Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 141: Chapter 130: Scholar God Arrives?

A message with ’Xu Tianyi’ as its content made Luo Qianqian save the name, and after replying with a ’Received’, there was no further follow-up.

In these past few days, Luo Qianqian felt very strange and thought about whether to ask or not, but she was still too embarrassed to do so. After all, disturbing the life of a deity wasn’t something a mortal should do.

She could only write and draw at home, do some homework, and report to Old Zhang’s House on time in the afternoon.

—Capital City Xu Family—

”Grandfather, I’ll be off then.” Xu Tianyi said earnestly to Old Master Xu, who was sitting on the chair with a stern face.

Old Master Xu glanced at Xu Tianyi and said, ”I don’t care where you go, but since the Luo Family took care of this matter for you, you must take good care of that little granddaughter of the Luo Family to live up to all their trouble.”

”Yes, I understand,” Xu Tianyi replied, his expression unchanging.

Then he picked up his suitcase and walked out of the grand Xu residence, looking at Luo Xiying leaning against the car waiting outside, he bowed slightly and greeted, ”Thank you for the trouble, Fourth Master Luo.”

”It’s no trouble, Xiao Si had a sudden announcement today so I came to take you,” Luo Xiying looked at Xu Tianyi and nodded, then opened the car door, ”I’ll have to trouble you with looking after our little niece in the future.”

”No trouble at all,” Xu Tianyi said softly.

”Your family probably hasn’t arranged anything for you, right? Are you staying on campus or living outside?” asked Luo Xiying as he watched Xu Tianyi get into the car before he opened the door and drove off.

”I don’t want to stay on campus, but it doesn’t really matter,” Xu Tianyi’s face fell slightly, but he didn’t continue.

”Do you have enough money?” Luo Xiying handed the box on the passenger seat to Xu Tianyi, ”We will pay you a wage for taking care of Qianqian.”

”That’s not necessary. The trouble you took to arrange my transfer is already enough,” Xu Tianyi opened the box and, seeing the key inside, looked puzzled at Luo Xiying.

”This is something a friend of mine bought, but no one is living there now; just keep it clean,” Luo Xiying indicated the white paper beneath the box, ”That’s the address of the house. Once you get there, call the phone number below, and he will come to meet you. If you have any problems, just contact him.”

”Thank you,” Xu Tianyi pursed his lips, accepted the box, and tucked it into his bag.

”No need to be polite. The best thanks will be to take good care of Qianqian,” Luo Xiying glanced at the calm Xu Tianyi in the rearview mirror and then said, ”Living a bit further away is better; the Xu Family is no longer peaceful.”

Xu Tianyi was taken aback, locking eyes with the sharp, eagle-like gaze in the mirror, and after a long pause, said, ”Perhaps.”

”Their reach isn’t that long; you can rest assured,” Luo Xiying sighed to himself, as he knew something about the Xu Family’s situation.

”I’m not worried.” Worst comes to worst, one dies; what is there to enjoy in life or fear in death? Xu Tianyi was only worried about his gentle grandmother.

—The dividing line for going to school on October 8th—

Xiu Xian stood on the podium looking at the sleepy, languid students, sighed inwardly, then clapped his hands and said, ”The holiday is over now, everyone, please pull yourselves together and quickly copy and turn in your homework.” Then, after a short pause, he said, ”Today our class has a new transfer student, let’s give him a warm welcome.”

Amidst applause, Xu Tianyi entered the classroom, and Luo Qianqian, stunned, stood up and exclaimed in surprise, ”Scholar God?”

Xu Tianyi looked at the petite Luo Qianqian, feeling how small she still was after so many years, but he still faced everyone emotionlessly and said, ”Xu Tianyi, please guide me in the future.”

”Qianqian, what Scholar God?” Li Qi asked softly, looking at Luo Qianqian.

”You all know I’ve participated in a national competition once and got the Silver Award, right?” Luo Qianqian leaned back and whispered as Pei Yuhao and Pei Yutian from the back row also gathered around, ”He’s the Gold Award winner, a friend of my brother’s.”

