The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 361: Chapter 361: A Warning? Guidance?

I, Song Ci, do not favor illegitimate children, only legitimate sons and grandsons.

At first glance, as the official wife, Madam Lu could completely relax, but she felt more awkward because Song Zhiqing is an illegitimate son, and she is also an illegitimate daughter-in-law.

For a moment, Madam Lu suspected that Song Ci came to actually warn their third household, warning them not to cause too much trouble, or else they’d be kicked out to live on their own.

Living on their own wasn’t a problem, being one’s own master seemed too good, but the issue was that among the several brothers, only they, an illegitimate branch, would be separated. What would outsiders think?

And the Prime Minister’s Mansion was in its prime, especially since Song Zhiyu was betrothed to a Commandery Princess from the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, even Song Ruqi was engaged to the Duke Ying Mansion. Each of these marital alliances was prestigious!

Even a fool would know that this thick golden thigh of the Prime Minister’s Mansion should be held onto tightly, hoping to be separated and live alone was an act of pure foolishness.

Madam Lu was not foolish, she knew what was beneficial for her, especially with Song Zhiqing having taken a new wife. For the sake of herself and her three children, they absolutely could not be separated.

”Mother, I understand, I will carefully raise Zhou’er and the others,” Madam Lu hastily expressed.

Song Ci nodded in satisfaction: ”You are a smart person, I have always known. As long as I am here, those children won’t be overtaken by any illegitimate sons or daughters.”

Madam Lu’s nose tingled, and she solemnly bowed to Song Ci.

”As I said, men are unreliable. You already have a son and a daughter, you should focus your efforts on them. As for whether you can win back a man’s heart, you are smart and need no instruction, but the focus should still be Zhou’er and the others,” Song Ci said lightly. ”If your children are successful, you will have no worries in the future.”

”Daughter-in-law thanks mother for your guidance.”

Song Ci thought of Song Ruwei, pondered for a bit, and couldn’t help but add: ”In raising children, don’t put too much pressure on them, don’t force them to follow your path, shaping them into what you desire. Even if they become what you want, they won’t be happy. Being too rigid is quite boring. I find that Ruwei is like this, so mature and old beyond her years, losing the innocence she should have at her age. A woman is only truly carefree when she is a girl, why deprive her of even this?”

”I know you are not someone who accepts defeat, to put it bluntly, you aim to be outstanding and there’s nothing wrong with wanting the best for your children, but you also need to know what is moderate. Your children are your lifeblood, but they are not your possessions. Excess leads to downfall, I hope you always remember these words.”

Madam Lu’s face alternated between red and green, wanting to say some words in defense, but not knowing what to say.

Seeing this, Song Ci didn’t say more, stood up, and said, ”I do not mince words, especially with daughters-in-law like you. If I’m too subtle, I’m afraid you might not understand. What I say, you can listen to if you wish, and if you find it unpleasant, just consider it nonsense from me.”

Madam Lu quickly said, ”Mother, receiving your guidance is a blessing for me as a daughter-in-law, I dare not have any complaints.”

”I don’t need your flattery, I’ve heard plenty of nice words. Today, what I’m telling you is all for the sake of the children, I’ve said all that I can, think more on this yourself.” With those words, Song Ci walked out, saying as she walked, ”The die is cast, if I were you, I would only focus on accumulating wealth and connections for myself and my children.”
