The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 822: Chapter 822: The Matriarch’s Experienced Methods

Song Ci unleashed a harsh scolding, and neither Song Zhiqing nor Mrs. Lu dared to refute. Especially Song Zhiqing, who was in the wrong, could only admit his mistakes repeatedly, hoping that the old lady would finish her berating soon.

”Concubine chambers are the root of family chaos. Ever since I knew you had brought in a newcomer, I anticipated this day. Look at the chaos in your house! If word gets out, where do you put your face? Fighting with the legitimate wife, have you been bewitched by a vixen and gone mad?”

Song Ci said coldly, ”I warned you when she entered the house, be obedient. The Song Family does not lack a bite to eat for her, but if she stirs you to cause turmoil in the Song Family, I will not tolerate it.”

Song Zhiqing hurriedly said, ”Mother, it’s not related to White. It was because your son couldn’t bear the servants looking down on my younger siblings, saying...”

He was at a loss for words.

”You feel heartbroken for the two sidelined children? Then I ask you, where were you at the beginning? When you were with White, you should have expected this day. Without a concubine, where do sidelined children come from?”

”Young Third, I thought, being born of a concubine, you’d better understand the various restraints of your status. But look at you, blinded by beauty, forgetting the difference between legitimate and sidelined. It’s not the servants looking down on Little Five and the others; it’s you, as a father, who created their status, no one else to blame.”

”Once you achieved glory, you became frivolous and rash, acting without thinking. Young Third, with this demeanor, how far can your future path go?”

Song Zhiqing froze.

”Young Third, I know that in your heart I’m nothing more than a face-saving caretaker mother, always feeling that since you didn’t crawl out of my belly, there’s no genuine kinship. But you ask yourself, have I ever treated you and Zhiniang unfairly? Was there ever a shortage in your food, clothes, or expenses? I even supported your studies, helping you become a scholar, not even your Second Brother received that. So, do I owe you or not? In other families, how many do what I’ve done?”

For sidelined sons, not being overly indulged and ruined is already giving face; should I meticulously cultivate them?

Unless that family has no legitimate sons—then dream on!

Song Zhiqing lay prostrate on the ground, respectfully said, ”Your son knows mother has always been good-hearted, and genuinely regards you as a true mother.”

”I don’t ask for your recompense, just remember you are a Song Family member. Since I did not spoil you from the start, it’s an acknowledgment of your status. In the future, you will have a share in the Song Family. Equally, you bear the responsibility to preserve the Song Family’s reputation and development. If you fail to cherish this, I will have to decide to separate you from this house, and whether you stir trouble or not, I won’t bother.”

Song Zhiqing and Mrs. Lu turned pale, quickly bowed and confessed, ”Mother, we know our mistakes, we just wish to serve by your side.”

Song Ci cast a sidelong glance at Mrs. Lu and said, ”Why are you pleading with him? Weren’t you going to petition for a divorce?”

Mrs. Lu’s face burned with embarrassment, stammering, ”Mother, your daughter-in-law was momentarily blinded by ignorance. Please don’t be angry.”

”And you, Young Third, weren’t you planning to register Little Five and the others under the legitimate mother’s name? Once you leave this house, you can do whatever you like, and no one can criticize you.”

”Mother, your son was impulsive, I, I...” Song Zhiqing shamefully prostrated himself.

Song Ci snorted coldly, ”Since you’re so heartbroken, let’s do this: nurturing children is Mrs. Lu’s duty. From today, move Little Five and the others to the side room in the main courtyard. As for White, just let her dutifully serve you; she will not need to concern herself with the children.”
