The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 428: Chapter 427: Unfair

Guo Ming, hearing Xie Yongchao’s words, smiled and said, ”Yiyi is just lucky this time, but after your round is over, she will definitely have to compete in the end.”

Xie Yongchao, however, said with a cheerful expression, ”That may not be the case. Including Yiyi, there are 13 people left. Who knows, maybe Yiyi will get lucky and draw an empty slot again.”

Guo Ming didn’t dare to think this way and quickly laughed, ”If she draws an empty slot again, I bet others will complain. Besides, even if Yiyi is lucky, it’s unlikely to be that good. So she still has to compete earnestly.”

Upon hearing Guo Ming’s words, Xie Yongchao smiled and didn’t say anything more, instead turning to watch the matches with them.

The first to compete was the skinny guy from the first round, and his opponent was a middle-aged man.

Seeing these two, Guo Ming couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Didn’t expect that skinny young guy to draw number one again.” He then turned to Yiyi and asked, ”This time, who do you think will win?”

Hearing her master’s words, Yiyi pondered for a moment, recalling the performances of both men yesterday, and said, ”This time, the middle-aged man should win.”

Guo Ming laughed aloud upon hearing this, ”You have a keen eye.”

Beside them, the Xie family trio looked curiously at Yiyi, and in the end, it was Xie Yuanguang who couldn’t resist asking, ”How did you see that?”

”Didn’t both of them compete yesterday? So I have some idea of their moves, but this is just my guess. I might be wrong.” Yiyi smiled without overcommitting.

But soon the bout concluded, and indeed the middle-aged man won.

Seeing this result, Xie Yongchao looked at Yiyi in surprise and then praised, ”Yiyi is really impressive. Just from watching their matches yesterday, she could tell who was stronger. It seems like you’ve got a good grasp of their styles and techniques.”

”Uncle Xie, I was just guessing as well.”

Xie Yongchao said nothing further but held Yiyi in higher regard. Previously, he hadn’t seen Yiyi in action, so even when his son said she was good, he had no concept. But now, seeing Yiyi discern strengths just from observing techniques, her observational skill was clearly remarkable.

Then the second group proceeded with their matches, and Xie Yongzhou was in the fifth group, undoubtedly winning in the end.

As for Wu Xiu’s disciple Feng Yingjie, he also won in the end.

After all twelve groups finished their matches, the host announced the names of those entering the final and asked them to draw lots again.

Yiyi quickly went forward to draw lots.

This time, there would still be someone who drew an empty slot, and Yiyi couldn’t help but complain inwardly—why hadn’t the organizers considered this issue? They should have arranged an even number.

But even before Yiyi could think more about it, as soon as she saw the note in her hand, she couldn’t help but wonder if someone had rigged it for her—she had drawn an empty slot again.

The host was also somewhat surprised by this result, then laughed, ”It seems this beautiful young lady has exceptional luck. This time, she drew an empty slot again, so she can proceed directly. The remaining six groups, do your best in the matches.”

As soon as the host finished speaking, someone stepped forward and said, ”This isn’t fair. She didn’t do anything and advanced directly. What would the other competitors think?”

At this moment, those who had just lost their matches also began murmuring among themselves.

Among them, there were skilled individuals, but with bad luck, they faced even more skilled opponents and had to leave disappointed. But seeing this young girl draw an empty slot again, what about them who exhausted themselves in matches only to lose?

”Yes, it’s too unfair. If she keeps drawing empty slots, does that mean she can win the championship without competing?”

Others started shouting.

Anyway, they didn’t want to see Yiyi advancing just because of good luck.

And the one who stepped forward to say this was none other than Wu Xiu’s disciple, Feng Yingjie.

Hearing this, Yiyi couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, and then she looked at the host and asked, ”Sir, were there people drawing empty slots in previous tournaments as well?”

The host smiled kindly upon hearing this, ”Yes, every tournament has been like this because we value luck in our culture. However, your situation is a first—no one has been so lucky to always draw an empty slot each round.”

Feng Yingjie continued, ”This method is somewhat unfair. Others advance on their skills, while this young lady advances again and again through luck. Ask any of the others—they surely don’t want to see this.”

Upon hearing this, the host glanced at Feng Yingjie, raised an eyebrow, and smiled, ”If you think it’s unfair, how about you have a match with this young lady? Whoever wins advances, and the loser is eliminated. That way, there won’t be any more empty slots. What do you think?”

Feng Yingjie was stunned by this.

The result was unexpected to him. He didn’t expect the host to propose such an idea outright.

He had already advanced, so one more match would be a waste of energy, even if he won. But... if he lost, he might be eliminated, which seemed like a losing proposition no matter how he thought about it.

Yet even before Feng Yingjie could think further, the people below began shouting, ”Fight her! If she keeps getting lucky, will she just draw empty slots every time? Let’s eliminate her now.”

”Yes, yes, get her eliminated quickly. Feng Yingjie, I know you’re exceptionally skilled; it won’t take long to deal with a girl like her. Get up there.”

The speaker was someone who had just lost a match to Feng Yingjie, and he knew firsthand how skilled Feng Yingjie was, so he thought the proposal was favorable no matter how he looked at it.

Others also called for Feng Yingjie to fight Yiyi.

Guo Ming had the most unpleasant expression among all those present. His disciple, originally lucky enough to draw another empty slot, could have advanced easily, but these people were causing trouble.

Just as Guo Ming was about to stand up, Wu Xiu directly stood and said to Feng Yingjie, ”Yingjie, just have a match with her.”

He had long been annoyed by Guo Ming’s bragging about his disciple, making it seem like his female disciple was highly skilled. Today, he was going to show Guo Ming that other than her looks, there was nothing special about his female disciple.

Yiyi observed everyone’s expressions, not missing her master’s dark face. She gave Guo Ming a reassuring glance, then looked at the host and said, ”I agree with the suggestion. Let me and Feng Yingjie have a match, and the loser gets eliminated.”
