This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng was momentarily distracted by Du Bing’s wife’s cursing; hearing the unbearable profanities, he was just about to leave.

Unexpectedly, another THUD made him turn around, only to see the woman, who had just been foul-mouthed and full of fight, fall straight to the ground.

Du Heng didn’t know what was going on, but seeing the woman collapse and apparently convulsing, he thought, What rotten luck! yet felt compelled to check on her.

However, Du Bing stopped Du Heng. Looking at his collapsed wife with disgust, Du Bing said in a mocking and impatient tone, ”You don’t need to bother. She loves using this trick to scare people—it’s an act. If no one pays her any mind, she’ll get up on her own in a bit.”

After speaking to Du Heng, Du Bing turned back and yelled into the courtyard, ”Stop acting! Get up now! Haven’t you made enough of a spectacle?”

Hearing Du Bing’s words, Du Heng halted, but his doctor’s instincts made him glance towards the courtyard again.

Du Bing’s father averted his gaze, once again burying his head between his legs. Du Bing’s mother didn’t even spare a single glance in her daughter-in-law’s direction. As for the three-year-old child, their attention was completely captivated by the toy in their hands.

Perhaps the woman had indeed overdone her act, but the family’s indifference truly opened Du Heng’s eyes, giving him a new perspective.

Even if the daughter-in-law was pretending, that THUD as she hit the cement ground surely hurt; it was quite possible she had injured herself in the fall.

Furthermore, as Du Heng observed more closely, he realized the way the woman’s limbs were twitching was wrong. It didn’t look like an act at all; rather, it seemed like unconscious convulsions, similar to seizures.

He ignored Du Bing, who was trying to block him, pushed him aside, and said, ”Out of the way.” Then, he quickly walked into the courtyard and approached Du Bing’s wife.

The moment he saw the actual situation, Du Heng dashed over.

Just as he suspected, Du Bing’s wife wasn’t just having simple seizures; she was also vomiting uncontrollably. Her throat heaved as filth poured out of her oral cavity. Because she was unconscious, she had lost the ability to expel or swallow it, and the vomit flowed back into her oral cavity.

In no time, filth flowed in and out, completely filling her oral cavity. Some of it also blocked her airway, obstructing her breathing, and even filled her nasal cavity.

With no time for second thoughts and disregarding the mess, Du Heng directly pried open the woman’s mouth, turned her head to the side, and used his other hand to reach in and clear out the filth, ensuring she could breathe.

However, as soon as he opened her mouth, besides the nauseating smell of digesting food, there was a distinct scent of bitter almond.

Poison?

Du Heng’s heart raced.

Typically, a bitter almond taste in the mouth might be due to excessive liver and gallbladder heat or a deficiency of stomach fluids.

But in such cases, it would usually only cause bad breath or halitosis. The bitter almond taste would primarily be perceived by the individual themselves; others wouldn’t smell it so clearly, let alone identify it as bitter almond.

More importantly, excessive liver and gallbladder heat or a deficiency of stomach fluids weren’t enough to cause someone to lose consciousness, convulse, and vomit uncontrollably.

The only thing that could cause such a condition was hydrogen cyanide poisoning.

Could Du Bing intend to kill his wife?

The thought flashed through Du Heng’s mind.

His mind racing, Du Heng continued to clean the woman’s oral cavity while glancing back at Du Bing.

At that moment, Du Bing was also stunned, as if his wife’s current state was completely beyond his expectations.

It couldn’t be... could it?!

With no emergency medicine on hand, Du Heng could only rapidly clean her oral cavity, ensuring her breathing was unobstructed.

After clearing her oral cavity and nasal cavities, and knowing Du Bing didn’t have a car, Du Heng, ignoring his soiled hands, took out his mobile phone and called Wang Shuqiu. ”Quick, grab the car keys and wait for me by the car.”

Without waiting for Wang Shuqiu to reply, Du Heng hung up and immediately dialed the Health Clinic.

The phone rang three times before it was answered. ”Hello, Zhonghu Town Health Clinic.” Yu Haiting’s magnetic baritone came through the line.

Hearing Yu Haiting on duty, Du Heng let out a huge sigh of relief. ”This is Du Heng. I have a suspected case of hydrogen cyanide poisoning here. Female, around 33 years old, weighs about 180 pounds. She’s currently unconscious and exhibiting symptoms like seizures and unconscious vomiting. Please prepare emergency medication immediately. We’ll be there in about fifteen minutes.”

Instantly, a tense voice responded from the other end, ”Are there any noticeable changes in her skin color?”

”Nothing observed so far.”

”Understood. I’ll go prepare right away.”

Neither wasted words, and the call ended swiftly.

Hydrogen cyanide poisoning. Du Heng suspected foul play, and the prime suspects were Du Bing and his parents. Considering their cold and disgusted attitude towards the woman earlier, this possibility seemed very high.

Du Heng didn’t ask. If they had indeed poisoned her, asking would yield nothing. Similarly, despite his suspicions, he didn’t dare call the police at that moment, fearing it might lead to unforeseen complications.

He tried to drag Du Bing’s wife, but she was too heavy for him to lift. Left with no choice, he looked at Du Bing. ”What are you standing there stunned for? Come and help me get her into the car.”

”Oh, oh, oh, oh.”

He was just as timid as he had been last night.
