Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Moreover, with every move the old man made, he was extremely cautious, which left her feeling tense throughout the match!

When she used to watch the old folks play chess in the park, they were always unwilling to admit defeat. Qiao Zhenyu was often pinned down by the elders, who insisted on winning against him! Out of kindness, Qiao Zhenyu would often intentionally lose at the final stage.

Xia Qingqian had just employed the same tactic, because she, as the younger generation, couldn’t let Grandpa suffer a crushing defeat.

The old man, naturally, noticed that Xia Qingqian was letting him win, and although he felt pleased to win, he found it hard to accept having been beaten by this young girl.

What’s more, he had never been in such a difficult position even when matched with opponents before; even Beitang Yao was not his match. Beitang Yao could occasionally win against him, but those were scarce.

Unlike his first encounter with Xia Qingqian, where he lost so soundly without much honor!

”Everyone go out now, the game is over. Have the butler prepare some refreshments, the three of us should sit and have a chat.” The old man instructed gravely.

”Yes, Grandpa!” Beitang Huan’s cheerful laughter sounded, and she helped the old man to his feet. Xia Qingqian promptly moved to the other side to support the elderly man.

”Oh dear! Slow down! You two silly girls, Grandpa can’t sit for long now, sitting too long makes my back ache.” The old man glanced at his beloved chess set, ”Oh dear, my precious chess set isn’t tidied up yet.”

”Those few broken chess pieces are no big deal! Let’s go have some refreshments first!” Beitang Huan followed his gaze to glance at the two piles of chess pieces and said indifferently.

The old man turned his head, raised an eyebrow and glanced at Beitang Huan, saying in a deep voice: ”Ignorant! These chess pieces are passed down from the Kangxi era! In this family, no one else has the keen eye like Qian Qian, who recognized it with just one look!” There was a tone of appreciation in the old man’s voice.

”Wow! Grandpa, I haven’t heard you praise someone in so long! It’s really not like you. If you’re not convinced, you might as well challenge Qian Qian again!” Beitang Huan chuckled secretly, looking at Grandpa with newfound admiration.

However, all this credit goes to Xia Qingqian. Since she entered the castle, Grandpa’s temperament has changed considerably.

That man who never accepted a woman with no family background, what broke Grandpa’s longstanding rules? Or is it that Brother Yao can indeed protect Xia Qingqian, ignoring any dissenting voices?

In truth, Beitang Huan also felt uncertain inside. Xia Qingqian was such a good person. If one day Brother Yao were really unfaithful to Xia Qingqian, she didn’t know which side she would stand on.

On one side was her family, on the other was her benefactor who saved her.

She hoped that the two of them could truly be together.

”Haha! I’ve become Grandpa’s defeated underling, not playing anymore, not playing anymore!” Xia Qingqian quickly shook her head and waved her hand, then squatted down to pack up the chess pieces, putting them all into the ceramic chess box, and handed it to the elder, ”Grandpa, your chess skills are impressive to me!”

Actually, in the last round, she might not have been able to trap Grandpa; it was only when the old man was hesitating and made a rushed, errant move that she got the chance to trap him.

”Girl, is your chess skill learned from that friend of yours?” The old man took the chess box and looked at Xia Qingqian, asking.
