Urban Martial Saint

”What!?” Zou Huanglong’s eyes nearly popped out, what did unconditional assistance mean? The military personnel here have become Ye Qing’s assistants? How is that possible?

It’s known that the Military Department holds great power, and wouldn’t compromise with any department, nor would it become a supporting role for any department. And yet, this time, the Military Department issued such a command, which was beyond everyone’s expectations, especially for Zou Huanglong.

”Say that again!” Zou Huanglong exclaimed in astonishment.

”The higher-ups said we must unconditionally assist Captain Ye in his tasks!” The soldier repeated the original words once more.

Zou Huanglong was completely stunned, the soldier’s message was certainly not wrong, meaning this was truly the decision from above? To have the military personnel assist Ye Qing in his tasks? Doesn’t this mean the Military Department has become a background element? What are the higher-ups thinking? Moreover, does this Ye Qing have the capability to handle this matter?

Meanwhile, at the Capital National Security Department, several key leaders were also sitting by the phone, anxiously waiting for news from Shangang City.

At this time, they should have left work and gone home. In fact, they had indeed left work but later rushed back to the office. The main reason for their return was that Ye Qing effortlessly resolved the mercenaries in Chang Yuan City!

Upon receiving this news, the leaders immediately rushed back and also called Su Kaicheng over. Although they knew beforehand that Ye Qing had the assistance of a Peak Master, capable of resolving the mercenary crisis, each of them was still somewhat worried. And tonight’s incident in Chang Yuan City confirmed Ye Qing’s capability, leaving them incredibly excited.

Understand that this mercenary issue is significant; the higher-ups are highly concerned. Both the Military Department and State Security Department are involved in addressing this matter, indicating how seriously the higher-ups regard it. However, neither the Military Department nor the State Security Department had yet found a suitable resolution, bearing considerable pressure from both sides. At this time, Ye Qing effortlessly resolved the mercenaries, essentially alleviating their biggest challenge, one can imagine their relief.

Moreover, crucially, Ye Qing is a member of the State Security Department. His resolution of the mercenaries means the State Security Department handled the mercenaries issue, and certainly, the credit would fall on the State Security Department. Thus, the leaders at the State Security Department hold high regard for this matter.

Learning that Ye Qing directly purchased a plane ticket to Shangang City, their first speculation was whether Ye Qing was heading to Shangang City to handle the mercenaries there. Hence, they stayed without heading home, waiting, to provide Ye Qing identity documentation if he indeed moved.

Unexpectedly, after reaching Shangang City, Ye Qing directly dealt with the mercenaries. However, this time his approach differed; he first consulted with the Military Department, which then contacted the State Security Department. Considering Ye Qing’s swift handling of the mercenaries in Chang Yuan City, the State Security Department had total trust in Ye Qing, handing over the authority, thus leading to the Military Department’s command to Zou Huanglong.

”The Military Department also appears overwhelmed by the mercenary situation!” said one leader with a laugh, ”Usually, gaining command is almost impossible. This time, the Military Department directly ceded authority, letting them assist Ye Qing unconditionally; it seems they too wish to resolve the mercenaries swiftly.”

”Indeed!” another leader chuckled, ”The Military personnel are also helpless against the mercenaries, if unresolved, the Military Department surely bears responsibility. If we are willing to fully take charge, they’d be delighted. If unsuccessful, the accountability rests with us, not them, making it a win-win situation!”

”Hehehe...” the third leader laughed, ”However, if Ye Qing can resolve the mercenaries, all the credit goes to our State Security Department. Then the military officers watching us receive medals will definitely be fuming with anger!”

The group laughed; in many missions, there is overlap between the State Security Department and Military Department, occasionally resulting in competition for credit. However, due to transparency issues, the State Security Department often finds operations less convenient than the Military Department, having lost out before, leaving a pent-up frustration among them. This time, Ye Qing finally relieved the frustration for the State Security Department, giving them a sense of triumphant relief!

