Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 115: Chapter 103: ’Usury’ Buyout of Kinship (Part 4)

”Who’s there?” He Guo was eating when he heard a loud knocking at the door, thinking it was He Jun coming to seek an explanation for his daughter, so he slowly made his way to open it.

”Duang~” As soon as the door cracked open, it was forcefully yanked wide by people outside, revealing several men in neat black suits, wearing sunglasses at night, standing outside.

”Who are you? What do you want?” Ms. Cong, sensing that something was amiss, hurried out and got a bit scared upon seeing several bulky men. He Juncai, on the other hand, shrunk back inside, unwilling to come out.

”This is He Jun’s home, who are you?” The man in the lead took off his sunglasses revealing a ferocious scar across the bridge of his nose. He spoke with an impatient and harsh tone.

”This is my home, not any ’He Jun’s home.’ It’s my home from now on.” He Guo’s brows furrowed. Could these people have been sent by He Jun to drive them away?

”Is your name on the property deed?” The man sneered disdainfully and ordered his subordinates, ”Take whatever you can, smash anything you can’t take.”

He Guo tried to step forward to stop them but was pushed aside by one of the men, stumbling and falling to the ground, his face frozen in shock for a long while.

”What’s going on here, boss?” Ms. Cong, startled, quickly helped He Guo up, apologizing with a forced smile.

”He Jun owes our Boss money. The house is already mortgaged. You’d better get out, I don’t want to get rough with the elderly and the disabled.” The man put back on his sunglasses and listened quietly to the sounds of smashing and crashing from inside the house, which seemed to be mostly dishes and utensils being broken.

”Big brother, there’s nothing valuable, the old appliances can only be sold for scrap, right?” A man in a black suit said respectfully to Scar Brother as he walked out from the house.

”Drive these people out, this place now belongs to the Boss,” Scar Brother commanded, and then He Juncai inside and He Guo and Ms. Cong at the door were pushed out. Because the house was cold, they were wearing thick clothes even while eating, so when they were pushed out, they were at least dressed warmly.

”You can’t do this!” Ms. Cong clung to the door, gripping the handle tightly, refusing to let go.

”Big brother...” The man in the black suit, cautious of potentially getting into trouble with the old woman, didn’t dare to act, instead looking helplessly towards Scar Brother.

”I’m giving you five minutes to pack your things and leave, or else I won’t be so polite!” Scar Brother cracked his knuckles menacingly, making a loud snapping sound that made He Guo shiver.

He Juncai hastily went into the room and packed his clothes, putting on He Jun’s military coat that was left behind before heading out.

He Guo, meanwhile, packed up his half-finished bottle of erguotou, still tightly clutching the door from the inside, terrified of actually being thrown out.

”Big brother!” A man in a black suit came running up from downstairs.

”Where are they?” Scar Brother’s cold voice asked.

”Downstairs. We’ve searched already; they really have no money left.” The man in the black suit reported.

”Close the door, go downstairs,” Scar Brother ordered coldly before turning to descend the stairs himself.

The man in the black suit unceremoniously closed the door, nearly catching Ms. Cong in it. She gasped in fright and had to let go. The three of them didn’t have keys; there had always been someone at home, and they never found themselves all outside with nobody home.

Seeing the men in black suits had gone downstairs, the three hurried to follow.

”He Jun, I must have misjudged you. The divorce papers are signed! Here’s a waiver of liability, you sign it. Your debts are now none of mine or my daughter’s concern.” Huang Yueran, arriving and seeing He Jun’s bruised face, felt a pang of heartache but soon turned resolute as she noticed people descending the stairs and said with determination.

”I’m sorry for having failed you and our daughter. I’ll sign. We’re divorced,” He Jun, lying on the ground looking defeated, said as he clumsily signed his name. His arms and legs were indeed encased in plaster.

”Now that you’ve signed, she’s naturally not involved anymore. Even we’re not so heartless as to trouble your ex-wife, who’s divorced and severed ties with you,” Scar Brother said, his mouth twitching slightly, almost as if he was straining to be sincere.

”Laoer, what’s going on here?” He Guo, following behind Scar Brother, looked down at his brother on the ground, seemingly unable to move, his brow deeply furrowed.

”Big brother, Mom,” He Jun, seeing his family, brightened up. ”Please help me. I’m in debt, I’ve lost my job, Yueran has left, and I truly have no money.”

”We don’t have any money either,” Cong Xin hurriedly said.

”Is this your mother and brother? The son’s debts are the mother’s to pay, the younger brother’s debts are for the older brother to bear,” Scar Brother sneered as he looked at Cong Xin and He Guo.

