Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

”Qian Qian, did you hear what Grandpa said?” The old man was fiddling with the chess pieces, then glanced at Xia Qingqian and asked.

Xia Qingqian snapped out of her daze, nodded and said, ”Grandpa, I heard it!”

”Then come play chess with Grandpa!” The old man had already set up the chess pieces, just waiting to play with Xia Qingqian.

”Oh! Grandpa, I’ve recently become obsessed with chess too, let me have a match with you this time!” Beitang Huan entered from outside at this time, and upon seeing the set chessboard, her eyes lit up. After greeting others, she sat in front of the old man and said mischievously.

”Do you know how?” The old man frowned, looking at Beitang Huan, somewhat doubting she understood chess.

”What do you mean by do I know how? You haven’t touched chess pieces in ten years, maybe you can’t even beat me, a beginner!” Beitang Huan said proudly, ”If you don’t believe me, you can ask Qian Qian how my chess skills are! I’m Qian Qian’s disciple!”

The old man looked at Xia Qingqian doubtfully and asked with furrowed brows, ”Is what Huan said true?”

Xia Qingqian nodded and said, ”Grandpa, Huan is actually a master! I just played a few games with her, and she got it.”

”Dad! Weren’t you here to persuade Yao? Why are you in the mood to play chess now?” Beitang Ting was getting anxious seeing this.

”Didn’t you hear Yao has already stated his stance? His decision, can I persuade it with just a few words? It’s really lacking insight!” The old man gave his son a cold glance, continuing, ”I think Qingqian is a good girl, nothing bad. Back then, I asked you to marry Yao’s mom, what was your attitude? Since you dislike such arranged marriages, why make it difficult for your own son? The Beitang Family, as long as Yao is here, what do you have to worry about?”

Beitang Ting really didn’t want his son to be with a woman of unknown origin, let alone let her enter the Beitang Family!

But the old man had already said it to this extent, and he had nothing more to say!

He could only look at them with resentment. The man in front of him, clearly his own son, but they seemed not like father and son, more like enemies!

”Dad! Let’s not talk about what happened back then!” Beitang Ting avoided past events. Just thinking about the mistakes he made in the past sent cold sweat running down his back!

Regarding his wife’s death, he also had responsibility.

”Why can’t it be mentioned? Or are you feeling guilty?” Beitang Yao caught his father’s words, refusing to let go.

”Enough! Stop it! Can’t I even play a game of chess?” The old man got angry, his ears filled with their two voices, endlessly arguing, making him feel overwhelmed, ”Qian Qian, take Yao upstairs! I’m playing chess with Huan now!”

”Yes, Grandpa!” Xia Qingqian heard, then gently tugged Beitang Yao’s arm, whispering, ”Yao, let’s go upstairs first.”

Beitang Yao got up from the sofa, turned around, and left. Xia Qingqian glanced at the others, bowed, and said, ”Sorry, I’ll excuse myself now!”

Then swiftly following Beitang Yao’s steps, as Xia Qingqian entered the room, she was grabbed and slammed against the door by Beitang Yao. She gave a muffled groan of pain, her wide eyes staring at the handsome face that loomed over her, saying, ”Yao, what’s wrong?”

Beitang Yao placed his hands on the door panel, encasing her between the door and his strong arms.

Leaning down to gaze at her, he said in a low voice, ”Qingqian, I just want to hug you.”
