Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 129: Chapter 118: Swimming Pool and ’Saving the Beauty’ (Part 2)

Luo Qianqian wiped her tears dry and then walked out of the changing room. Perhaps because she had endured too much mentally, she couldn’t feel the physical pain.

”Luo Qianqian?” Yi Muhuan had been standing at the door the whole time. Seeing Luo Qianqian’s impatience on her face, he turned apologetic, ”I’m sorry, I was in a bad mood just now, and I lost my temper at you, even shoved you. You won’t hold it against me, will you?” As he spoke, Yi Muhuan handed the bottle of milk to Luo Qianqian and cooly flicked back his hair, which hadn’t been wetted by a single drop of water.

Luo Qianqian sneered inwardly and walked past Yi Muhuan toward the spot where her friends were.

”Little miss, you really don’t appreciate what’s been offered to you,” Yi Muhuan looked at the milk in his hand and felt it was somewhat bothersome. When had he ever bought something to give to someone and waited to hand it over? Yet, this little miss had ignored him time and again. It seemed he needed to think of a plan, Yi Muhuan watched Luo Qianqian, who hadn’t looked back, and snorted before returning to the men’s changing room.

”Qianqian, how are you?” Jiang An, who had been sitting by the pool watching others having fun, saw Luo Qianqian returning and hurriedly approached her with concern.

”It’s nothing, just took a fall, it hurt at the time, but it’s much better now.” Luo Qianqian sat down at the edge of the pool and still frowned; although walking wasn’t painful, sitting down still stung a little. Seeing Jiang An sit down too, he curiously asked, ”Why don’t you swim?”

”Don’t mention it, I had a cramp just now. My sister made me rest here,” Jiang An said helplessly. ”Just now Jingjing mentioned that thing about Yi Muhuan. I saw he stood by the changing room just now; are you alright after coming out?”

Luo Qianqian was startled—stood that long? Then she chuckled, ”What could happen to me? It’s just a kid, could he have offered himself to me?” She joked, prompting Jiang An to burst into laughter.

”Xiao An, Qianqian, come over here and sit.” He Wenyu, holding a swim ring at the deep end of the pool, waved to the two.

Jiang An pulled Luo Qianqian up, ”Let’s go over there, it’s too unsafe for you to be alone.”

Luo Qianqian nodded. A pair of eyes behind Luo Qianqian revealed a determined look.

”Then Qianqian, you be the judge,” Luo Qianqian had just arrived at the edge of the pool when He Wenyu gave the order.

”Xiao An has to participate too,” Jiang Qian said.

”What’s going on?” Jiang An, puzzled, got into the water, curiously looking at her sister, Jiang Qian.

”The first place chooses the lunch spot, and the last one treats. Let’s decide what to eat at noon.” Zhang Jingjing put on her swimming goggles. ”One round trip in the pool, Qianqian gives the command.”

”So that’s how it is; Qianqian is lucky,” Jiang An said with a light smile, then readied himself in a backstroke position.

”Alright... ready... 3, 2, 1, go!” Luo Qianqian, seeing that her friends were all ready, hesitantly made the starting gesture. He Wenyu took the lead with Zhang Sheng close behind, while Jiang Qian and Zhang Jingjing were neck and neck in the rear.

Seeing He Wenyu slowing down about to be overtaken by Zhang Sheng, Luo Qianqian grew anxious and hurried to cheer, ”Xiao Yu, keep it up, Xiao Yu, keep it up!!! And... Ah!!!” With a ’splash,’ the words in Luo Qianqian’s mouth faded out as she distinctly felt someone behind her push her on purpose.

The nearby swimmers were taken aback; it made no sense for someone to come to the swimming pool and not be able to swim, so they waited for Luo Qianqian to surface on her own.

The competitors, upon hearing Luo Qianqian’s cheers followed by a scream, quickly halted and turned back. Where was Luo Qianqian’s figure?

”Luo Qianqian!!!” He Wenyu swam frantically back, with the others close behind.

At that moment, Yi Muhuan’s lips curved slightly, and with a light leap, he dived into the water. He scooped up Luo Qianqian, who had swallowed a few gulps of water but was still conscious, and laid her by the poolside.

”Qianqian!!!” Only then did He Wenyu and the others arrive, relieved to see Luo Qianqian was not seriously hurt.

”It’s all my fault, if it wasn’t for me wanting to race...” He Wenyu lay on top of Luo Qianqian, with tears falling.

