This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Wu Buwei was still puzzled, frowning and asking, ”How could this situation be spleen qi deficiency instead of a stroke?”

Du Heng was not in a hurry but patiently explained, ”Alcohol, if taken in small amounts, can be beneficial, but if consumed excessively, it can cause harm. If one drinks every day, the viscera will be filled with Dregs Qi. Another characteristic of alcohol is its ability to disperse qi and blood. If qi and blood are scattered, it will inevitably affect the spleen meridian.”

Pointing at the disease record, Du Heng continued, ”The patient’s body is soft and weak, which is a result of spleen deficiency. Excessive phlegm is due to the spleen’s inability to transform. And pain in the legs and knees is a result of the spleen’s inability to function properly.”

Wu Buwei seemed thoughtful, following Du Heng’s explanation and slowly saying, ”Mouth-clenching and hesitant speech are due to spleen qi having difficulty connecting. Dizziness is due to spleen qi having difficulty rising. And excessive salivation occurs because the spleen is deficient and cannot restrain it.”

Du Heng nodded in approval and added, ”Don’t forget, the patient also has flaky skin, which is due to spleen deficiency and inability to moisturize. Now do you understand why the diagnosis is spleen qi deficiency?”

It took Wu Buwei five or six seconds to organize his thoughts, and then he seemed to understand, showing a sudden realization.

”So, now you should understand why I used the modified Six Gentleman Decoction, right?”

”I somewhat understand. The Six Gentleman Decoction is a special medicine for replenishing spleen qi, and it is also good for treating phlegm. It is a symptomatic prescription.” Wu Buwei looked at Du Heng and asked, ”Brother, why did you add aconite?”

”The patient drinks excessively, causing qi and blood to scatter. The Six Gentleman Decoction travels through the meridians but does not communicate with the blood vessels. However, adding aconite can solve this problem.”

Wu Buwei recalled the effects of aconite, then nodded in understanding, and asked the last question, ”Brother, I know that sojutsu var has the effect of tonifying the spleen, but why did you prescribe such a large dose? Isn’t it too much?”

”Not too much, not at all. Sojutsu var can tonify the spleen, but it is more efficient in eliminating dampness. Using it in large amounts can benefit the waist and navel, ensuring that the yang qi does not sink, and the spleen can establish its transforming function.”

This time, Wu Buwei fully understood.

After some thought, he said, ”Brother, according to this logic, can I also use Shen Shu Qu Shi Tang?”

Du Heng thought about the ingredients of Shen Shu Qu Shi Tang and nodded, ”Yes, the effect is the same.”

Wu Buwei, feeling affirmed, suddenly became energetic.

Du Heng smiled and asked, ”You’ve been reading a lot lately, even digging up Shen Shu Qu Shi Tang? You even understand its usage, which is impressive.”

”Hehe, Brother, you’re going to Provincial First Hospital soon, and if I don’t work hard, I’ll be left far behind.”

Just as they were talking about Provincial First Hospital, Du Heng’s phone rang. He picked it up and saw that it was a call from Xu Pinglin at Provincial First Hospital.

”President Du, did you forget something today?” Xu Pinglin complained as soon as the call went through.

Confused, Du Heng asked, ”No, what did I forget?”

”The follow-up, remember the patient with gastric atrophy from last week? You told them to come for a follow-up in a week, didn’t you?” Xu Pinglin had to remind him.

”Oh, I’m sorry, Director Xu, I’ll be right there.”

”No need to rush, the patient seems to be doing well emotionally, just take your time.”

After hanging up the phone, Du Heng apologized to Wu Buwei, ”Buwei, you’ll have to do today’s treatment. I need to go to Provincial First Hospital.”

”No problem, Brother, you go ahead with your work, and I’ll take this opportunity to review acupuncture treatment.”

Wu Buwei smiled and readily took on the task.

Du Heng didn’t waste any more time, took off his white gown and walked out.

But halfway there, he suddenly turned back, ”Buwei, lend me your car, my wife took mine.”

With the car key in hand, Du Heng stepped on the accelerator and left the backyard.

As Du Heng drove, he pondered, Should I buy another car?

Now that we’re living back on the mountain, Wang Shuqiu’s commute to work is a bit far. It’s truly inconvenient without a car. I also need to travel frequently for work, so not having a car is very inconvenient for me too.

And it’s getting embarrassing to always borrow Wu Buwei’s car.

He made up his mind. This time, no matter what, I’m buying a new car, one that I actually like. Even if Wang Shuqiu objects, I’m definitely buying it.

He thought of the saying, Wealth cannot corrupt, nor power bend one’s will.

I have to fight her on this to the very end!

During his journey, he constantly encouraged himself not to be timid.

Digestion Department 1 of Provincial First Hospital was usually busy, creating a sense of hustle and bustle.

But today, it was unusually lively.

In the department’s corridors, not only were people from their own department constantly looking in a certain direction, but people from other departments were also coming in and out. This was especially true for those from Gastroenterology Department 2 and Department 3, who were constantly shuttling back and forth.

Because of the actions of their former director, the staff of Digestion Department 1 had felt ashamed to lift their heads last week, as if everyone they encountered wore a mocking smile.

But today, although they didn’t feel utterly relieved, they could at least hold their heads up and confidently look at their colleagues from other departments, then show a smile.

It was all because the patient who had caused their former director to flee was now calmly sitting in the Reception Room of Digestion Department 1, neither anxious nor impatient.

What did this mean?

It meant that last week’s treatment had been effective.

It meant they no longer had to bear the reputation of treating someone into gastric cancer.

With one protagonist already in place, everyone was waiting for the other protagonist to appear.

They wanted to know the progress of the case as soon as possible and whether the patient had really improved. Furthermore, if the treatment was indeed effective, they were eager to learn the principles and methods of traditional Chinese medicine for treating Helicobacter pylori.

In the Gastroenterology Department, the biggest enemy is Helicobacter pylori.

Its presence is like psoriasis, difficult to eradicate, and it can lead to the most unacceptable consequences.

While those outside were anxious, some of those inside the Reception Room, including the patient and his family, were also very anxious.

It was the patient’s daughter, the girl who had done a live broadcast on her mobile phone.

A week ago, her mother’s treatment process had brought tens of thousands of viewers to her live broadcast room. However, that broadcast turned out to be her peak.

In the following week, she tried all kinds of ways, such as singing, dancing, and acting silly, but she not only failed to regain her popularity, the number of followers actually decreased rapidly.

Just as she was at her wit’s end, she read her viewers’ messages. They wanted to see her mother, not her acting coquettishly, or clowning in front of the screen, but her mother’s recovery.

When she turned the camera to her mother, the audience in her live broadcast room actually lingered, and the viewership even increased slightly.
