Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1269: Chapter 694: I Am the Flame 10

Even though there was a guarantee from Lance, Amanda still felt a significant amount of pressure. After taking a deep breath, she finally took out an incense burner with a similarly unique design, which also seemed to be an extraordinary piece of equipment.

Although Lance was curious, he usually wasn’t interested in things belonging to his companions, and he didn’t feel compelled to take everything for himself.

He watched as Amanda lit a stick of incense, and the rising thin smoke seemed to carry a mysterious power.

After completing complex preparations, she officially began the unlocking process. In truth, this was how a transcendent should truly approach supernatural power. It was already fortunate that Lance hadn’t died from his reckless ways.

The amplitude of the pendulum of truth swung increasingly larger, but Amanda’s hand did not tremble. Lance realized that the power struggle had become apparent.

It’s just that Amanda was too weak, making it difficult to shake the ceremony.

Without wasting words, Lance directly blessed Amanda, providing her with a continuous flow of power.

Feeling the strong and powerful support, Amanda no longer held back, unleashing her full strength. The space fluctuated even more intensely for a moment, even Audrey could sense something was off because the blood mist was dissipating.

Suddenly, the ringing stopped, and Amanda’s movements also froze.

”Is it resolved?” Lance noticed something was off about Amanda.

”No...” Amanda’s face turned a bit unsightly. She looked up at the illusory blood mist in front of her and explained, ”What I just did was merely isolate it, not the actual ceremony.”

She worked so hard, yet all she managed to break was a negligible deception. In front of Lance, this was an embarrassment for someone as proud as Amanda, almost a humiliation.

But what could be said? Even breaking through the periphery meant her strength was formidable.

If a Heretic Priest was still presiding over the ceremony, she wouldn’t have even been able to break this much, but being lured out earlier was fortunate in some cases.

Lance halted the blessing and turned his gaze toward the unveiled object beyond the dispersing blood mist — a familiar yet strange void veil.

This was something Lance had seen before when he was dragged into Chaos Space by the Limping Walker summoned by the Saintess — dazzling and enchanting, like falling into the abyss...

Beneath the veil was the Cripple Walker’s Altar they had seen before, with two tentacles of unknown material twisted together, and at the center was a head-sized red energy orb, where fine void cracks continuously appeared and disappeared.

But compared to the one they encountered at the old mansion, this altar had many twisted, corrupted flesh attached to it, seemingly parasitic like the ones on the Limping Walker’s body, controlling the altar, also to siphon the Walker’s power.

The flesh extending from those altars tangled into a complex and bizarre Flesh Rite, with various implements in it, surrounded by a circle that seemed to be for those Heretic Priests hosting the ceremony.

Only, they were all gone.

Lance was indifferent to the rest, his gaze fixed on the few strangely shaped sacrifices on the ceremony, his breathing becoming rapid.

An ancient scroll.

A detailed map.

A vial soaked with strange tissue.

A candle with a tentacle as its base.

A grotesquely shaped tentacle puppet.

These five pieces of equipment all exuded a strange yet potent aura like the ancestor’s handgun.

And these pieces of equipment were connected to the Cripple Walker’s Altar through the flesh, suppressed by such a powerful seal, no wonder the Walker had difficulty breaking free.

As Lance observed these items, he couldn’t help but fall into contemplation.

What is it that requires these five powerful and special pieces of equipment, and the aid of the Limping Walker’s power to suppress it?

The items were right before him, and Lance became somewhat anxious, turning to ask Amanda.

”Can you break it?”

Hearing this, Amanda was already drenched in sweat — you are overestimating me. The complexity of such a ceremony might take someone a lifetime to research and still not figure it out.

This presumes there’s already some understanding.

But the flesh-constructed ceremony before her and the Cripple Walker’s Altar, she was seeing it for the first time in her life, with no clues at all.

Lance seemed to understand something but didn’t make things difficult for her. Instead, he gestured towards the Limping Walker.

”It’s gonna hurt a bit; you need to bear with it.”

The Limping Walker hadn’t even reacted to the words when Lance had already made his move, with black armor appearing on his hands, reaching directly into the ceremony trying to pull out those items.

Unsurprisingly, he encountered resistance. The flesh above seemed to come alive, entangling his hands, attempting to swallow the items into the flesh.

But Lance had no intention of holding back, forcibly wrenching the flesh-covered ceremony apart, destroying the ritual.

In that instant, Amanda and the others hadn’t reacted yet, but the Limping Walker wailed as if mortally wounded.

Lance couldn’t be bothered by this, heaving the items from the flesh, all while tossing two healing spells back to the Limping Walker — don’t die on me.

Once Lance forcibly extracted the five items from the flesh, the flesh-based ceremony without the support of crucial implements and power found it difficult to maintain its connection to the Limping Walker.

Lance was no longer courteous, reaching directly for the central Cripple Walker’s Altar, only to find it was heavier than imagined, or the flesh adhesion made it difficult to move for the time being.
