Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 125: Chapter 114: Parents Who Spoil a Genius and Extreme Teachers

”Qianqian, Xiao Yu, thank you guys.” Zhang Jingjing, holding a box of cake, came to find Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu early in the morning with her backpack on.

”What’s the matter?” He Wenyu looked at the cake, which was her favorite strawberry flavor, but she was still too curious to start eating.

”That woman has been discharged from the hospital, and Dad has divorced her. These past few days, Dad has been so nice to me, and he even said that he would get my approval before marrying again.” Zhang Jingjing opened the cake box, ”Thank you for showing me what kind of people should care about me. Thank you, if it weren’t for you, I would still be recklessly pampered by that woman, not to mention skipping a grade, I probably wouldn’t have achieved any ranking.”

”I just remembered a saying: to like is to possess, but to love is to let go.” Seeing the confused looks on Zhang Jingjing and He Wenyu’s faces, she said, ”I think I love cakes, so I won’t eat it anymore. You guys eat it.” Actually, she had been spoiled by the food Luo Yanran casually brought over, and she feared gaining weight from eating too much ordinary food.

”Really?” He Wenyu was clearly skeptical. Just yesterday, Luo Qianqian had eaten half of the pork ribs by herself, and she was still talking about love being letting go???

”Really, truer than pearls.”

”Zhang Jingjing! What are you doing in Class One when you’re from Class Two?” Before Luo Qianqian could react, a loud voice came from outside the door.

Zhang Jingjing turned pale as soon as she saw the person standing in the corridor, greeted Luo Qianqian and left. The scolding voice could still be heard clearly as she walked away.

”Is it him?”

”Is it him?”

Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu said at the same time. Then they exchanged glances, the disgust in their eyes unmistakable.

”That teacher who hits people, he hummed at me half a year ago,” He Wenyu was the first to speak.

Luo Qianqian chuckled, ”You really hold a grudge. He hummed at you once and you remembered it for half a year?”

”Not at all, do I seem that petty?” He Wenyu whispered to Luo Qianqian, ”Last time you went to take an exam, I went to Old Niu’s office to get papers for you to bring home, and I overheard him saying something sarcastic like ’A primary student participating in a competition, overestimating herself,’ and Old Niu said nothing.”

”Would you believe a primary student could solve middle school math?” Luo Qianqian blinked, her face showing a very normal attitude.

”Others naturally wouldn’t believe it, but you are Luo Qianqian.” He Wenyu said matter-of-factly, ”Your brother is Luo Shufan.”

... Is it because he ranked first in the grade and then your dad went on about it for two years that you think all my effort is just because of my brother? After being boasted about by He’s father at his workplace for a year, he has been boasting about three people since, still saying how fortunate it is that his children are all so excellent. But Luo Qianqian wouldn’t be childish enough to argue about those things, after all, he is the brother she is most proud of.

”Jiang An and Zhang Jingjing are suffering, last time I saw them, I was just thankful it wasn’t me in that classroom...” Seeing her best friend staring silently, Zhang Jingjing spoke on her own.

”Aren’t you curious?” Luo Qianqian rested her chin on her hands as she watched He Wenyu happily eating with a fork, speechless as they had clearly just had breakfast.

”Curious about what?” He Wenyu didn’t even look up, her face smeared with cream.

”Since we could see it, this matter surely isn’t a secret anymore, so why hasn’t anyone reacted and still allows this teacher to continue teaching?” Luo Qianqian said softly.

”Won’t we know when Jiang An comes looking for Jiang Qian at noon?” He Wenyu saw Zhang Sheng’s head passing by the window beside the corridor and quickly used an English book to block the cake in front of him, bowing his head and quietly eating.

”What’s up with little Yu today? Why so quiet?” As soon as Zhang Sheng entered the classroom, he saw He Wenyu standing with an English book and Luo Qianqian looking up at the sky without responding, so he had no choice but to walk behind He Wenyu.

