Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 135: Chapter 124: School Anniversary (Part 2)

”What does the class monitor of Class One want with you? Luo Qianqian, you better not switch sides and go to the experimental class now,” Pei Yuhao said with a hint of displeasure as he glanced at the AD calcium in Luo Qianqian’s hand. ”Don’t be seduced by a pretty face, beautiful flowers are often poisonous.”

Luo Qianqian chuckled as she looked at Pei Yuhao, ”How old do you think I am? Isn’t it too early to talk about seduction with me? You’re really something,” she paused, then continued, ”I found out what kind of performance Class One is planning.”

”What?” Pei Yuhao asked loudly, not caring that the teacher had just entered the room, then realizing that the class had quieted down and everyone was looking at him, Luo Qianqian also turned back, he embarrassingly stood up to apologize, ”Sorry, got a bit carried away there.”

After sitting down, he quickly asked Luo Qianqian, ”What kind of performance is Class One putting on? This is crucial information, and you’ve done a great service.”

”A play; originally they planned to do a chorus, but the class teacher vetoed it,” Luo Qianqian whispered.

”A play, huh? However, we can’t really compare with Class One,” Pei Yuhao shook his head with an expression of helplessness.

Luo Qianqian took out her textbook and covered her face with it, ”If you think it’s too much trouble, just choose a chorus or a poetry recitation, maybe add some English to make it stand out.” Luo Qianqian peeked out from behind her book to see if the subject teacher was watching her, and continued, ”If you want to impress, go see if there’s anyone who wants to perform solo, like a dance or a solo song. Forget about a play for our class; we can’t organize that.”

”You make a lot of sense. I’ll ask around during the self-study period,” Pei Yuhao fell silent, and Luo Qianqian resumed listening to the class.

After lunch, Luo Qianqian saw Gu Yanzhi standing at the classroom door, quickly grabbed her papers and pencil and left the classroom, ”Why did you come here? Didn’t we agree to meet in the library?”

”I was afraid you’d forget.” Gu Yanzhi said, looking at Luo Qianqian with guilt in his eyes, inwardly sighing because he was right, she had indeed forgotten. Still, he said, ”You explained these problems for me, I can’t just take your help for granted. Do you want our class’s supplementary papers?”

”I’ve heard about them.” Luo Qianqian was startled, she knew Class One had exclusive papers that were not to be leaked, ”But is it okay for you to show them to me?”

”What’s the problem? I barely understand them myself, and you could explain them to me.” Gu Yanzhi smiled; the teacher had never said anything about not leaking them, it was just that everyone in the class was paranoid about not being surpassed.

”If I can’t manage, I can’t help you,” Luo Qianqian said as she spread her hands and gladly accepted. She passed classmates face to face.

”Isn’t that Luo Qianqian from our class? She’s with Gu Yanzhi again.” Wang Wei had been harboring ill feelings towards Luo Qianqian ever since she reprimanded him and his look was unfriendly upon seeing her.

”It’s her freedom to choose her friends, the competition in such a class is inherently unfair,” Wang Wei’s deskmate Wang Ling said. Wang Ling was an upright person and disliked Wang Wei’s backbiting, but now Wang Wei was the only classmate he was close to.

”People from Class One are friendly with her? As if.” Wang Wei scoffed under his breath, maliciously watching Luo Qianqian and Gu Yanzhi walk away.

”Those you disdain are generally excellent,” Han Lei said, passing by not far from the two, his expression indifferent: ”Jealousy requires credentials too. If you can’t match up, you resort to slander; that’s just your usual style.”

”The people you dislike seem to be just my type, looks like I should make friends with Luo Qianqian,” the girl with Han Lei said, looking at Wang Wei with a snort before pulling Han Lei away.

Watching them leave, Wang Wei clenched his teeth, ”Damn it, once I have the means, I’ll make sure to step on all of you.”

Wang Ling watched Wang Wei’s hysterical behavior, shook his head, and left as well.

”Shen Yan, do you really want to be friends with that kid?” Han Lei looked at his deskmate, whom he had known for seven or eight years. He thought he knew the girl in front of him quite well, but her ideas were still unexpected.

”Why not?” Shen Yan looked at the boy in front of her with a smile. ”He’s excellent and has a great personality. Isn’t it nice to be friends?”

”Aren’t you afraid she has some ulterior motive?” Han Lei frowned. At home, too many people pretended to be friendly with them.

Shen Yan chuckled, ”Since school started, there haven’t been many from our class who have approached us, only a few, and she is among them.”

”Playing hard to get?” Han Lei shook his head; a kid wouldn’t know that much.

”Look at the people around him, Li Qi, the Pei brothers. She hasn’t tried to please or flatter anyone,” Shen Yan paused, ”In this class, she has enough pride, doesn’t she?”

”Just a few days and you’re making this judgment? How about we make a bet? I can have someone pick us up and drop us off for a few days, then you can decide whether or not to befriend her?” Han Lei sighed in compromise.

Shen Yan stopped walking, looking at Han Lei with a playful smile, ”In that case, shall we make a bet?”

——

”No, no, that condition is fake, it’s just to trick you,” Luo Qianqian explained the problem to Gu Yanzhi while holding a book from the library, hardly turning a page.

”Oh, I’ll calculate it again.” Gu Yanzhi had to admire the girl in front of him for her clear mind; it seemed her academic performance was solid. ”With your math being so good, wouldn’t you stand out?”

Luo Qianqian was stunned for a moment before she realized what Gu Yanzhi was saying, then she turned another page of her book before responding, ”It’s no secret that I’ve competed in contests, and wouldn’t it be embarrassing if someone who has won awards at competitions couldn’t handle a simple test?”

”That makes some sense. I’ve heard about you around the school,” Gu Yanzhi continued self-assuredly as Luo Qianqian gave no reaction, ”But our main focus is on foreign languages, and it seems your foreign language grades aren’t very good. Do you need help?”

”Can’t compare to your private elementary school,” Luo Qianqian pursed her lips and chuckled lightly, ”My English isn’t bad. At the very least, it’s enough for the middle school exams. Haven’t I told you? I don’t want to stand out.”

”You’ve got a lot of strange logic. Has your class decided on the program yet? There’s only a week left,” Gu Yanzhi mused before asking.

”We’ll decide during this afternoon’s self-study class. Hurry up and write, don’t think I don’t know you’re slacking off.” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes at the paper with only two lines written, then turned another page of her book.

”... I’m just trying to keep you from getting bored,” Gu Yanzhi felt somewhat aggrieved; surely he couldn’t say he was too young to be unromantic, right?

”I’m perfectly happy reading my book, hurry up and write. We don’t have much time,” Luo Qianqian looked up at the clock then lowered her head again, focusing back on her book. ”I’m not one of those idiots in school who care about judging school beauties and beaus. Being good-looking doesn’t put food on the table, the main task for students now is to study.”

”You’re right. So, do you think I’m good-looking?” Gu Yanzhi put down his pen, asking earnestly.

”Pretty average, I suppose, but you could pass as...” Watching Gu Yanzhi become anxious, Luo Qianqian curled her lips into a smile. ”A handsome guy, maybe.”
