The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Do Not Say That Advancing in the Imperial Exams is Easy

Song Ruqi returned to the private room and unsurprisingly received knowing and teasing glances from everyone, causing her cheeks to flush.

Song Ci teased her, ”Qi’er is truly fortunate; this Qi San seems quite impressive to Grandmother.”

Song Ruqi pouted, ”Grandmother...”

Fortunately, Song Ci couldn’t tease her for long because the results were being posted.

”Here it comes, here it comes.”

No one knew who shouted excitedly from below.

Song Ci was also helped to the railing to watch the commotion. Sure enough, a civil official in formal attire, accompanied by two guards, brought out a sealed Imperial List, unrolled it, and pasted it on the wall.

As soon as it was posted, the people below went wild, surging forward to view the list.

”Ah, ah, ah, I made it, I made it! I’m ranked two hundred and ninety, I made it!”

”Awoo, awoo, awoo, I’m eighty-sixth, I made it too!”

”Brother Zhou, you’re seventieth and I’m seventy-first, we both made it!”

”Father, Mother, your son made it, sob sob...”

”Hahaha, my Young Master made it!”

”Madam, the Young Master has become a Scholar.”

”Brother Lin, where’s your name, did you see it?”

”How is it possible? How could I not make it? This is impossible...”

Some were delighted, others were distressed.

Those who were listed were overjoyed, leaping three feet high.

While those who were not listed knelt on the ground, dazed and despondent, wailing and crying bitterly.

Human nature in all its diversity, the myriad aspects of worldly life.

Song Lingsu and the others watched these scenes unfold, feeling both excited and inexplicably melancholic, wondering if they would be like them in the future, anxious, nervous, joyful, or forlorn.

Seeing the pensive expressions of several young men, Song Ci curled her lips and said, ”It’s often said that achieving success in exams is as hard as climbing to the heavens. As you can see, studying is difficult, and becoming a Scholar is even harder. It requires a lot of time and effort, but your efforts will be rewarded in the end.”

Drink this bitter medicine and strive forward, young ones!

Song Lingzhou, however, said, ”But Grandmother, that person didn’t make it, so isn’t all his effort in vain?”

Song Ci followed his finger and saw an old man with graying hair, and said calmly, ”How could it be in vain? Effort doesn’t guarantee success, but without effort, success is impossible. Only through effort can you understand that apart from effort, talent is also significant.”

Everyone: ”...”

So are you saying that person lacks talent?

”Madam, he made it, Yan the Scholar also made it,” a servant joyfully reported.

Song Ci was immediately pleased, ”Really, what rank?”

”He is ranked third,” the servant replied happily. ”The first rank is Cui family’s Young Master Cui Changxiao, I have also noted down the top twenty, and in our household, there’s also Ding the Scholar and He the Scholar, who both made it. He the Scholar is exactly three hundredth.”

”Oh, that’s truly lucky!” Just barely making it into the top three hundred, even if just in the third tier, he’s still a Scholar.

Hong You stepped forward and took the copied list from the servant and handed it to Song Ci.

Song Ci glanced at it, seeing that the top candidate was Cui Changxiao, the second was an old Scholar from Wuzhou, and the third was Yan Zisheng.

She looked further down, and with a smirk, saw that Wei Duanxiu was actually ranked fifth.

Considering this, if that Wei performs well in the palace examination, he might contend for the first tier.

Truly annoying.

Song Ci stopped looking at the list, smiling, and declared, ”Today is a great day, filled with good news. Reward everyone.”

The servants gratefully thanked her for the reward.

Just then, exclamations erupted from downstairs, ”Ouch, don’t tear it, that’s new clothes...”

”Scholar sir, my young lady is as beautiful as a fairy and our family is wealthy...”

With a smile, Song Ci leaned in to see, and finally, the scene of catching a son-in-law from the list appeared!
