The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 380: Chapter 380: Xiang Fei, Are You Wearing It Too?

Midway through the palace banquet, Song Ci accompanied the Empress Dowager to change clothes.

Though called changing clothes, it was really about releasing the contents of her stomach and taking a short rest.

However, perhaps it’s because of happy events, the Empress Dowager seemed quite in high spirits, her expression much more relaxed.

”Congratulations, Empress Dowager, next year you will become a great-grandmother.” Song Ci said with a smile.

The Empress Dowager responded joyfully, ”Ah Ci, I am truly happy today. It’s been two years since Honghui got married, and finally, there’s news. I’ve waited too long.”

The nation will have heirs, even if it’s a prince of low birth, it’s good, especially since it’s the first imperial great-grandson.

”He will come eventually. For you, by next year, it may not just be one little imperial great-grandson.” Song Ci said with a smile.

This winter, the remaining princes will marry, and with the Eldest Prince setting the example, their primary task surely will be to produce heirs.

The Empress Dowager understood what she meant and said, ”I hope your words come true.”

The Imperial Family never fears having too few descendants, only having none.

”Speaking of which, I’m going to be a great-grandmother faster than you.” The Empress Dowager continued.

Song Ci replied, ”That’s true, you are blessed with more fortune than I.”

”Don’t worry, you will also have that day. Your eldest grandson is already 13 years old, nearly 15.” The Empress Dowager squinted her eyes and said: ”Now you can start looking at suitable noble ladies for him. Once he reaches 15, he can get married. You take a look at which noble lady suits your eye, and I can issue a decree for the marriage.”

Song Ci thought to herself, absolutely not, getting married and having children at 15, they’re still kids themselves, how can they be a good father.

For men, marrying a bit later is fine, if not for the imperial dynasty being so vigilant, she wouldn’t want Song Zhiyu to marry so soon.

Though she thought this, she couldn’t express it directly, so Song Ci smiled and said, ”Then I’ll accept this favor from the Empress Dowager. Once I find someone suitable, I will ask for your decree.”

The Empress Dowager chuckled: ”No need for formalities between us.”

Song Ci naturally wouldn’t take it seriously and deftly changed the topic.

After resting for two cups of tea, they returned to their seats at the banquet.

As soon as Song Ci sat down, she heard a foreign envoy mention that their country’s princess would perform a dance to congratulate the Emperor on his longevity and expressed their wish to form an alliance through marriage with the Great Qing.

Oh, this is effectively sending a woman to the Emperor.

Sending beauties from foreign lands to the emperor is a classic element of palace intrigue.

Song Ci instinctively glanced at several concubines and noticed their expressions were worse than when they heard Consort Xiao was pregnant, causing her to lower her gaze.

Suddenly, a gust of exotic fragrance wafted in, Song Ci looked up, unable to clearly discern the person, only vaguely feeling that the individual had removed their cloak and the scent intensified. There were exclamations from the other side as she saw butterflies fluttering in the hall.

Oh my, Huanhuan, have you arrived?

The music softened to a gentle, watery tune, as the beauty on the other side twirled and danced, the fragrance captivating the senses.

After the dance ended, Emperor Chu clapped, complimenting the fragrance as being truly unique, so much so that it attracted the butterflies, not letting them leave.

The envoy stated that Princess Ruyue was born with a unique scent, and butterflies were often drawn to her, reluctant to leave.

Emperor Chu, intrigued, observed the veiled woman in light blue kneeling in the hall: ”Lift your head and remove your veil.”

Princess Ruyue slowly lifted her head, removed the veil, and met his gaze.

Emperor Chu squinted his eyes slightly, after a moment said, ”What a beautiful princess like the moon, luminous and splendid. Issue a decree to appoint Princess Ruyue as a concubine, with the title of Fragrance, residing in the Chuxiu Palace.”

Consort Xiang bowed in gratitude.

Pfft.

Song Ci spat out her tea, Consort Xiang, how coincidental, did you also travel through time?
