Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1262: Chapter 690: I Am the Flame 6_2

Amanda was also throwing Flying Daggers, except the power constantly erupting from them was trying to suppress the monster’s strength—that was exactly the advantage of a magic-weapon dual-cultivation class.

Unfortunately, this kind of attack couldn’t kill it; it only made it more berserk. Seeing this, Audrey actually used Shadow Sneak to retreat behind everyone, vanishing under the cover of the darkness.

But the Chaotic Horror Demon’s attacks weren’t going to stop. It squirmed forward in that eerie way, then whipped out tentacles tipped with 7-shaped barbed Bone Blades to grab at them.

”Get lost!”

Lance finished loading his hand cannon and didn’t bother with anything else, charging straight up. He was the only one here who could withstand a direct clash with the Chaotic Horror Demon.

Wolf Fang in his hand collided with the tentacle, but it only cut open a small slit—at least that’s how it was relative to the demon’s massive body.

Had to admit, Wolf Fang’s sharpness was great for mowing down mobs, but against a larger monster, the shape of a long blade was still not as effective as a greatsword.

But Lance never planned to trade blows head-on anyway. He pulled back slightly, whipped out an Incendiary Bottle, and hurled it hard at its head.

With that strength behind it, the glass bottle was no less than a shell, but the Chaotic Horror Demon wasn’t some target dummy that just stood there. It instantly lashed out a tentacle and slapped the Incendiary Bottle midair, shattering it.

The bottle struck the tentacle and burst with a crack, the fuel mixture inside spilling and running all over it.

The next instant, flames erupted, swallowing that thick tentacle. Under the billowing black smoke, the Chaotic Horror Demon thrashed wildly.

”Feel the purification of the flames!”

Lance had thought about it too simply. That one tentacle wasn’t much to the Chaotic Horror Demon at all; it actually swung the burning tentacle back at him. Now it was Lance’s turn to feel the purification of fire.

How the hell did this turn into putting a fire enchantment on the enemy?

Lance blocked with difficulty, stuck in a situation he couldn’t even complain about—after all, he was the one who’d thrown that thing.

Wang Cai, desperate to save his master, lunged at the towering Chaotic Horror Demon to bite and tear, but you had to remember: the demon was based on a Limping Walker.

And the Limping Walker’s void nature granted it the ability to rend the void itself. Wang Cai was facing an unprecedented crisis; just as he closed in, the Chaotic Horror Demon activated its void power.

Chaotic Shudder!

A bizarre force swept across the whole battlefield. Everyone instantly felt like they’d been tossed into a washing machine, the world spinning as even space itself seemed to wobble.

Amanda and the others had just drunk Holy Water, so they had some resistance. Lance’s physique and willpower held out—but Wang Cai, who was closest and the main target, wasn’t so lucky. He was directly shredded by that void power.

Hiss~ How terrifying can it get!

You bastard, you dare hurt my dog!

Lance flew into a rage, and in that rage he struck. Taking advantage of the demon’s distracted focus, he seized the opening, aimed the loaded hand cannon right at the monster’s head.

Point-blank cannon blast!

As long as he blew its head to pieces, once it lost consciousness, the instant sacrifice would drag it into the void.

Lance’s plan was great, but even a specially made fuse needed a subtle bit of time. The Chaotic Horror Demon that had just taken a cannon shot felt the immense threat; it twisted its tentacles, shifted its body, and pulled back.

By the time the cannon fired, the Chaotic Horror Demon actually dodged, but at least forcing it to retreat gave Lance the chance to check on Wang Cai.

Luckily, Wang Cai wasn’t fragile enough to be completely torn apart by the void. But when his body re-condensed, you could see purple-black power coiling inside his Spiritual Body, refusing to disperse, contaminating and corroding him and driving him into confusion.

Bless!

Lance acted immediately. That unrestrained flood of Spiritual Essence instantly blasted away the corrupting power, and Wang Cai’s phantom body solidified again.

”Get back here, that stuff will upset your stomach.”

Lance didn’t dare let Wang Cai back in anymore. A body made purely from Spiritual Essence lacked the anchor of flesh and was easily affected. Just because he survived this time didn’t mean he’d be fine the next; Lance could only call him back.

Wang Cai was unwilling, but he understood the situation. He turned and cast a wolfish glare at the Chaotic Horror Demon, not bothering to hide his hatred.