”Let’s not celebrate too early!” the final leader solemnly remarked, ”Most importantly is that Ye Qing successfully resolves the mercenaries, without any mishaps. Any incidents could be troublesome!”

The crowd also stowed their laughter, as the concern expressed was indeed their primary worry. Although Ye Qing had proven his ability in Chang Yuan City, there remained inevitable anxiety given the gravity of the situation.

”No worries, the outcome will emerge soon enough!” the leader at the forefront observed the phone on the table, saying, ”I trust Ye Qing’s capability, he’s surely able to accomplish this task!”

The rest watched the phone, awaiting the outcome from Ye Qing’s side, each on edge. Should Shangang City’s endeavor succeed, it will once again affirm Ye Qing’s capability, ensuring no further concern.

In Shangang City, upon receiving the Military Department’s message, though deeply shaken, Zou Huanglong had no choice but to obey the orders, fully assisting Ye Qing.

”Mr. Ye, we’ve just received orders from the Military Department; we will fully assist you in dealing with this matter!” Zou Huanglong said, looking at Ye Qing, resuming his calm demeanor, ”Do you have any plans, or anything you need from the Military Department?”

”Didn’t I already tell you my plan?” Ye Qing responded, puzzled, ”Did you forget? I said, go straight in and kill those mercenaries!”

”This...” Zou Huanglong looked at Ye Qing, seeing he wasn’t joking, he held back the urge to stop him. He sighed deeply, saying, ”Mr. Ye, who are going in to kill those mercenaries? Our military personnel, or your State Security personnel? Mr. Ye, pardon me, I must remind you. Though the Military Department orders us to assist you with this matter, it’s merely assistance and not leadership; everything here is now fully handed over to the State Security Department. So if anything goes wrong, the Military Department bears no responsibility, the State Security Department bears it all!”

Zou Huanglong’s words were implicitly advising Ye Qing to be prudent. Otherwise, should anything occur, the Military Department bears no liability, he must bear responsibility!

”I understand!” Ye Qing nodded, saying, ”No need to trouble the Military personnel, we’ll manage ourselves.”

”You?” Zou Huanglong glanced at Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun, frowning slightly, ”Mr. Ye, when are the State Security personnel arriving here?”

”Are State Security personnel coming?” Ye Qing asked, confused.

”Aren’t they?” Zou Huanglong was even more perplexed.

”No idea,” Ye Qing replied.

”No idea?” Zou Huanglong exclaimed in shock, ”How do you not know? If State Security personnel aren’t coming, how will you deal with those mercenaries?”

”Oh, you’re talking about that.” Ye Qing chuckled, ”You’re mistaken, State Security personnel won’t come to assist me, when I say going in, I mean just us three.”

”Just you three?” Zou Huanglong took another look at Yin Xianzi and Ding Lianshun.

Zou Huanglong’s manner was already courteous, mentioning difficulty, but in his mind, Ye Qing and his two companions entering meant certain death.

”That’s no problem, there’s no need for worry.” Ye Qing smiled, ”Officer Zou, I do need a favor from you.”

”What’s the favor?” Zou Huanglong asked, curious.

”Send some people to guard all exits of this residence, if any mercenary flees, kill them immediately!” Ye Qing smiled, ”Better safe than sorry, once someone escapes amidst chaos, controlling the situation will be tough!”

Zou Huanglong said seriously, ”Should someone indeed come out, I fear we can’t control it. These mercenaries are well-equipped, throwing a random bomb could cause substantial casualties!”

”We’ll try to control this aspect, just a request for you to oversee outside. If nothing unexpected occurs, escape is impossible for these people!” Ye Qing stated.

”Really?” Zou Huanglong glanced at Ye Qing with a hint of sarcasm, thinking in his mind that Ye Qing was outright boasting.

”Since you’re so confident, we’ll handle the outside.” Zou Huanglong replied, ”Military orders are to assist you fully, Mr. Ye, do you need anything else, feel free to ask!”

Ye Qing pondered, ”Could you assist by booking three tickets to Changshui City for us? The earlier, the better!”
