Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1268: Chapter 693: I Am the Flame 9_2

Lance seemed to sense something and took out the conch shell to blow.

The vast sound echoed in the space, as if bidding it farewell, and this also attracted the attention of those Heretic Priests.

They had just stopped the out-of-control chaotic demon, but they hadn’t forgotten Lance and the other invaders and immediately wanted to rush over.

But as soon as they moved, something grabbed them, those thick tentacles?

The Heretic Priest turned around and saw that the Limping Walker, which had fallen earlier, was actually squirming and getting back up.

Countless wounds on its body were healing at a speed visible to the naked eye, and whether caused by Bone Spur or cursed tentacles, were easily dispelled.

The Limping Walker raised its head and let out an indescribable roar, as if declaring its return.

But before these mad Heretic Priests could react, the Limping Walker had already responded, wrapping them up fiercely and slamming them to the ground, the exaggerated force unbearable even for a priest.

Describing it as a blood burst would not be an exaggeration, but instead of casually discarding them like before, the Limping Walker threw them towards Lance.

Lance steadily advanced, blowing the conch shell, and didn’t hesitate to perform a sacrificial ritual on the writhing mass of flesh entangled in black robes, the spiritual essence gifted to him bringing a smile to his face.

The cost in spiritual essence to save you was so high, you should be working for me now.

Those Heretic Priests are not pushovers; they managed to suppress you once before, and they can do it again. Losing one or two means nothing to them.

Countless Bone Spurs attacked the Limping Walker, but this time it didn’t stand firm, instead using its ability to stir the turbulence of space.

Chaos Disruption!

The force instantly disrupted the priests’ attacks, and unlike the previous uncontrolled power, Lance found that the Limping Walker could control this power.

So when confined within a limited space, its effect would only be stronger, this is the Aberrant Demon that stirs the void!

It wasn’t without injury, and the priests’ counterattacks were still fierce, but they were unlucky because the enemy they faced wasn’t just the Limping Walker; Lance was behind, directing and healing.

The Limping Walker didn’t waste words, picking up the priests and smashing them to pieces to throw to Lance.

With their perfect coordination, no matter how many enemies, they ultimately ended up in Lance’s pocket.

The priests’ generous offerings quickly replenished the consumed spiritual essence, and Lance truly had to thank them for making the trip.

Too courteous~

The battle ended, at least ten priests were eliminated, and the battlefield was full of chaos.

And now that the common enemy had disappeared, how should Lance handle his relationship with the Limping Walker?

The two sides paused to silently stare at each other, their auras making the atmosphere even heavier.

Amanda and her companions didn’t dare to say a word, not even daring to breathe heavily, for fear of disturbing the Lord.

”We are not enemies, and I’m not the one controlling you. I won’t restrict you in any way. Now you are free.”

Lance spoke first, having no time to waste on ”gazing tenderly” here.

After venting its crazed fury upon breaking loose, the Limping Walker calmed down and, upon facing Lance’s proactive concession, it suddenly leaned forward, aiming its head at Lance, mouth emitting a hollow sound.

Lance knew it possessed a certain intelligence to understand his words, and although their previous exchanges had been difficult, he hadn’t expected real communication.

Moreover, the Limping Walker’s attitude wasn’t one of oppressive command; it seemed it had been taught a lesson earlier, now knowing who the real boss was.

The two didn’t share a common language, but the [Enchanting Voice] had given him the ability to sense consciousness within sounds.

Amanda and her group were relieved to see no fighting broke out; no one wanted to battle such a formidable creature.

As for the Lord’s ability to communicate with monsters, they’d long become desensitized to such matters.

After a brief exchange, Lance realized things were far from simple; the Limping Walker wasn’t merely brought here to guard, but because the priests needed its power to safeguard something.

So, with the ritual still unbroken, its power wasn’t fully released, and it wanted Lance’s help to break free.

Upon hearing this, Lance became excited. No wonder so many priests appeared at once; whatever troubled the ancestors must hold something valuable.

However, Lance couldn’t agree so easily. The benefits of saving it hadn’t materialized yet.

Limping Walker, let’s talk terms!

”I can do my best to help you, but what can I gain?”

Lance wasn’t foolish enough to agree outright. Before, there were external enemies, and to save himself, he had to pull it up.

Now you’re telling me you’re restricted by the ritual, revealing your weakness and seeking my help. If I don’t take advantage, am I supposed to do charity work?

You don’t need to invoke any codes of honor when dealing with Aberrant Demons.

In this predicament, the Limping Walker fell silent, having been controlled for countless years, what could it offer?

Lance seemed to sense its difficulty, actively opening his mouth to hint.

”I want to eliminate these guys; they are the ones imprisoning and tormenting you. Our intentions align.”

No money? Then pay with service. A powerful enforcer like the Limping Walker, Lance wasn’t willing to let it go just like that.

Moreover, this was true, the ancestors imprisoned it. Lance couldn’t believe it didn’t harbor any resentment, as indicated by its earlier frenzy and revenge.

But the Limping Walker wasn’t foolish either, resentful? Certainly. Yet the pain of years of imprisonment and torment filled it with some fear, and had it not been for Lance’s intervention, it would have died earlier.

Its fiery vengeance had already burned out in the face of near-death, unwilling to ever experience the feeling of death or being controlled parasitically again.

Now it wished more than anything to break free completely and return to the void, leaving a place even Aberrant Demons were bullied in.

Lance understood this and secretly cursed: Don’t you dare face this? Dare call yourself a void demon? You’re a disgrace to the Limping Walker!

But that’s not what he’d say aloud. To defeat the ancestors, Lance was willing to unite any forces.

”I am with you.”

As Lance spoke, he placed his hand on the Limping Walker’s head and performed a Bless.

Under the purification of that pure power, fear was instantly eradicated, and the hesitant heart of the Limping Walker was firmed.

The Limping Walker raised its head with a low growl, and Lance comprehended, turning to call out to the others.

”Come, I’ve discovered something interesting.”

Amanda and the others, though shocked by the series of strange plot developments, approached nonetheless.

”How did those Heretic Priests appear earlier? There seems to be something sealed here. Let’s find that hidden place now.”

Lance briefly explained the situation, knowing the location was easy to find; it was precisely where the Heretic Priests had emerged earlier.

Next, Amanda had to take the lead. She pulled out an item resembling a bracelet attached to a hand-sized hexagonal metal prism, its extraordinary aura evident.

This extraordinary equipment, called the [Pendulum of Truth], was not an offensive weapon but rather one with special effects.

She picked up the chain and swung it, an inexplicable bell sound heard, and Lance, with his high intuition, noticed ripples spreading through the space.

As the force spread, the entire space rippled like water disturbed by a thrown stone. From the ripples’ feedback, Amanda sensed something and looked to one side.

”Found it!”

Amanda’s shout brought him back to reality from his thoughts, and he hurried over, brushing aside chaotic thoughts.

”Here, but there’s a layer of power disguising it; I’ll need some help.”

”Do what you need to.”

Lance understood what she meant, ready to assist at any moment.
