The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 830: Chapter 830: Song Ci’s Disappointment

Chunhui Hall.

Song Ci glared at her youngest son, pinched his cheek, and lightly admonished, ”If you keep speaking so carelessly in front of your sister-in-law, see if I won’t sew your mouth shut. You have no respect for your elders.”

Song Zhiyu protested, ”Ever since I got married and became the son-in-law, mother, you’ve been disliking me more and more, you don’t care for me at all anymore.”

”Oh my, you’re already a father and still whining to your old mother. Aren’t you embarrassed?”

Song Zhiyu, trying to please her, gently massaged her foot with a beauty hammer and said, ”Even if I were ninety-nine, I’d still be your son and capable of whining to you.”

Song Ci spat at him and turned serious, saying, ”Mother is being serious. The third son is your half-brother. No matter what, you must respect your elders, especially in front of Honghong. Giving him face also means giving yourself dignity.”

”I’m just upset he made you angry. I’d be mad again if it happened.” Song Zhiyu pouted, and seeing Song Ci’s face darken, he added, ”Alright, alright, at most I won’t say anything in front of him, will that do?”

”You, you’ve developed quite the bad habit of being domineering.” Song Ci was speechless.

Song Zhiyu grinned, ”Isn’t it because you spoiled me?”

Song Ci extended a finger to poke his forehead, clicked her tongue, and said, ”Go accompany Honghong. Lest he cries upon waking and not seeing you, he’s still not familiar with the house.”

”Hmm. You should rest more and don’t let the anger harm your health.” Song Zhiyu advised gently.

”Alright, alright, you’re just so naggy.”

Once Song Zhiyu left, Song Ci lazily reclined on the Arhat bed by the window, resting on the well-cushioned pillow, and pointed to another spot, ”Nanny, sit, let’s chat.”

Nanny Gong obediently sat down.

”When we picked up the fifth young one, did that Bai woman show any reaction?”

Nanny Gong’s expression turned a bit serious, ”This is what I wanted to discuss with you...”

She recounted Bai’s behavior in a deep voice. Seeing Song Ci’s expression turn colder, she added, ”That woman appears composed, able to endure and feign generosity, I fear the third Madam might not be her match.”

Song Ci chuckled, ”Bai’s ambitions seem quite grand.”

If a person reveals everything in their expression, it’s quite easy to fathom their intentions, but someone like Bai, who feigns calmness and composure, makes it hard to discern their thoughts.

When you’re unable to grasp the other’s thoughts, it becomes difficult to take appropriate action, requiring constant vigilance to avoid falling into their traps.

”That’s precisely it, and so I gave some advice to Mrs. Lu.” Nanny Gong showed no hesitation in revealing the advice she gave to Mrs. Lu, even offering the red envelope she received to Song Ci.

Song Ci didn’t take it but simply said, ”Receiving your guidance is her blessing. Whether she’ll change remains to be seen, no need for us to say more. People grow through their own experiences; if a fall doesn’t hurt, a few more will make them learn.”

This tone seemed to express some disappointment towards Mrs. Lu.

Nanny Gong thought, it wasn’t just Song Ci; she too felt disappointed. After all, it’s not like she hadn’t taught her repeatedly, only to see little progress, which is a personal issue.

Alas, ultimately stemming from her humble background, unable to perceive the larger picture.

Song Ci took a sip of tea, when Chun Fen lifted the curtain and reported, ”Madam Dowager, the Prime Minister is coming over.”

Song Ci: ”...”

It’s exhausting to deal with these filial children and worthy grandchildren one by one, why don’t they all just come at once.
