless, acknowledging defeat.
