The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Liaozhai Live Scene

After some effort persuading Song Zhiyuan and his wife to leave, Song Ci turned around and went to her small Buddhist chapel. Respectfully, she lit an incense stick in front of the Bodhisattva, bowed, and then placed it into the incense burner.

Nanny Gong noticed her unprecedented devotion, a trace of worry flashing through her eyes. She wondered what the Empress Dowager had dreamt of to be so frightened.

But what else could cause her such terror, if not matters concerning the Song Mansion?

Nanny Gong silently retreated and closed the door, standing guard outside the small chapel, her expression slightly cold.

Song Ci knelt on the prayer mat, clasped her hands, and murmured quietly for a moment before opening her eyes.

”Are you here? If you are, let’s have a little chat?” Song Ci muttered tentatively.

Since the last time she dreamt of Empress Dowager Song, that dream-like illusion always made her feel that the lady never went far after reincarnation and she always thought she was watching somewhere in this mansion...

Hiss.

Song Ci sheepishly stopped herself; this wasn’t some ghost story; she shouldn’t think so eerily like that.

But she couldn’t help it. Otherwise, what was the meaning of dreaming about the old lady last time and the things she said? Could it be pointless, deliberately painting big lies to deceive her?

If not, then what she said about protecting the Prime Minister’s Mansion, was it because of the nightmare she just had?

But those haven’t happened yet, how could it be?

Song Ci frowned, particularly vexed and annoyed. She hated delving into conspiracy theories, having to guess and speculate made her even more irritated.

”This must be deliberate, deliberately testing me.”

Song Ci grumbled softly.

But the chapel was as quiet as a chicken, not a single sound.

She waited for a while longer, seeing no response, she assumed a ’break the jar’ attitude and said, ”I don’t care anymore, let things be as they will. I’m not a savior who can rescue the world, saving the Song Mansion from danger. If you want me to help avert disaster, at least give me some hints. But there’s none. Anyway, if we’re going to die, we’ll die together, and it’s not like I haven’t died before. I’ve reached this age, dying is a profit...”

Whoosh.

Suddenly, a gust of wind swept through, making the incense and the lights in the incense burner flicker, almost going out.

Oh my god, this is like a ghost story in reality!

Song Ci’s eyes widened as she looked around, shivering, and said, ”Come out, I know you’re here. No need to scare me with these tricks; I’m not afraid, because you’re already dead.”

Bang.

A painting of the Bodhisattva hanging on the wall suddenly fell down.

Song Ci screamed in fright.

Nanny Gong, hearing the noise from outside, hurriedly approached and knocked on the door, ”Empress Dowager?”

”It’s nothing, the Bodhisattva painting fell,” Song Ci replied from inside.

Nanny Gong: ”...”

Song Ci went to pick up the Bodhisattva painting, rehung it angrily, and said, ”You scared me, you scared me again. What’s the benefit of scaring me to death? If I died, you’d even cry without tears!”

Silence fell.

Song Ci, feeling helpless, thought about it and then said in a bargaining tone, ”Since you won’t come out, tell me, am I supposed to protect the Song Mansion because of that nightmare I had? Bring a gust of wind if it’s true.”

No response.

Song Ci frowned, was it not?

She keenly observed that one of the incense sticks in the burner suddenly went out.

Song Ci’s eyes widened as she walked over to look at the extinguished incense, her expression changing.

Is it really true?

”Are you kidding me? Do I have the capability to avert such a great disaster? You’re setting me up!”

This is a calamity that could wipe out the entire clan; what capability does she, Song Ci, have to lead the Song Mansion through it?
