Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1270: Chapter 694: I Am the Flame 10_2

But this only intensified his determination to win. He steadied his stance and pulled out the altar, his muscles vibrating instantly, and his back arching high.

”Roar!”

With that ferocious shout, a brute force immediately pulled him free from the entanglement of flesh and blood, completely severing the connection between the two.

Lance raised the altar with one hand, tearing at the flesh entangling him with the other, and offered it in sacrifice, as the Void Devourer came completely erasing the power of that ritual.

At this moment, Lance glanced back at the Limping Walker fallen on the ground, the injury halted but the situation was not as anticipated.

Meanwhile, he could feel the complex eyes of the Limping Walker staring at the altar in his hand, as if it suddenly came to a realization.

The altar is the lifeline of the Limping Walker, whoever controls this altar controls the Limping Walker, the ancestor can do it, why not myself.

Lance lifted the altar for a closer look, becoming more mesmerized by the brilliant and alluring core of the void...

And the gaze of the Limping Walker shifted onto Lance, its uneven eyes seemingly able to sense its tension.

Unexpectedly, Lance resisted the urge to control, carrying the altar to the Limping Walker, and handed it over.

”I know what this is, but you shouldn’t doubt me.”

Saying this, he activated Flesh Reconstruction, rescuing it from severe injuries.

Lance’s thoughts were simple; the ancestor would need ritual power and five pieces of legendary equipment to control it. He couldn’t possibly waste such resources to restrict it or had the ability.

Moreover, the Limping Walker had just managed to break free from restraints, and being controlled again would fracture the relationship, erasing the foundation he had laid with so much initial investment.

Lance was unwilling to engage in a meaningless battle with the Limping Walker, regardless of winning or losing, as it would weaken his strength while possibly inciting a powerful Aberrant Demon’s hatred.

The current enemy remains the ancestor, and everything should yield to this goal.

The damage caused by breaking the ritual has been calmed, and the Limping Walker’s condition rapidly improves. It is hard to understand the emotions of a Void Demon but Lance’s decision undoubtedly moved it, grapping the altar with its tentacles.

At this instant, both held one end of the altar, completing a ”world-famous painting,” yet apart from a few witnesses, no one could record this moment.

Lance voluntarily let go, without the Limping Walker considering much, two of its most robust tentacles wound around both ends of the altar, applying force.

The nameless metal material which Lance couldn’t bend with full force was twisted directly under the Limping Walker’s tentacles, the following second perceiving a sound akin to glass shattering.

The energy body in the center of the altar fragmented, releasing a terrifying force, instantly countless tentacles stretched out to envelop the released energy, even the slightly leaking power from the cracks was enough to make the space turbulent.

Standing in the front, Lance felt how terrifying the power imprisoning the Limping Walker was, he just witnessed the core location’s space even being obliterated.

The swirling chaotic currents outside attached with bizarre power kept washing repeatedly, Amanda and other Transcendents approaching would likely be instantaneously distorted.

Indeed, even if Void Demons could communicate, their casually leaking strength could contaminate humans, only freaks like Lance, under Sanctuary’s protection, could endure so recklessly.

Moments later the energy storm dissipated, and the fully formed Limping Walker reappeared.

No significant changes in size or appearance, yet the deep, void-like power unconsciously emitted, capable of imposing terrifying pressure.

It’s as though a Spellcaster’s spellcasting ability was restricted, thus previously only fighting with physical strength, but their spellcasting ability has now been restored.

This is a mysterious feeling, hard to describe, but undoubtedly the Limping Walker has completely broken free from restraints.

Upon recovery, the Limping Walker immediately crouched toward Lance again, now this gesture was full of pressure and aggressiveness.

”Congratulations.”

Lance calmly yet casually, the manner truly seeming to offer congratulations, entirely unafraid of the Limping Walker breaching the agreement.

The Limping Walker did not attack Lance, instead extending an oddly shaped object from its tentacles.

It was the altar re-forged from that explosive power into a strangely shaped... calling it a magic wand seems too bulky, more akin to a warhammer.

Originally, two tentacles forked over and twisted into a braided shape, a tapered streamlined handle from the thick end.

The deep red energy sphere formed by void power remained, gripped like two hands securing it at the thick end as the hammerhead.

Lance, upon receiving it, felt the terrifying power, crafted by the Limping Walker utilizing the explosive energy, a slightly crude yet powerful warhammer—[Void Annihilation]

From the equipment’s name, it’s clear it’s a penetrating divine artifact, anything touched by the hammerhead will be annihilated by that force.

Yet, Lance was more concerned that upon wielding this item the panel displayed an additional trait.

[Alliance: Void Limping Walker]

Lance understood this item wasn’t just a warhammer, but also a tool for summoning the Limping Walker.

Lance raised the warhammer, looking at the Limping Walker, nodding slightly in signal, the two didn’t exchange words, yet seemed to understand each other’s intents.

The Limping Walker, reborn anew, after giving Lance an explanation had no reason to stay.

Only to see the Limping Walker suddenly raising its head, issuing a terrifying roar, exerting full strength, even the tentacles on its body were trembling.

Collapse Echo!

Even more terrifying was the power contained within that sound wave directly tore the space, a familiar void crack appeared, it seemed even the dungeon’s special environment couldn’t imprison its steps.

This further deepened Lance’s worries, for what grounds did the ancestor capture and imprison it for so long?

No one could answer these questions for him, however, the Limping Walker, before leaving, pointed its tentacle at the void curtain constructed by the ritual extracting its power.

Then the space mended, and the Limping Walker completely vanished before Lance, if not for the large empty space unfilled and leaving a blood mist, Lance would perhaps think this to be a fantastical dream.

After all, a human and Void Demon forging an alliance is indeed abstract...

Without further thought, Lance picked up the unique warhammer, headed to the curtain, and swung the hammer upon it.

The sphere hammerhead seeming fragile, yet nothing could contact it in reality, because the outside swirling annihilation field alone suffices to destroy everything.

Only materials surviving the void explosion could withstand that void’s power, Lance felt that even Wolf Fang touching it would cause trouble.

Without the ritual’s maintenance, just one hammering shattered the black curtain, revealing surprisingly was light.

Indeed, light beam piercing through the blood mist shining out, Lance involuntarily raised a hand to shield, adapting for two to three seconds finally seeing the scene before them.

Because of the blood mist’s veil, actually everyone’s vision wasn’t too good, plus the space being ample, none expected there’s a hidden part here.

Now breaking one ritual after another, they see many scattered items here, boxes, barrels, books and scrolls littering the ground, resembling a campsite.

Among them a small altar similar to displaying a Holy Canon inside a church, candles of different lengths placed upon, without burning, not the source of light.

Most captivating were the few diverse forms sitting cross-legged within the campsite, long-decayed corpses void of any signs of life.

Yet from these figures emanated a potent and pure holy force, supporting a domain preserving this camp.

Sanctuary!

Lance had previously seen Junia using saint relics to perform this trick, and these figures also carried evident church attire, the light source stemming from the ritual’s power.