”There are no vacant seats right now, so you can sit at the last row for now,” Xiu Xian said as he looked at the indifferent Xu Tianyi. He was naturally aware of the student’s status; to transfer to a key middle school at this time of year required not just grades but also connections. He didn’t dare to offend him casually. Yet this student didn’t join Class One or Class Two, but specifically asked to join Class Nine. Although he was pleased, he still felt a bit apprehensive under the gazes of the other teachers.

”Teacher, can I sit with him? I’ll take care of the new student,” Luo Qianqian hadn’t expected Sun Xuan to be the first to raise her hand. She was momentarily stunned. Just as she was about to raise her hand, Li Qi pulled it down.

Li Qi stood up: ”Then I’ll sit with Xia Qi,” and then winked at Luo Qianqian. Watching Sun Xuan and Li Qi quickly switch seats with the teacher’s nod, the Scholar God stood still at the front. Then he saw the Scholar God sit down in Li Qi’s original seat, leaving Sun Xuan looking embarrassingly awkward as she stood up.

”Your seat is here,” Sun Xuan said, pointing to the seat beside her.

”I’m short-sighted,” Xu Tianyi said, looking towards Xiu Xian.

Xiu Xian was taken aback and offered, ”Do you want to move to the front row?”

”No need, I’m fine sitting with her; we are quite familiar,” Xu Tianyi said, pointing at Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian, seeing the ill intent in Sun Xuan’s eyes, hurriedly nodded. Naturally, she was more acquainted with the Scholar God than others in the class since she had prior encounters with him. Moreover, to be seated with the Scholar God was a huge blessing from heaven.

Luo Qianqian was inwardly shedding tears of joy, thanking God for allowing her to share a desk with the living Scholar God and grateful to her former deskmate Li Qi for making it possible.

Enraged, Sun Xuan exclaimed, ”Then I want to go back to the front row; I can’t see clearly either!”

”If you can’t see clearly, remember to get glasses. For now, sit here; we’ll rearrange seats in the afternoon class meeting,” Xiu Xian, looking at the immovable Xu Tianyi, could only say that.

Luo Qianqian, eager to please, handed over a math book: ”Scholar God, use mine first.”

Xu Tianyi was taken aback and then cracked a smile, ”Your brother asked me to give you something; it’s at my place. Will you come get it after school?”

”Luo Yanran? Sure, sure!” Luo Qianqian nodded vigorously.

Pei Yuhao, watching Luo Qianqian’s subservient behavior, was infuriated. Was this the same person who’d walked away in a huff just for being called Little One?

”Bro, can you stop grinding your teeth?” Pei Yutian whispered from the side, ”With you like this, I always feel like there’s a dog grinding its teeth next to me.”

”You!” Pei Yuhao glared at his brother, then turned to the ’lovey-dovey’ pair of deskmates at the front with a cold snort and began copying homework from his textbook.

”Why didn’t you tell me when you decided to come here? I could have picked you up, helped you settle in, and such,” Luo Qianqian, seeing that Xiu Xian had turned to write an example on the blackboard, quickly asked in a low voice.

”Surprise,” Xu Tianyi responded with just two words before shutting up.

Pei Yutian nudged Luo Qianqian, ”This is from Sun Xuan,” he said as he passed her a note.

Luo Qianqian opened the note, which contained just three words and three exclamation marks: I’m waiting!!!

Luo Qianqian chuckled, scribbled a response, and threw the note back onto Sun Xuan’s desk.

Opening the note, Sun Xuan was so angry that flames seemed to shoot from her eyes. The note read: He’s out of your league, don’t flatter yourself.

Feeling the resentful glare from behind, Luo Qianqian covered her mouth and giggled. What she said was, after all, the truth. Others might not understand, but she knew where Xu Tianyi came from and where he lived; families like his sought equal matches, so how could they accept a girl from a small city unless she was exceptionally outstanding?

Watching Luo Qianqian giggle, Xu Tianyi felt that maybe this city wasn’t so bad after all.