He Wenyu sneakily peeked out two eyes from behind the English book, and Zhang Sheng cooperated by saying on the side, ”It’s alright, it’s not discovered yet; eat quickly.”

”That’s good.” He Wenyu heard Luo Qianqian’s laughter beside him before he realized who the person speaking next to him was, and he was so surprised he even threw his fork on the table.

”You’re eating all by yourself?” Zhang Sheng looked at the corner of the round cake that had been eaten and feigned anger, ”Aren’t we still a group? Didn’t we agree to share the ups and endure the downs together?”

”No, no, no, it’s me enjoying the ups, and you handling the downs.” He Wenyu quickly closed the cake box, blocking Zhang Sheng’s view. Zhang Sheng couldn’t help but laugh and cry; would he actually rob a kid of his food? Seeing He Wenyu’s guarded look, he felt helpless for a moment and returned to his seat to sit down.

”Zhang Sheng, do you know the teacher from Class Two?” Luo Qianqian suddenly asked.

”A little bit,” Zhang Sheng’s mouth twitched, being taught by that teacher for a week in the second grade had been the most terrifying week and was still his nightmare to this day.

”Tell me about it.” Luo Qianqian was all curiosity, and Zhang Sheng had to turn around and start telling the story seriously.

”The teacher from Class Two is named Teacher Zhao, and I don’t know his first name. He’s in his thirties this year, a widower, and once had a son.”

”Once?” He Wenyu asked.

”Don’t interrupt.” Zhang Sheng, avoiding He Wenyu’s cream-stained lips, continued, ”They say the kid was incredible. Under his tutelage, he was in the sixth grade at age nine, and he was the talk of the town at that time. The kid was so smart he never did his homework, but he still excelled. Knowing he went to middle school, he didn’t do his homework and was scolded by the homeroom teacher back then, and in a moment of anger, jumped off the building. He directly hit the railing, hung on the railing, bleeding profusely and died on the spot.”

”Don’t say such detailed things like that,” He Wenyu interjected, staring wide-eyed.

”I told you not to interrupt; if you do it again, I’m going to start telling ghost stories,” Zhang Sheng glared at He Wenyu, and seeing her shrink her neck, he continued, ”Then Teacher Zhao’s wife went mad and died not long after, leaving only Teacher Zhao by himself. Since then, he changed and disliked any child that could be called a genius, including you, Luo Qianqian, as not doing homework is something he can’t tolerate because if he had forced the child to do homework back then, the child wouldn’t have been scolded and jumped off the building. Although it was just the third floor, he lost his life. Although strict, he’s a good teacher.” After saying this, Zhang Sheng shuddered, still feeling the horror of that week back then.

”So the school knows about him hitting students?” He Wenyu interjected again, seeing Zhang Sheng’s look, she quickly covered her mouth, indicating she wouldn’t speak anymore.

”Yes.” Zhang Sheng sighed, ”Actually, as long as you complete your homework on time, he won’t pick on you too much, and you won’t have any problems in his class, just not someone like you.”

”Someone like me? Someone who skipped grades? Then aren’t Jiang An and Zhang Jingjing...” Luo Qianqian covered her mouth, fearful that something might happen to them.

”It’s just a year. If you two went to Class Two, you would probably be forced back to first grade,” Zhang Sheng shook his head, ”I have two friends in Class Two, and I think the reason why Jingjing was scolded so much today is probably because she’s your friend.”

”Don’t I even have the right to make friends?” Luo Qianqian furrowed her brows; a teacher like that was indeed responsible, but do parents really know their children are being hit for no reason? Nowadays, all are only children, like her, treasured like gems; how could they bear it.

Thinking back to the fate of various teachers in her past life who hit students, even kindergarten teachers and nannies, and considering how most people now think the teacher is always right, Luo Qianqian shook her head; she wouldn’t bother unless it affected her, as long as the people close to her were safe and sound.
