The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 359: After modification: Chapter 359 Mother-in-law is Unhappy

Song Ci arrived at Plum Garden, and Lin Qing had also rushed over. As they stepped into Plum Garden, noticing the disarray, Song Ci couldn’t help but reprimand lightly.

”Why is everyone in such a panic? Go back to your duties. Where are the stewards? Are they all dead? Does no one know how to work without instructions?”

Everyone shrank back in fear, quickly kneeling to admit their mistakes.

The stewardess hurriedly dispersed the people, sending everyone back to their posts.

Song Ci glanced at her, catching sight of two daughters-in-law approaching. Her expression softened when she saw Jiang’s.

”Mother.” Madam Song and Jiang greeted Song Ci with a bow, ”We heard that the third sister-in-law fainted, so we came to check on her.”

”It’s nothing serious. This courtyard is a mess. Gu, make sure it gets tidied up properly. Jiang, you should return to your courtyard and rest. There’s no need for you to get involved here, lest these people upset you.” Song Ci feared that her hot-tempered daughter-in-law might explode upon hearing the reason for Lu’s fainting, endangering the unborn child.

Jiang wasn’t foolish; she could tell her mother-in-law was unhappy and obediently nodded, ”With you here, Mother, I’ll take my leave.”

Song Ci waved her hand and went inside.

As she entered, she saw Lin Qing withdrawing her hand from Lu’s pulse.

”How is it?”

”It’s a case of emotional distress causing her to faint. A simple acupuncture will revive her.” Lin Qing took the silver needle pouch from Ah Sang, selected a fine needle, and pricked the Yongquan point.

The moment the silver needle was applied, Lu faintly awoke. Seeing so many people around her bed, she was momentarily stunned. When she saw Song Ci, she opened her mouth, but tears flowed first, without a word spoken.

She felt too ashamed to speak.

Seeing this, Lin Qing said to Song Ci, ”The Third Madam fainted due to severe emotional distress. Her worries are too heavy, causing her to collapse suddenly. I’ll prepare a prescription to help regulate her mood.”

”Hmm.”

Song Ci nodded and also dismissed the others. She then asked Nanny Gong to bring a stool for her to sit down.

Lu, supported by Mama Zhou, sat up and forced a smile, nervously saying, ”I’ve worried you, Mother, it’s my fault. I beg your forgiveness.”

”No need for forgiveness. If you’re upset, there’s no need to force a smile. It looks terrible.” Song Ci’s face was stern, evidently irritated by her demeanor.

Lu’s eyes reddened. ”Mother...”

Tears streamed down her face.

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, when she heard the news brought by Mama Zhou’s son, she was overwhelmed with grief and anger, unable to breathe, as if something had hit her head, causing her to faint instantly.

Song Ci let her cry for a few minutes before handing her a handkerchief, saying, ”After you’ve cried enough, wipe your tears. Crying once is enough. Tears aren’t worth much; crying too much will make your eyes hurt and swell, worrying your children. So, just cry this once.”

Lu: ”...”

Sniffling, she looked at Song Ci helplessly, wondering what to do next.

”I’ll be honest with you, the third son sent me a letter too. In it, he mentioned that he took a concubine,” Song Ci got straight to the point. ”He wrote to me hoping I’d console you, afraid you’d do something foolish.”

Hearing this, Lu’s face turned alternately red and pale, looking awful. Her face, flushed with anger, showed in the handkerchief she crushed in her hand.

Song Ci’s expression remained calm, ”I won’t say much else. I only ask you: given the situation, do you need consoling from your mother-in-law? Or, would you do something foolish over such a man?”