The Audrey who’d vanished with Shadow Sneak finally showed herself again, except she hadn’t run away—she’d gone to interfere in Boudica and the Heretic Priest’s battle.

She couldn’t beat the Chaotic Horror Demon and didn’t dare go near it, but her own life was still dangling on a thread, so she had to do something—that was the way to go.

The Heretic Priest probably never imagined it would turn into the ”soft persimmon.” But no one paid attention to its attitude; Audrey had already crept up behind the Priest and swung her iron pick down.

Back then she’d killed the Tomb Guardian with a cheap shot. Now that move came naturally to her.

Ever seen a cheap shot like this?

The Priest was already pinned from the front by Boudica, so it couldn’t dodge at all and took the blow directly. The iron pick pierced through the cloak and drove into its body; only then did Audrey’s figure fully reveal.

And that triggered a chain reaction, because Boudica wasn’t about to waste this chance—she hefted her axe-spear and chopped down.

Faced with this righteous two-on-one, the Heretic Priest just couldn’t hold up. In only a few exchanges it was already gravely wounded, one arm-tentacle hacked off, the spores clinging to the wound constantly corroding and limiting its regeneration.

Most of the damage was dealt by Boudica, but Audrey wanted to finish it to grab the first kill. Realizing this, she got a bit worked up.

And right at this moment, the Chaotic Horror Demon activated its power against Wang Cai, instantly affecting everyone.

The effects of the Holy Water basically carried them through it, but Audrey’s startup speed was far faster than Boudica’s.

She flicked out a dagger, and a second later it exploded into a fierce flash, swallowing everything in front of them.

But remember, Amanda had already used this trick before, proving it didn’t do much against the Heretic Priest. She’d seen that herself—so why use it again?

If you looked closely, Audrey’s Flash Dagger was thrown in the opposite direction of the Heretic Priest. The moment the flash erupted, she moved.

She darted into the shadow created when the flash swallowed the Heretic Priest, ripped out a dagger, and stabbed sharply down into the shadow on the ground.

Shadow Extinguish!

The harsh light faded, and the shadow shrank back into the Priest’s body. But if anyone had noticed, that shadow was actually sliced open where the dagger had nailed it.

It all happened in an instant. As the shadow re-merged, a strange power took effect, and the Heretic Priest screamed in a bizarre yet agonized wail as if gravely injured, its whole body convulsing before it collapsed to the ground, motionless.

Only then did Audrey pull out her dagger and flick it into a little flourish in her hand, perfectly demonstrating what it meant to show off.

Throw a Flash Dagger, use the burst of light to create a shadow, then unleash Shadow Extinguish.

The whole sequence flowed like water. It showed Audrey still had a few trump-card moves she hadn’t used yet.

By the time Boudica snapped out of that intense oddity, the Priest had already dropped dead. She only gave Audrey a glance, said nothing, and turned to join the siege against the Chaotic Horror Demon.

Audrey felt no guilt or awkwardness. This was called giving it her all; even if she were dragged before the Lord, she could back it up—the Priest was taken down by her.

She headed over as well. She still didn’t dare rush in head-on, but if there was a chance to perform, she wasn’t going to pass it up.

On the other side, Amanda’s attacks hadn’t stopped for a second; she kept throwing enchanted Flying Daggers, using the power on them to continuously weaken the Chaotic Horror Demon’s physique.

With the hand cannon attempt having failed and the demon pulling away, she tossed another debuff bomb. The repeated weakening drove it into a sluggish state.

At the same time, Lance kept tangling with it, ramping up his offense as soon as he sensed the weakening.

Lance was taking the brunt of the damage head-on, and his weapons changed accordingly—his left hand was already gripping a Shield, or he really wouldn’t be able to stand up to it.

Shield-and-blade fighter Lance strikes!

Having a Shield didn’t mean he was going to face-tank everything. Even Lance could barely endure the Chaotic Horror Demon’s raw, massive strength.

Not to mention the barbed spikes on its tentacles; tearing steel wasn’t anything special for them. That was the power of the Extraordinary.

The key point was that Amanda had weakened the Chaotic Horror Demon; otherwise Lance wouldn’t be able to handle it at all.

It felt like they could already see the hope of defeating the Chaotic Horror Demon.

Even Amanda couldn’t help sighing, the two of us together are just too damn strong!
