Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1278: Chapter 698: Exaggerated Gains (2)

There’s also the trouble with Supernatural Power; it’s not just something Lance mentions casually. Other Transcendents are even more fearful.

Some equipment effects are incredibly powerful, but their side effects are equally unbearable, making them highly risky.

Similarly, some equipment might suit one person but not another, and having limitations is not surprising.

Thus, Lance is generally quite cautious when using these items, which is why they’re rarely mentioned.

Of course, more directly, Hamlet’s Transcendent equipment is too scarce. The decision of the evil cult leader indeed blocked Lance’s path to obtaining equipment, with most gifts from sacrifices still concentrated on him alone.

The [Demonic Bell] and [Void Annihilation] are typical examples; one has side effects too severe for ordinary Transcendents to manage, while the other is a tool for communicating with the Limping Walker, unsuitable for others.

Moreover, Hamlet has regulations for managing those Transcendent artifacts. The equipment doesn’t belong to them; they only have the right to use it and must return it after the task, filling out forms in the process.

The complex management system and scarce equipment selection make them less inclined to apply, and most are confident in their own strength without the habit of using equipment.

Only a few special items have been entrusted by Lance to them to enhance strength, such as Reynard’s Sunlight Ring, Boudica’s Legendary Bracers, Alhazred’s Purification Coral, and...

”Damn!” Lance suddenly seemed to remember something, exclaiming instinctively, ”I forgot to get the Touching Gold Talisman from Audrey!”

At the time, to enhance Audrey’s strength, the Touching Gold Talisman was returned to her but was forgotten after the battle, showing Lance was indeed exhausted then.

Lance wasn’t too concerned, though, since no one else could use it, and Audrey couldn’t escape either.

Now, he was more focused on the equipment. Having more options might solve the current predicament, and selecting a batch for the Honor Guard to enhance strength was also feasible.

Lance glanced through the equipment; the low-level ones were abundant, many even duplicates. However, their actual effects weren’t good, with minimal boosts and significant side effects, only a few valuable ones were selected.

For example, in the renowned Magic Stone series, only the [Speed Magic Stone] is relatively more valuable, as it has no negative effects and can increase speed.

Moreover, they are numerous, ample to equip the Honor Guard.

This standardized equipment is more appropriate for military management because the military personnel are accustomed to firearm management systems.

Most importantly, in combat, greater speed means taking action to kill the enemy before they do, significantly enhancing combat power.

Lance could see that these low-end items were likely collected after the ancestor sacrificed the entire Hamlet.

Transcendent artifacts are rare, but being able to produce them indicates they’re not beyond replication.

Conversely, low-end Transcendent equipment is widely circulated due to low production difficulty, making them affordable, even slightly skilled mercenaries might possess them.

Not to mention, a flourishing Hamlet must have had many Transcendents, even those the Church couldn’t stop.

Though the medium to low-end equipment was plentiful, occupying the majority, the real treasures were yet to come.

Lance kept researching and documenting the equipment’s conditions, discovering many interesting items and continually selecting usable ones.

Among the equipment, Lance was pleasantly surprised to find a valuable item.

A cloak with a primary bright yellow hue and golden patterns, its fastening buttons shaped like suns.

Upon acquiring it, Lance immediately recognized its power, undoubtedly similar to the Sunlight Ring being used on Reynard, previously obtained from Tamara’s collection.

The [Sunlight Cloak] also enhances the bearer by absorbing the power of light.

Lance recalled Tamara’s previous description, roughly understanding it was part of a set.

In reality, this equipment wasn’t much compared to other true treasures, yet finding part of a set brought a collecting thrill.

Simply put, it was fun; even in age, a man remains a youth at heart.

Items being selected were increasingly numerous and superior, increasingly rare, even singular.

Such equipment truly deserves the term precious, reflecting strength indirectly.

The sources of these items were likely relics of past Master-level Transcendents from Hamlet.

Many bore restrictions specific to distinct Transcendent paths, hinting at Hamlet’s past prosperity.

But this was hardly all; among the haul, there was a locked display case whose contents were unknown but tempting...

Having learned unlocking, though not as skilled as Audrey’s group of veteran looters, Lance still quickly opened it with some time spent.

As soon as it was opened, a horrifying aura emanated, prompting Lance to hastily close it, reinstalling the lock he had removed.

”Damn it! Where did the ancestor gather these from?”

Lance was startled, thinking they were good items but finding them all pollutants, no wonder it’s sealed, even the lock is a Transcendent item.

He’s unfazed but concerned about being in a city, where leaked aura could contaminate common folk, causing issues.

These items must have been collected worldwide by the ancestor, daringly touching what ordinary Transcendents avoid.

Other items can be set aside, but such things must stay by Lance for reassurance, swiftly stored back in the showcase.

This minor incident didn’t interrupt his excitement; in terms of Transcendent gear, many chaotic low-end pieces can’t match even a single high-tier item.

And the greatest finds were from the Dark Dungeon.

No need to elaborate on the handgun, it’s so potent it can effortlessly make a layman a sharpshooter, both fast and precise.

The downsides were merely slight spiritual unrest, still within acceptable limits.

The imbued power felt familiar to Lance.

He couldn’t help fondling the [Family Crest Ring], dropped by the butler at the start, bearing identical power.

Similarly, five items restraining the Limping Walker: scroll, map, medicine bottle, tentacle doll, candle.

These too carried similar power, invariably crafted by the ancestor.

Initially overlooked due to company, only now could Lance examine them.

The scroll’s prowess exceeded expectations, revealing myriad spells and rituals when cautiously opened.

Unlike scattered notes, these seemed like the ancestor’s own compilation of life and soul research.

Finding this, Lance was overjoyed; indeed, the ancestor was a genius, if the scroll’s contents could be absorbed, Hamlet’s medical techniques would dramatically escalate.

Despite having Panacea now, limited production obstructs full propagation, unaffordable to commoners, and Lance didn’t want dependency.

Hamlet had minor life research accumulation, but soul studies were truly undeveloped, solely touching upon mental research, still under exploration.

This could help Lance initiate related studies, sparing much cruelty and unnecessary trouble.

Just a glimpse proved challenging, the massive informational load overwhelming him.

A blissful concern...

With one of the five seals being this strong, would the others soar?
