I AM the Football Star

Chapter 1223: Chapter 289: Me? You Can’t Compare to Me! (Early 19,000-Word Mega Chapter)

Therefore, teams that haven’t won the championship can still participate in the Spanish Super Cup.

Such situations have occurred twice in recent years.

One time was when Real Madrid’s Galaxy Battleship achieved a double victory in La Liga and the King’s Cup. The Barça team, which they defeated in the King’s Cup final, was given the substitute qualification and completed a comeback, securing their only trophy in three years.

The other instance will be the next one, taking place around next season’s winter break.

Once again, Real Madrid won both La Liga and the King’s Cup, and Atletico Madrid will play as a substitute.

In comparison, although the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup don’t have explicit clauses, they can also be included.

Because the European Super Cup is contested between the Champions League champion and the Europa League champion.

The FIFA Club World Cup is contested by champions of the Champions League, AFC Champions League, Copa Libertadores, African club champion, Central and North American and Caribbean club champion, Oceania club champion, and the host country’s team, totaling seven teams.

The prerequisite is meeting one of the four major championship requirements.

These special clauses are usually not exposed because both signing parties don’t mention them unless some changes occur.

But Barça is having serious problems this year.

Rosmei almost stepped down, and his competitor virtually laid bare the cards.

There’s no retreat.

Rosmei managed to turn the tables, but the opposition could only continue the wrongdoing.

At this time, club interests are no longer the most important.

Personal interests will prevail over collective interests.

If the issues don’t escalate, personal interests remain beneath collective interests.

This is because, when issues don’t escalate, even if lost, personal interests are not severely impacted.

However, after escalation, the losers’ personal interests will suffer a fatal blow.

Therefore, without absolute confidence, one must not overturn the table, or the consequences will be detrimental, not only personally but also to the greater collective.

Rosmei’s opponent struggled desperately, exposing this “supplementary contract” that should never have been revealed.

And the dissatisfaction with Lu Yang that has been suppressed by mainstream public opinion finally found a chance to erupt.

“French Football”: “Thought it was a sky-high price! Turns out it’s a contract with an empty check that may yield nothing!”

“Lu Yang could earn a maximum of fifty-five million euros a season, that’s correct, but the probability is approximately zero.”

“And in Lu Yang’s five years with Barça, there’s a high chance he could earn nothing for two to three years, and only about ten million euros in the remaining years, far less than what everyone hyped!”

With French Football leading, the Italian Republican Newspaper also joined in, being an old critic of Lu. Last year, San Remo fought for Serie A in the Champions League, shining for Serie A, and no one dared to criticize, leaving them quite constrained.

Unable to criticize Lu Yang for over half a year, truly frustrating and restrictive!

“Republican Newspaper”: “The world’s first zero-value gentleman is born! Lu Yang’s confidence in himself has ruined his next five years.”

“Once again, a warning to all fans, gamblers gain nothing! Never gamble! Even if you are Lu!”

This supplementary contract is a glaring betting agreement.

If Lu Yang wins, he not only gets an income of fifty-five million euros, but also a chance for a free transfer. Considering his transfer fee is seventy million euros, that free transfer chance is worth at least seventy million.

So in fact, Lu Yang’s maximum gain amounts to one hundred and thirty million euros!

But similarly, if he loses, he will serve five years at Barça with zero income, with Lu Yang’s loss also exceeding a hundred million euros!

This is a betting agreement of very fair total value.

However, the probability of Lu Yang winning is much less than that of losing.

Lu Yang’s head was clouded by miracles!

…

“I welcome any capable player to join Barça, but everything must be reasonable,” said current Barça captain Sacha Mebarak while stroking his large beard. “The club shouldn’t allocate more funds to gambling while most key players have been devoted for so many years!”

“It’s true that Mateo came from Barça’s youth academy, and his love for La Masia had him earning only thirty thousand euros a year when he joined Barça’s first team.”

“Even today, his annual salary is only three million euros from two years ago. This is Mateo we’re talking about!”

“I heard that next season, the higher-ups plan to renegotiate Mateo’s contract for a raise, but how much will it be? Five million or six million euros? Seems like a lot, doesn’t it?”

“But compared to the contract Barça just handed out, this money is insignificant! Barça must value and take care of its own players. This is a tradition of Barça and an important reason why the club stands among the world’s elite.”

“Most of our key players only earn about two million euros! Do the higher-ups know how they’ve been living all these years? They can’t even afford supercars and large villas! It’s too tragic!”

Mebarak has exceedingly high emotional intelligence, deeply understands diplomatic language due to family influence.

He is one of the actual leaders in Barça’s locker room, a core figure in the local faction.

He didn’t directly demand anything for himself, nor did he mention anything about the local faction.

Instead, he pushed forward Mateo.

You must give Mateo more!

Of course, Mateo sets the standard. Once Mateo’s salary increases, others can follow suit, rising appropriately with Mateo, can’t they?

The most outstanding trees in the forest attract the wind, Mebarak never desired for his salary to be the highest in the team.

But he would ensure his salary remains within the top group in the team.
