Urban Martial Saint

The Wu Hong Dagger was a famed instrument given to Ye Qing by Liu Mubai for self-defense. Although not as renowned as the Seven-Star Ancient Sword, it was still a notable weapon with considerable power.

As he slashed down, Ye Qing felt as if the Wu Hong Dagger had pierced into a pile of rotting flesh, facing no resistance at all, and sliced straight through. Moreover, a pungent stench rushed into Ye Qing’s nostrils, nearly causing him to faint due to the unexpected assault.

However, this move didn’t stop the shadowy figure in the slightest. Despite a deep gash opening in the figure’s body, it continued to extend its arms towards Ye Qing’s neck.

Ye Qing hurriedly drew back the Wu Hong Dagger, attempting to block, but just then, another shadow figure lunged at him from the left. Ye Qing, with no time to think, could only slash fiercely at the nearest shadow.

The shadow on the left had its arms severed by Ye Qing’s dagger, releasing yet another wave of stench, but it wasn’t as overpowering as before. Unfortunately, the shadow in front of Ye Qing had already grabbed his neck, and from this close, Ye Qing could clearly see its features.

The face belonged to a seemingly innocent man, but when he opened his mouth to bite at Ye Qing’s neck, his face twisted into a hideous snarl. He resembled a zombie, driven by nothing but a ravenous hunger!

Even with Ye Qing’s courage, this man’s sudden attack startled him. He wanted to withdraw the dagger to defend himself, but shadows from both sides surged forth, trapping Ye Qing completely, leaving him powerless to resist.

At this tense moment, a long whip suddenly lashed out, first striking the shadow on Ye Qing’s left, sending it flying. The whip then quickly spun, enwrapping the shadow on the right, hurling it aside, and smashing into two other approaching shadows, finally breaking Ye Qing free from the crisis.

Ye Qing himself thrust the Wu Hong Dagger directly into the mouth of the human puppet before him, shattering all its teeth. Even so, the human puppet still desperately lunged to bite Ye Qing. As Ding Lianshun had said before, these human puppets felt no pain and were relentless in their attacks, akin to beasts.

”Ye Qing, don’t slash anywhere else, focus on severing their limbs!” came Yin Xianzi’s voice from behind. She too was surrounded by shadows. However, she was handling it much more easily than Ye Qing, wielding the long whip skillfully, keeping the shadows at bay and even able to assist Ye Qing when needed.

Ye Qing, overwhelmed earlier by the onslaught, hadn’t had time to think of anything else. Hearing Yin Xianzi’s advice, he immediately reacted, raising the Wu Hong Dagger to sever the arms of the shadow in front of him.

The shadow lost its hands but still frantically lunged at Ye Qing, trying to bite him. However, without teeth, it couldn’t harm Ye Qing.

Ye Qing sidestepped to avoid the shadow as two more shadows rushed forward. This time, Ye Qing learned quickly, rolling on the ground towards their feet and using the Wu Hong Dagger to sever their legs completely.

The two shadows collapsed to the ground without their legs, but still ferociously clawed the ground with their hands, trying to reach Ye Qing. However, on their hands, they couldn’t possibly catch up with him.

Having gained an advantage with this move, Ye Qing continued to roll on the ground, using the Wu Hong Dagger to hack at these human puppets’ legs. All the while, he cradled the child behind him to ensure it wasn’t crushed during his tumbling.

Yin Xianzi found it much easier than Ye Qing and laughed as she watched, saying, ”That’s quite a method you’ve got there.”

Ye Qing couldn’t even respond to Yin Xianzi; though he was rolling on the ground, dodging the attacks and bringing down the human puppets, it seemed that their numbers around him weren’t diminishing. On the contrary, they appeared to be increasing. If they continued like this, they would be completely surrounded by human puppets, and then they’d truly be in danger.

Moreover, what worried Ye Qing the most wasn’t his own safety. His greatest concern was that they had yet to find the sorcerer, and dawn was fast approaching. If they continued to delay, the child he was holding would be doomed.

”Yin Xianzi, maybe you should look for the switch too!” Ye Qing seized the chance to urge her, ”I can handle myself here; we shouldn’t just wait in vain. We must change the situation quickly, or the kid is as good as dead!”

Yin Xianzi frowned slightly, thinking Ding Lianshun had been gone for nearly five minutes. By rights, it shouldn’t take so long to find the light switch. Moreover, upon listening closely, Ding Lianshun’s voice was absent. What was going on?

