Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 148: Chapter 137: Wanting to Cling to a Big Thigh

Looking at Xu Tianyi’s profile, Luo Qianqian felt like maybe she was too mature inside? Was she subconsciously marking Xu Tianyi as part of her territory?

Right after school, Luo Qianqian made up an excuse and ran off. Xu Tianyi, amused by her peculiar behavior, chuckled, grabbed his backpack, and headed to the Luo Family’s home on his own. After all, compared to a warm meal, instant noodles were just too lousy, plus he was still unwell. He didn’t mind the little girl’s conscious or unconscious approach.

”Jingjing, are you there yet?” She had texted Zhang Jingjing in the afternoon, and as soon as she got out, she quickly made a call to a conspicuous spot.

”Almost there,” Zhang Jingjing hung up the phone, and within three minutes, she saw the black sedan from the Zhang family appear at the school gate.

”What’s up?” Zhang Jingjing looked at Luo Qianqian with some confusion. Since starting school, Luo Qianqian had never initiated contact, and it seemed like she might have encountered a problem?

Luo Qianqian looked up at Zhang Jingjing somewhat awkwardly. ”Jingjing, what does it mean if I subconsciously treat someone nicely without any ulterior motive and also hope they’re doing well?”

Zhang Jingjing’s eyes widened in surprise. ”What? What did you say?”

”It’s just, there’s this guy, and I feel he’s different from others, and I always want to watch over him.” Luo Qianqian said, realizing something belatedly, ”Don’t tell Xiao Yu and the others.”

”Who? Who could make our Luo, the talented young lady fall for young love?” Zhang Jingjing pressed her phone, then looked up after a long pause, meeting Luo Qianqian’s puzzled and somewhat indecisive gaze, before she slowly said, ”If you like him, just get closer to him. You’re still young, and there’s plenty of time to see a person clearly. Wait until you’re an adult to decide whether you want to be together if he’s worth it.”

Luo Qianqian suddenly remembered her current age and couldn’t help but smile wryly; she was overthinking it. ”I’m a bit panicky.”

”From what I see, you can’t tell if it’s liking, admiration, or even sibling affection. You should read more of those novels that Xiao Yu has; many young loves are misjudged between sibling affection and romance,” said Zhang Jingjing after hesitating for a moment.

Luo Qianqian was stunned for a while, then nodded, ”You’re right; I’m still young, so it’s okay to take my time to figure it out, slowly verifying whether I like him or not.”

”That’s fine then,” Zhang Jingjing replied, watching the clouds of worry clear from Luo Qianqian’s brow before she slowly asked, ”Last time you asked me to help you cover for being at my place, what exactly were you doing?”

”Nothing much, don’t worry, it was something good,” Luo Qianqian naturally wouldn’t be foolish enough to blurt out that she’d spent the whole night taking care of a boy.

”By the way, I heard from Xiao Yu that your so-called Scholar God eats at your place every day? And you even ask Xiao Yu to stew soup daily?” Zhang Jingjing saw Luo Qianqian had lightened up, her gossip instinct kicking in.

Luo Qianqian was embarrassed, how could she have forgotten, human beings love gossip: ”Yeah, of course, as tuition, it’s natural to cook good meals to reward him. Otherwise, I would actually have to pay money?”

Zhang Jingjing knew about Luo Qianqian’s money-loving nature, as usually, all the money of the Luo siblings was in Luo Qianqian’s hands.

”By the way, our school teachers have strictly warned against puppy love. If found, it will be recorded as a demerit,” Zhang Jingjing said gloomily, ”There are already two couples in our class, and everyone is helping to keep it secret.”

”...So they understand what love is at twelve or thirteen years old?” Luo Qianqian, who inwardly still feels like a teenager in her twenties, quietly watched the landscape whizzing by the car window. Her heart was somewhat perplexed, Xu Tianyi—she knew who he was. He was a genius she should have had no chance to meet, yet paradoxically, he had come to her city. As for her future path, Luo Qianqian had always been determined, but now she was somewhat bewildered.

”You, a nine-year-old kid, talking about others—you better not fall in puppy love, or your brother might just storm First Middle School,” Zhang Jingjing thought for a moment before adding, ”Wait until you graduate, I’ll introduce you to some handsome and rich guy.”

”You’re overthinking it,” Luo Qianqian was stunned, then burst into laughter.

”You have many ideas, but as my mom used to say, women turn into fools when they fall in love, diving headfirst regardless of the bruises, still hopeful until despair makes them look back,” Zhang Jingjing sighed, ”Also, my dad said now’s not the time for me to think about these things. As long as I do well, better things will come naturally.”

Better than Xu Tianyi? Luo Qianqian chuckled and shook her head. His intelligence was unmatched, he was also good-looking. Other than his current poor health, there was nothing undesirable about him. With better nutrition, neither his physique nor his height needed to be worried about. But why had she never heard about such an outstanding person in her previous life? Luo Qianqian puzzled over this, yet thought about the big star she had admired in her previous life who turned out to be her cousin in this life. Such was fate.

”I know what I want, don’t worry,” Luo Qianqian chuckled lightly at Zhang Jingjing.

”You’re decisive. Either way, I’m your friend, and no matter what happens, I’m behind you. Just don’t mess up,” Zhang Jingjing sighed, looked at the familiar scenery outside the car window, and then said, ”Aren’t you getting off? You want me to drop you at your doorstep?”

”Oh, here we are,” Luo Qianqian picked up her schoolbag, ”I’ll treat you to a meal another day. Remember to keep today’s events a secret.”

Then, after parking the car and closing the door stylishly, she waved at Zhang Jingjing inside, watched her leave, and stood at the entrance of the complex waiting for the boy who was still on his way.

Xu Tianyi arrived at the entrance of the complex and was somewhat surprised to see the familiar figure. Wasn’t she in a rush earlier? Why was she here? Could she be waiting for him?

”Luo Qianqian,” Xu Tianyi called out softly.

Luo Qianqian looked up, saw the familiar figure, and breathed a sigh of relief, ”Why did you take so long? I’ve been waiting forever.” Saying so, she grabbed Xu Tianyi and walked toward her home.

”What’s with you today?” Xu Tianyi looked at the slightly blushed faced girl, full of confusion. Despite being quite mature himself, that didn’t mean the girl in front of him, who was not even ten yet, was an early bloomer. He simply attributed it to a little girl throwing a tantrum. Having experienced so much, seen too much mockery, disdain, and two-faced people, it was easy for him to see that the girl in front of him was hiding something. But he wasn’t Luo Shufan; he didn’t feel the need to pry.

”It’s nothing,” Luo Qianqian gritted her teeth, ”Xu Tianyi, what kind of person do you think you are?”

What kind of person? Xu Tianyi was stunned and stopped in his tracks. What kind of person was he? ”Some smart, not likable, selfish, cold-hearted...what else?” Xu Tianyi looked up at the sky, ’Grandma, how are you doing, have you gotten better?’

Luo Qianqian frowned, had she said something wrong, why did it seem Xu Tianyi had suddenly become more melancholic? ”In my eyes, you are smart, dedicated, protective, and thoughtful.” Watching Xu Tianyi remain unresponsive, Luo Qianqian lowered her head and softly said, ”Xu Tianyi, can you give me a leg to hang on to? Let me cling to the thick leg of a Scholar God to fulfill my hopes, okay?”