”Mom, doesn’t my sister-in-law still have some gold jewelry that came as part of Yueran’s dowry? If we sell that, we could at least pay off some of my debt,” He Jun still held a sliver of hope for his mother, although he had been deeply hurt and exhausted by years of disappointments.

”You’re even coveting your sister-in-law’s belongings!” Cong Xin looked at He Jun with a face full of disgust, ”Go find your wife!”

”Mom, that was originally my wife’s! You took it saying you would keep it safe for her, and then you lost it. How can you deny it now?” Although he had expected not to get it back, He Jun still stood up reluctantly, leaning on his black suit, filled with disappointment.

Huang Yueran quickly lowered her head, her cheeks twitching uncontrollably, not because of her despicable in-laws, but because this overly-kind mobster had actually helped the man to his feet.

”What do you mean ’your wife’s’? It belongs to your older brother, so stop thinking about it. We’ve already divided the family assets, so don’t come to us with your problems!” Cong Xin looked at Huang Yueran with a face full of loathing, ”You two are a family; if your wife won’t help you, don’t come to us!”

”He has already signed the divorce agreement, and the waiver is proof that this matter has nothing to do with me. I have severed all ties with him; his life, death, wealth, or poverty have nothing to do with me,” Huang Yueran said, suppressing the pity in her eyes, as she raised the paper in her hand.

”We have severed ties too, so don’t come to us!” Cong Xin said urgently.

Even though He Jun knew his mother did not love him, he had never thought she would abandon him under these circumstances. A man of tall stature could not help but cry, ”All right, Yueran, do you have any more of those papers for severing relations? I’ll sign.”

Hearing He Jun’s words, Cong Xin quickly pulled her oldest son, rushing towards the paper Huang Yueran had taken out.

With sweeping strokes, three names were signed, and a bright red fingerprint sealed the agreement. Then she threw the paper at He Jun, ”We’ve signed it. From now on, you are to send me living expenses every month!”

”Living expenses after severing relations? What kind of severance is this?” asked Scar Brother. ”If you still provide living expenses, doesn’t that mean you’re still related? So why shouldn’t you pay his debt now?” His cold voice was so chilling that it made one shudder.

”He’s my son, and it’s right for him to provide for me!” Cong Xin said to Scar Brother, fear in her eyes but unwilling to give up.

”Mom, my arms and legs are useless now. If you want, I can come back home with you. The house should sell for enough to cover some of the debt, and after the division of the family property, the money from my house and land should be nearly enough,” He Jun said.

”Don’t come back!” Cong Xin quickly shook her head, ”There’s nothing of yours at home. We’re already struggling to get by, how can we support you when you’re disabled? Your brother is the pillar of the family—he shouldn’t be dragged down by you.”

”He Jun, the divorce agreement says the house is mine,” Huang Yueran said, her heart aching at the sight of her husband, grateful that her marriage was a sham. Otherwise, facing the real desperation of He Jun would be too much to bear.

”Yes, it’s yours,” He Jun said with a tearful smile. He then swiftly signed his name on the agreement Cong Xin handed him, ”Ms. Cong, Mr. He, from now on I, He Jun, have no further connection with you. Life and death, wealth and poverty are predestined, and if you become rich, I won’t interfere; if you become poor, it has nothing to do with me.” Having said that, he handed the agreement to Scar Brother, ”They have nothing to do with me, let them go.”

”Get lost,” Scar Brother said, shaking his head at the mother and sons who abandoned their kin, wondering if the drama were true, would the person have enough strength to resist the urge to end it all.

Cong Xin hurriedly took her son and grandson and ran.

”They’ll come back,” Luo Qianqian said from inside the car, watching the three leave.

”They have the nerve to come back?” He Wenyu said angrily, wondering how she ended up with such shameless relatives.

”Don’t forget, they’re out of money. Not just to return to their hometown, they don’t even have enough for food or lodging,” Luo Qianqian said from an observer’s perspective.

”I guess they’ll go to godmother,” Luo Shufan nodded in agreement.

”I guess they wouldn’t have the face to go tonight. They’ll probably get your mom to go to the store tomorrow. Better send them off quickly, or we might end up with another public row someday,” Bai Yixian snorted coldly.

”Brother, I just want to know where Xiao Yu’s father got the scar on his face, and where did Big Liu’s face get that knife scar?” Bai Yizhu finally asked after watching for a while.

The scars are fake??? Luo Qianqian and the others gaped in surprise.
