The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 809: Chapter 809: You’ll Lose Me Very Soon If You Keep This Up

Military orders are as unyielding as mountains, and discipline as unwavering as iron.

These seven short words hit young Song Lingzhao like a heavy hammer, making him recall them whenever he was tempted to soften his heart due to personal feelings, thereby steeling his heart like iron and becoming truly impartial and trustworthy.

Seeing Song Lingzhao’s awe-struck and excited expression, Song Ci chuckled: ”What’s the matter, are you overwhelmed by your grandmother?”

Song Lingzhao bowed deeply: ”Grandmother is a person of great wisdom, and your grandson is in awe.”

”Grandmother doesn’t need your admiration; she just wants you to remember it well, to be strict with yourself, and to adhere to both decorum and laws. Only when you conduct yourself properly can you be a good leader and role model. Otherwise, how can you lead by example?”

Song Ci smiled and said: ”The reason grandmother says military orders are like mountains is that a good general, by mastering this principle, can develop a lion-hearted army as fierce as wild beasts, invincible on the battlefield.”

Song Lingzhao, stirred, said: ”Does grandmother also know about military affairs?”

”I don’t know, but understanding large concepts from small examples is universal. For instance, if you’re a general leading soldiers, but someone close to you disregards your order because of a minor matter, and you consider letting it slide due to their plea, then what do you think other soldiers will do once they know? They’ll follow suit, thinking you’ll let them off lightly too.”

Song Lingzhao stiffened.

”Zhao’er, being lenient is not wrong, but when it comes to military orders, you must uphold the law without sentiment to become an outstanding general. Only by nipping it in the bud the first time will you avoid subsequent dilemmas. Soldiers must clearly understand your limits, comply with and respect them unconditionally, then you can lead a strong army.”

”Being a good general is no easy task. The responsibility is great because behind him are his soldiers, the people of Great Qing, and even his own family. It’s not just about brute strength or martial skills.”

Song Lingzhao said: ”Fourth aunt also said this. She said it’s not difficult to become a general, as you only need to accumulate enough military merits, but being a renowned general is very hard.”

Song Ci said: ”I have a little story here — do you want to hear how details can determine success or failure?”

”Please, grandmother.”

Song Ci then began to recount the famous story of how a kingdom was destroyed by just one nail.

Song Lingzhao listened, breaking out in a cold sweat, stunned: ”Grandmother, is there really such a thing?”

”Who knows, perhaps in another time and space, similar things are happening. So details are the foundation of success. You should cultivate the ability to observe and use them, also known as learning the ins and outs. You should take some lessons from Jie’er.”

Song Lingzhao thought to himself that apparently, little brother’s cunningness is well acknowledged.

Song Lingjie: I’m cunning, and proud of it!

When the carriage returned to the Prime Minister’s Mansion, Song Lingzhao was still savoring Song Ci’s words, breaking them down piece by piece, increasingly finding them full of wisdom.

Song Ci, seeing him so absorbed, didn’t disturb him, but simply held onto Nanny Gong’s hand as she got off the carriage and headed toward Chunhui Hall.

”Nanny Gong, do I seem very much like a grandmother today?” My goodness, she was blown away by herself, feeling like she could become a psychologist.

Nanny Gong: ”It’s truly rare, you’re actually serious for once.”

Song Ci: ”...”

If you keep this up, you’ll soon lose me!
