This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

After Du Heng left, he was unaware of what had transpired at the Hospital. He just wanted to reach the place Wang Shuqiu had mentioned as quickly as possible.

After all, concerning the afternoon’s events, it was as if he had released Wang Shuqiu’s clam.

However, the more anxious one is, the more things tend to go awry.

When he left the Hospital, he was caught right in the evening rush hour, and Provincial First Hospital was located in the heart of the city center.

It was a slight exaggeration to say the traffic was at a complete standstill. The taxi he was in was still inching forward, but its speed wasn’t much faster than a snail’s.

When Du Heng first came out, he had considered hailing a taxi to get there faster.

But he never would have imagined that on such congested roads, the fastest vehicles weren’t the taxis that usually zipped around like fighter jets. Instead, it was that other Big brother of the road—the Bus.

Thanks to their drivers’ skilled maneuvering and their own massive frames, Buses had a distinct advantage in claiming right-of-way.

Half an hour passed. Du Heng could still vaguely see the entrance of Provincial First Hospital, but four Buses had already overtaken his taxi.

What pained Du Heng even more wasn’t just the delay. Despite not having traveled far, the meter jumped with every blink, much like his own blood pressure threatening to skyrocket.

Seeing several Buses squeeze past, Du Heng considered getting out, walking a bit ahead, and switching to a faster Bus.

However, two reasons made him abandon the idea.

Firstly, the taxi driver was already enraged. Seeing the driver Big brother’s increasingly bloodshot eyes, Du Heng feared that if he got out then, the driver Big brother might pull out a wrench.

Secondly, and this was the decisive factor: every Bus that overtook them had its doors bulging with squeezed buttocks, and its windows revealed faces pressed flat against the glass.

Du Heng figured that if a Bus driver accidentally opened the doors at that moment, people would erupt out.

And so, with Wang Shuqiu constantly hurrying him, it took Du Heng an hour and a half to finally reach the location she had specified.

Du Heng had expected Wang Shuqiu to have a bit of a bad temper, but not only was she not upset, she was actually having a great time.

Yes, playing.

They had originally planned to look at furniture and home appliances. But because of Du Heng’s releasing of the clam, Wang Shuqiu had called Zhao Xinfang over, and along with him came Liao Yuzhu, the girl who was actively pursuing Zhao Xinfang.

This delighted Wang Shuqiu to no end. All thoughts of looking at furniture and appliances vanished as she eagerly led the two of them on a tour, having an absolute blast.

Du Heng had only seen Liao Yuzhu once before. That occasion was in a dimly lit warehouse, and from quite a distance, so he had only caught a glimpse of her. As for what the girl actually looked like, Du Heng hadn’t gotten a clear view.

Today marked their official introduction. Du Heng was very curious: just how infatuated could this girl be to overlook Zhao Xinfang, a young man who was not only poor but also ill?

Zhao Xinfang was handsome, true, but in Du Heng’s opinion, he definitely wasn’t handsome to a devastating, world-altering degree.

The fact that Zhao Xinfang could attract Liao Yuzhu, and even get Liao Quansheng’s approval, still felt somewhat surreal to Du Heng.

After they were introduced, Wang Shuqiu said to Du Heng, ”It’s all your fault. We’ve been waiting here for you for over an hour! Our dinner reservation at the restaurant has passed because we were waiting for you to eat.”

Du Heng felt genuinely apologetic. ”I really didn’t expect the traffic around Provincial First Hospital to be *that* bad. My mistake, my mistake. It’s on me today. You pick the place, alright?”

”That’s more like it.”

Wang Shuqiu made a boisterous show of wanting to eat something extravagant, but in the end, she chose an Internet Celebrity Hot Pot Restaurant. It wasn’t expensive, just the kind that was currently popular on local short video platforms.

Liao Yuzhu also agreed with Wang Shuqiu’s choice, and they happily debated whether the tomato pot or the nourishing broth pot was tastier.

Zhao Xinfang, somewhat shy and reserved, remained silent, simply trailing behind the two women.

Du Heng was much the same. It wasn’t out of shyness, though; he genuinely didn’t know what to contribute to their conversation.

Besides, he really couldn’t comprehend their choice of food.

Eating hot pot on such a sweltering day? He truly couldn’t stomach the idea.

Well, not being able to chime in right now did provide an excellent opportunity to observe Liao Yuzhu.

How to put it... Liao Yuzhu wasn’t strikingly beautiful. Judging by looks alone, she was merely average.

However, the girl had a good figure, and coming from a wealthy family, her fashion sense significantly elevated her overall presentation, compensating for any natural deficiencies to the fullest.

When Du Heng was in school, a self-proclaimed ’love sage’ from a higher grade had once imparted some ’sacred teachings’ to him. Through subsequent life observations, Du Heng had confirmed this senior’s words to be true, with an accuracy rate of ninety-eight percent.

To describe a girl with a good figure, terms like ’straight legs’ were often used. And it was true: girls with straight legs often not only possessed striking figures but also carried themselves with a superior air.

Naturally, some legs were attractive, others less so.

But that wasn’t the main point. The real focus, according to this ’sage,’ was the gap between the inner thighs, just above the knees, when a girl stood with her legs together.

This senior had told Du Heng that if the gap was non-existent, the legs perfectly symmetrical and touching, she was likely single and had never had a boyfriend.

If there was a visible curve, she was ’a flower that already had a master’—taken.

As for those where the gap was ’transparent from front to back’ and wider than two fingers... well, they were said to have tasted all the sweet and sour of the human world, grown weary of the world of mortals, and were now looking to find an honest man to settle down with.

And with current fashion trends, where girls often wore ultra-short skirts or shorts, baring their legs, it was impossible not to notice such details.

Compared to Wang Shuqiu’s more conservative style, Liao Yuzhu’s attire fully embodied the ’stay cool all summer’ philosophy of a fashionable city girl.

Following behind them, Du Heng casually glanced at Liao Yuzhu, who was walking side-by-side with Wang Shuqiu. He immediately averted his gaze, not letting it linger, and instead tried to find a topic to discuss with Zhao Xinfang.

But that single glance was enough for him to make an assessment in his heart: more than two fingers wide.

When they arrived at the Internet Celebrity Hot Pot Restaurant, Du Heng couldn’t discern anything particularly ’Internet famous’ about it. The food tasted much like any other hot pot place, and the service was average.

There was one novel addition, though: while everyone ate, some flamboyantly dressed girls would dance in the aisles.

For a second, if not for the aroma of hot pot, the sight of the dancing girls, and the thumping beat of the music, Du Heng might have mistaken the place for a nightclub.

Still, it was fundamentally a place for eating, so everyone’s attention eventually returned to their meals. The dancing, intended as an entertaining diversion, lost everyone’s interest after a short while.

At the dining table, Du Heng and Zhao Xinfang finished their ’battle’ with the meal relatively quickly. Only Wang Shuqiu and Liao Yuzhu continued to eat nonstop.

Du Heng sometimes wondered how their slender frames could hold so much food. And why did girls, in general, seem to love hot pot so much?

Weren’t they hot, eating it in the middle of summer?