”It’s my fault, I got the tickets.” Zhang Jingjing shook her head, kneeling beside Luo Qianqian, looking at her pale complexion with choked emotion.

The lifeguard, noticing the commotion, hurried over and carried Luo Qianqian into the medical office. Luo Qianqian had regained consciousness by then, recalling the moments before the drowning. She clearly remembered the temperature of the hand that pushed her, but there were too many people around to say anything, and she noticed Yi Muhuan had followed them in. Luo Qianqian closed her eyes; how could it be such a coincidence that he was the one who saved her?

”No adults?” The female doctor looked at Luo Qianqian lying on the bed with disapproval, ”A bunch of kids daring to play here, even venturing into the deep end. Aren’t you afraid of the trouble it would cause your families if something happened?” Having heard from the lifeguard, the doctor was aware of the situation and gestured to the people in the medical office, ”She needs to be observed for half an hour. You all go out now, don’t disturb the patient’s rest.”

”Let me stay with Qianqian, she might be scared,” He Wenyu said, looking at Luo Qianqian’s pale face with much guilt.

”I’m enough,” Yi Muhuan interrupted with a light smile, ”After all, I’m the one who saved her. It’s my responsibility to make sure she recovers.”

”I should stay, after all, I’m the one who brought the tickets.” Zhang Jingjing bit her lower lip as tears slid down her cheeks.

Seeing Luo Qianqian frown, the female doctor waved her hand, ”All of you go out, don’t disturb the patient. If you want to wait, do so outside. She needs rest now.” Making sure everyone had left, she took a breath and asked Luo Qianqian, ”Do you need water or anything else?”

Luo Qianqian opened her eyes, a serious gleam flashing in her ink-dyed pupils as she asked the doctor, ”There are surveillance cameras here, right?”

”Yes, what do you mean by that...” The female doctor was taken aback. During the trial operation, everyone entering the swimming hall was exceptional, the kind who possessed status; otherwise, they wouldn’t have the tickets.

”Could you please not tell the people outside to help me check who was behind me when I fell into the water?” Luo Qianqian’s face carried a hint of a cold smile. Thankfully, she was alright; if someone had planned this, they wouldn’t have let her get hurt because that would lead to an in-depth investigation.

The female doctor nodded with slight surprise, picked up the desk phone to speak a few words, and then switched on the computer.

”It’s not very clear, but based on the figure, it’s not your friend,” the female doctor said, looking at the overweight man on the screen, with a dark expression on her face. It was truly intentional.

”Check earlier, see who he was with.” Luo Qianqian scoffed coldly. This was the city’s first swimming pool with comprehensive surveillance in all areas except changing rooms and bathrooms. But this information wouldn’t be advertised until its official launch.

The female doctor was startled; this child was no longer behaving like a child, remaining so calm at a time like this, even though she was the injured party. Then she nodded and made another phone call.

”He was talking to this person at the changing room entrance.” The female doctor looked coldly, helping Luo Qianqian to the computer. Although not clear, Luo Qianqian was shocked yet certain of the person’s identity. As she had suspected, it was Yi Muhuan.

”Do you need to call the police?” The female doctor, looking at several profile pictures, hesitated to ask the girl in front of her, who had been plotted against by a friend, who was even signaling to her.

”It’s fine, no need. Could I use the phone, though?” Luo Qianqian asked with a cold smile. Even if she were taken to the police station, with the Yi family’s power, was there any doubt she wouldn’t be able to leave?

She dialed Luo Shufan’s number.

”Qianqian? What’s up?” From the quiet background, it seemed Luo Shufan was still in class, yet he answered the call.

”Brother, call Bai Yizhu and tell him to come to Shifang International. I don’t know where my phone is,” Luo Qianqian said with a laugh.

”What’s going on?” Luo Shufan was taken aback. Why was she looking for Bai Yixian? Hearing his sister’s voice, though, it seemed nothing was wrong.

”To introduce her to a girlfriend.” Luo Qianqian’s eyes were focused on the screen, her gaze icy, but her voice was gentle, ”Tell him to hurry. He must come.” The reason she couldn’t go out and call Bai Yixian or remember his number was that she didn’t have her phone.

”You and your antics, where should he find you when he gets there?” Luo Shufan chuckled, hearing his sister’s vibrant voice.

”The medical office will do,” Luo Qianqian replied.