”Cyclops! Cyclops!” Yin Xianzi called loudly, but there was no answer at all in the factory.

”Huh?” Ye Qing wondered aloud, ”Where’s Mr. Ding?”

Yin Xianzi was also full of surprise. In this situation, where could Ding Lianshun have gone? With his strength, these human puppets shouldn’t have been able to hurt him. What on earth happened? How could he not be inside this factory?

”Cyclops, where have you gone!” Yin Xianzi shouted loudly once more.

Still no answer, but suddenly, a beam of light shone in from outside the door. In such darkness, this suddenly appearing light made Ye Qing feel dizzy for an instant. He hurriedly shielded his eyes with his hand and looked carefully. Outside the door, it turned out to be a car with its headlights on, casting light into the factory.

”What’s going on?” Yin Xianzi asked in surprise, ”Ding Lianshun, what are you doing?”

Ye Qing was also astonished. He too saw that it was indeed Ding Lianshun sitting in the car.

Ding Lianshun drove the car to the factory door, aimed the headlights at the factory, and then jumped in from outside, directly kicking two human puppets away from Ye Qing’s side, loudly saying, ”The lights in here won’t turn on. I think that sorcerer cut the wires. However, when I came in, I saw there was a car outside, so I ran out to turn on the car lights to shine some light.”

Ye Qing and Yin Xianzi suddenly understood. So Ding Lianshun went out to turn on the car lights just now; no wonder no one answered when they called.

The car lights were very bright. Although they did not illuminate a wide area, with such light, the three of them could now see everything inside the factory.

Indeed, it was unexpected. As they looked around, they were shocked. In the darkness before, none of them knew what the surrounding environment was like. Now with the light, they could finally see everything around them. The entire factory was densely packed with those human puppets. Each human puppet had a single expression, looking at the three in the middle like voracious beasts eyeing delicious food.

”Where did so many human puppets come from!” Ding Lianshun shouted, even he was shocked. The factory is very large, and it was full of people inside, at a glance at least two to three hundred people, far exceeding their previous estimate of over one hundred people. No wonder the chaos just now was so difficult to deal with. So many human puppets could easily suffocate the three of them by sheer crowding.

Yin Xianzi furrowed her brows tightly. She looked at the child Ye Qing was holding and said solemnly, ”It looks like this child won’t be saved today!”

Ye Qing’s face was very grim. So many human puppets, all of whom were once living people, now reduced to walking corpses which made his murderous intent soar to the extreme.

”Where is that sorcerer?” Ye Qing said in a deep voice, ”Why isn’t he here?”

”He’s definitely hiding somewhere, manipulating all these human puppets to deal with us!” Ding Lianshun said in a deep voice.

Ye Qing bit his lip, placing the child on the ground, and said in a deep voice, ”Mr. Ding, Yin Xianzi, I need you to protect me for a bit; I must find that sorcerer first!”

Seeing Ye Qing like this, Yin Xianzi slightly frowned and said, ”Ye Qing, don’t waste your energy. With so many human puppets, the two of us can’t protect you effectively. You simply can’t break out!”

”How do we know it’s useless until we try!” Ye Qing gripped the Wu Hong Dagger tightly and said in a deep voice, ”Mr. Ding, Yin Xianzi, please!”

The two exchanged a glance, sighed simultaneously, and nodded, saying, ”Okay, we’ll help you this time. Ye Qing, be sure to keep safe; we can’t guarantee we can fully protect you!”

With that, the two rushed forward, clearing the human puppets standing in front of Ye Qing, and began to pave the way for him.

The child who had smelled the Seeking Descent Incense earlier was still under its effect, starting to lead the way for Ye Qing. Following the child, under the protection of Ding Lianshun and Yin Xianzi, Ye Qing began to search for the sorcerer.

Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun also held nothing back now, striking with full force to help Ye Qing remove obstacles on the road ahead. However, there were simply too many human puppets, and they did not feel pain nor get injured, so it was quite difficult for the two to fight them. After tussling for quite a while, they hadn’t gone far, and Ye Qing nearly got pounced on twice by the human puppets.

At this moment, a faint whistle suddenly came from afar. Hearing the whistle, the surrounding human puppets seemed to go crazy, rushing towards the three in the middle like a tide. Previously they attacked with restraint, but now it was as if they had been injected with stimulants, frantically pouncing toward the three.
