The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Not Stupid At All

Song Zhicheng left his own courtyard and headed to the eldest brother’s study, his expression somewhat unpleasant.

Song Zhiyuan had just finished discussing political issues with Mr. Jun and others. Seeing his second brother come in, he asked the servant to bring a pot of Pu’er tea.

”Who upset you?”

With a dark face, Song Zhicheng said, ”Brother, do you know about the third brother?”

Song Zhiyuan raised an eyebrow: ”Here for the third brother? You must be free.”

”You really know.” Song Zhicheng glared and frowned, ”What is he up to, really can’t stand being lonely and took in a new concubine? Or is there something about that woman surnamed Bai’s background?”

Song Zhiyuan poured him a cup of tea and said, ”When people came from Datong to deliver for the Autumn Festival, I sent someone to investigate. Bai’s background is clean and traceable.”

Song Zhicheng’s brows tightened: ”If her background is clean, then has she truly captured his heart?”

”Yes, she’s captured his heart, but it’s too clean and natural. We need to investigate further.” Hearing the report from his men, Song Zhiyuan said, ”Bai’s tactics are high, hitting men’s weakest points everywhere. The third sister-in-law is far inferior to her.”

Song Zhicheng’s pupils shrank, his face darkened further, and he said, ”Finding someone like this to compete with his wife, he’s really something else. The wife just returned to the capital with the child, and he’s already taken in a newcomer. Is he looking for trouble on purpose, or does he think our household is too peaceful?”

Song Zhicheng had a straightforward nature and did not favor concubines. His thoughts were similar to Song Ci’s: too many women invite trouble, and with many children, if they are not from the same womb, it’s easier for estrangement to grow, and closeness is limited.

So, he had no interest in concubines and disliked such messiness.

In his view, his own wife was the best in the world, and compared to her, other women were trash. Why look for trash when you have the best?

”He’s always liked these soft and helpless women. This Bai is exactly his ideal type,” Song Zhiyuan said indifferently.

Song Zhicheng sneered, ”Ideal? So back when he was kneeling in front of our parents, insisting on marrying the third sister-in-law, what was that? Isn’t that embarrassing?”

”The third sister-in-law, when she was young, wasn’t much different from Bai,” also a soft and helpless person.

Song Zhicheng: ”...”

”Whether he takes a concubine or not isn’t my business, but writing to mother to ask her to mediate and comfort his wife—Brother, has he become stupid being an official?” Such a thing—how foolish.

Song Zhiyuan stroked the little Amitabha on the tea tray, speaking lightly of Song Zhiqing’s intentions: ”His term is up next year, and he wants to transfer back to the capital. Showing weakness is part of it.”

”This can still be showing weakness?” Song Zhicheng felt his worldview had been refreshed. Isn’t taking a concubine supposed to be pleasurable, not showing weakness? Bah!

”Husband and wife separated, father and son not together, emotions are bound to be a bit lacking. A boy should have his father around for better upbringing.”

Song Zhicheng laughed coldly, ”That may not be the case. Our father wasn’t exactly reliable, and yet, didn’t you still grow up to be so capable? In my view, it doesn’t matter if the father isn’t around as long as the mother knows what she’s doing.”

Song Zhiyuan rather enjoyed the compliment and said, ”In any case, he delivered such a handle, making me feel keeping him outside might lead to mischief, better to have him under watch. Believe it or not, he’s probably written to father, hoping father will say nice things for him. Old second, third brother is indeed good at playing politics, he’s not stupid at all.”

Not only is he not stupid, but also a bit clever.

”No way, are all officials this conspiratorial?”

Song Zhicheng expressed his disgust.
