The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 841: Chapter 841: Scumbag Husband: I’m Taking a Concubine by Imperial Edict!

Mrs. Lu dismissed her son and just held Song Ruwei while sitting on the Arhat bed and talking.

”I see a hint of sadness between your brows. Is it because of your father’s concubine?”

Song Ruwei’s eyes reddened, and she threw herself into her mother’s arms, sniffling and complaining, ”Mother, I don’t understand. When our family was in the Northwest, even though our daily expenses and costs weren’t as refined as in the capital, we were happy. But after returning, everything changed.”

Mrs. Lu was shocked inside, her eyes also reddened, and she held her tightly. If it weren’t for her family being in decline and without support, and her low status, would she let a ten-year-old girl worry about her parents’ affairs?

Children of this age should be carefree, acting spoiled in their parents’ arms, instead of being like her, having to observe and analyze things at such a young age.

”My child, it’s not your fault, it’s mine for not being capable enough.” Mrs. Lu embraced her and said softly, ”Wei’er, you are still young, and you’ll understand later that a man’s promises can only be believed seven-tenths, keeping three-tenths in reserve.”

Song Ruwei looked up, her eyes filled with confusion.

Mrs. Lu touched her head, smiling with tears in her eyes, ”You’ll come to understand, in this world, not many keep only their Official Wife.”

”But Uncle and Second Uncle only keep Aunt and Second Aunt.”

Mrs. Lu paused and said, ”Yes, they are fortunate.”

Song Ruwei fell silent, who wouldn’t call it luck? Even her brothers and sisters are fortunate, not having any bothersome concubines to hinder their freedom.

”Good child, you are still young, don’t worry about these matters, and don’t meddle with adults’ affairs. Just focus on learning what you ought to learn.” Mrs. Lu advised, ”That Aunt Shen, bestowed by the Emperor, is also teaching rules and etiquette from the palace. If you can learn a bit of her essence, I won’t worry any longer.”

Song Ruwei felt moved.

She’s not foolish; in the Northwest, most women are bold and straightforward, lacking the gentle demeanor of women in the capital. Since returning to the capital, she had studied for two or three years and became more composed, but compared to her elder sister’s behavior, she still fell short.

As her mother said, if she can learn a bit of the essence, it will be beneficial throughout her life, even extending to her future daughter.

”Mother, I will definitely study well.” Song Ruwei nodded emphatically.

Mrs. Lu squeezed her shoulder appreciatively.

Night fell.

Song Zhiqing hesitated in front of Youran Courtyard, not daring to step through the gate he passed through daily. Yes, guilty, simply guilty.

Especially since in this residence, a newcomer awaited him to go over there, oh heavens, for the first time he felt that having multiple blessings was indeed poisonous!

There was some movement at the gate, and Shuanglu appeared, offering a bow to him.

”Master, Aunt is feeling unwell and has already rested, so she won’t be welcoming you. Aunt mentioned that you should go to Moyun Inn to rest.”

Song Zhiqing awkwardly said, ”Rested? If that’s the case, I won’t disturb her. I will return to the main courtyard tonight, you all take good care of the mistress.”

With that said, he left in a hurry.

Inside, Bai Shuilian heard the report, her expression indifferent, but her eyes were filled with hostility.

Song Zhiqing really did go to the main courtyard, but the courtyard door was closed early, the key locked, and not even the gatekeeper had any action.

Song Zhiqing: Am I being disliked?

He stood before the main courtyard for a while before heading to Moyun Inn, constantly reminding himself that he took a concubine by imperial decree, yes, by decree!

This reminder faded as he stood before the new room at Moyun Inn, seeing the beauty clad in water-red bridal attire, disappearing in a sea of red.
