This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng was startled by this rough handling. As Du Bing pressed down, Du Heng quickly advised, ”Don’t rush, clean her oral cavity first.”

Du Bing glanced at Du Heng in a panic. His face was covered in crisscrossing tiny wounds; Du Heng could even clearly see the bloody marks on his eyelids. Hmm~ And his head was bandaged, still seeping blood. It seems this was all the handiwork of his wife and his brother-in-law!

Du Bing fumbled through another series of actions, then, under Du Heng’s guidance, began to perform artificial respiration rhythmically.

At this moment, the surrounding crowd was silent, all intently watching Du Heng. Suddenly, someone called out from outside the crowd, ”The car is ready, should we send her to the hospital?”

Du Heng paused. In this situation, what was the point of sending her to the hospital? Was it even necessary? Besides, the slightest jolt now could extinguish any chance she had.

After less than a minute of compressions, Du Heng’s arms were already starting to ache, but the woman showed no response. But could he give up? No, he had to grit his teeth and continue CPR. By then, nearly three minutes had passed.

”Xiao Heng, here.”

Suddenly, Du Ping, panting heavily, brought Du Heng’s needle tool kit to him.

The moment he received the needles, Du Heng stopped CPR compressions and quickly told Du Bing, ”Stop what you’re doing! Roll up your wife’s sleeves and pant legs.” As he spoke, Du Heng had already opened the needle tool kit, taken out a long needle, and positioned himself in front of Du Bing’s wife. Strong stimulation, all acupoints must receive strong stimulation, to have any chance of reactivating her heart.

However, the first acupoint Du Heng chose was Baihui (GV20) on the crown of her head. Applying strong stimulation here, the slightest slip could leave the patient comatose or with hemiplegia, even if she revived. Given the temperament of Du Bing’s family, they’d probably pin all the blame on him if anything went wrong. Du Heng quickly weighed the pros and cons. Finally, he took a deep breath, his gaze becoming exceptionally sharp as he slowly bent down.

If only there was a defibrillator right now, that would be great. Du Heng pushed aside his distracting thoughts and focused all his concentration on the needle in his hand. There was no room for even the slightest error now.

After successfully inserting the needle, Du Heng let out a breath. ”Once you’ve rolled them up, step back! Don’t touch your wife. Everyone, move back!” If anyone dared to touch the needle in her Baihui (GV20) acupoint now, Du Heng felt he would cough up blood and die on the spot from sheer frustration.

Du Bing was like a string puppet, completely devoid of his own initiative. He did exactly as Du Heng instructed.

Du Heng ignored him after giving the order. After needling Baihui (GV20), he moved quickly to other acupoints like ST-36, philtrum, and PC-06, applying the strong stimulation method to all of them.

Twenty seconds later, Du Heng was drenched in sweat. After glancing at Du Bing’s wife’s face, he reached out to feel her pulse. There it was! Weak, but definitely there! She was coming back! But her breathing hadn’t returned, and her heartbeat hadn’t recovered either.

Du Heng stood up again and resumed CPR. After another minute of compressions, Du Heng’s arms were so sore they felt almost useless. He looked up, hoping to find someone to take over, but there was no one suitable. However, just then, his peripheral vision caught a slight movement in Du Bing’s wife’s throat. Du Heng’s spirits soared, a look of delighted surprise spreading across his face, and renewed strength flowed into his hands.

PHEW...

Du Heng slumped onto the bed, nearly collapsing. Fortunately, Du Ping, standing behind him, quickly supported him.

”Is she alive?”

”Yes, she’s alive!”

The brothers’ exchange was heard by everyone present.

Only four minutes had passed since Du Heng entered the room, but to the onlookers, it felt like four agonizing hours. They were all utterly drained. They had witnessed with their own eyes someone with a cyanotic face and no heartbeat being pulled back from the brink of death. Instantly, overwhelmed with excitement, everyone began to applaud. Even though they knew it wasn’t the appropriate time or place, they couldn’t help but clap.

Du Heng had no time to bask in the applause. After catching his breath and regaining some strength, he quickly stood up again. At that moment, a long needle was still quivering on Du Bing’s wife’s forehead.

Before she fully regained consciousness, Du Heng once again carefully yet swiftly removed the long needle, and then the other needles from her acupoints. Thirty seconds later, with the exhalation of a long breath, Du Bing’s wife sobbed out loud again. Her consciousness was still stuck in that last terrifying moment when she was hanging from the tree.

Hearing her cries gradually grow stronger, Du Heng glanced at Du Bing’s wife’s eyes. Then, he quietly began packing his needle tool kit and, under everyone’s gaze, slowly walked out.

Du Ping glanced at the situation in the room, then quickly followed Du Heng out.

”Xiao Heng, is there nothing else we need to do?”

”No, she’ll be fine. With attempted hangings, there are generally two outcomes: either they’re revived with no lasting issues, or they can’t be revived and pass away. This is completely different from cardiac arrest caused by illness. Once revived, aside from some dizziness due to cerebral hypoxia, there are usually no other problems.”

Du Ping, following behind, asked worriedly, ”Are you sure Du Bing’s wife will be okay after not breathing for so long?”

”If respiratory arrest is within ten minutes, and the person is revived, there are usually no major issues. However, if it exceeds ten minutes, the brain can suffer damage from oxygen deprivation.”

As Du Heng walked, he felt increasingly weak, his legs unsteady. He hadn’t noticed it amidst the earlier tension, but now that the adrenaline rush had passed, he felt utterly drained. He paused to catch his breath before continuing, ”But no one can say for certain; it’s a matter of probability. The shorter the duration, the lower the risk of damage; the longer the duration, the higher the risk.”

Du Ping was taken aback. ”So, Du Bing’s wife should be alright then? After all, several minutes passed from when Liang Lihai came to get you until you arrived.”

”When I left just now, I looked at Du Bing’s wife’s eyes. They were clear and looked normal.”

”Won’t Du Bing’s wife try something like this again?”

”No, these things are usually impulsive. Since she didn’t succeed this time, that impulse has passed. If you asked her to do it again, she probably wouldn’t even dare go near that tree. She’ll be fine.”

”Well, as long as you think she’s fine,” Du Ping said, still sounding a little unconvinced.

When they returned home, Wang Shuqiu and Zhang Sumei were still discussing whether the new curtains looked good.

Seeing Du Heng enter, drenched in sweat, Wang Shuqiu quickly asked, ”What happened to you? How did your clothes get so wet? Your back looks like it’s been doused with water.”

”Du Bing’s wife tried to hang herself. I just came from saving her.”

Du Heng dropped his bag and turned to go into the bedroom. He needed to change his clothes quickly; the dampness clinging to his back was too uncomfortable.

However, everyone present, except for a clueless Du Yi, stared with wide eyes.

She tried to hang herself?

And he saved her?

All this happened in such a short time?

But Wang Shuqiu was even more puzzled. Who is Du Bing? And why would his wife try to hang herself?

Seeing Wang Shuqiu’s puzzled expression, Du Ping chose not to gossip in front of his sister-in-law. ”I’ll go upstairs and take a look,” he said, heading upstairs, presumably to check on the renovation progress.

Du Ping didn’t elaborate, but his sister-in-law Zhang Sumei and Du Xuejing knew the story. Their own interest in gossip immediately flared, and they quickly filled Wang Shuqiu in on the details, dispelling her confusion.
