I AM the Football Star

”Transfer Daily: Manchester United sells former Mr. Golden Boy Michael Sobor for ten million!”

”Breaking news! Michael returns home! Sobor returns to Anfield, back to where his dream began!”

”Long-time Premier League fans are teary-eyed! Can Sobor be reborn at Liverpool, chasing the wind once again?”

Due to Lu Yang’s influence, He Gongliang has been closely following transfer news in Europe recently.

After all, one day in the future, he too will become part of that circle.

Everyone wants to get a preview of their future living environment.

It’s like young people preparing to buy a car, obsessively checking out BMW 3 Series or Mercedes C-level for a year or two before ultimately buying a Corolla or Haval H6 in a snap.

Gotta enjoy the thrill first.

”Manchester United is taking big steps! Bringing in Balera and Turan while letting go of Sobor, who didn’t perform well. They’d rather take a loss than settle; next year they are going all out for the Champions League and league title!” He Gongliang is quite professional, no wonder he’s in the football industry, ”They are only missing a super striker now!”

He Gongliang paused for a moment, turning to look at Lu Yang in the wheelchair.

Can it be that the forty million Manchester United mentioned earlier is not just talk, but serious?

This...

Can someone in a wheelchair really be worth that much?

”It’s not about buying me,” Lu Yang said, ”The transfer fee isn’t the issue; it’s my salary and injury that are the biggest concerns.”

”You’re saying they are unsure about your state post-recovery?” He Gongliang sighed; this is indeed a problem.

Traditionally, players who suffer major injuries usually see their market value drop, and Lu Yang is no exception.

Many talented players fade into obscurity after injuries.

However, Lu Yang shook his head and said, ”That doesn’t matter, because those who are interested in buying me are betting on my ability to constantly create miracles. They are gamblers, and gamblers don’t care about risks.”

”Manchester United or any team considering buying me worry that I’ll recover too slowly, unable to contribute this season.”

”Moreover, my salary is a concern for many top clubs. I won’t accept a low salary, but offering me a high salary means other players in the team will demand a raise too, potentially causing locker room unrest.”

”But didn’t Izalelt also join Real Madrid on a high salary? There wasn’t any chaos,” He Gongliang said.

Lu Yang shook his head: ”The achievements I’ve made over the years reached their peak this year. In terms of career legacy, Izalelt isn’t as remarkable as I am.”

”But... in terms of strength and the aura that comes with it, Izalelt had a much larger presence when he joined Real Madrid compared to me now. So...”

Simply put, Lu Yang moved too quickly, and his honors and public perception haven’t caught up yet.

He has won the Champions League, yet some fans still see him as rough with the ball, defensively capable but offensively reliant on his speed, which is deemed average.

It’s not entirely the fans’ fault; it’s more on Lu Yang.

His rise has been too remarkable, continually challenging people’s understanding.

If you use a 2G network speed, you’ll quickly find yourself unable to keep up with Lu Yang’s pace.

It’ll likely take at least two years for his level of greatness to be recognized and discussed like that of a superstar.

In truth, Lu Yang is a bit like a young version of Robben.

Robben has been strong for many years and has only recently been promoted as the world’s top left-winger, earning widespread acclaim.

But in terms of raw strength, he could have competed for the Golden Ball Award and World Footballer of the Year five years ago.

Contrasting with Lu Yang and Robben are the Great British Imperial Stars.

Often, their abilities are not exceptional; they might play one excellent game or have one or two ordinary seasons, and yet they get hyped as superstars, future Golden Ball contenders, top five shooters, top three forwards, etc.

But in reality?

Their so-called highlights are merely the normal performance of many regular stars.

If you insist that their young achievements mean greatness in older age, that’s overly optimistic with a developing world view.

Evidence shows that among the two to three dozen hailed Great British Imperial Stars, only one might truly succeed.

”So who will Manchester United buy? Didn’t Sir Manchester say he likes you a lot?” He Gongliang, not knowing much, asked.

Lu Yang replied, ”He does appreciate me, but Manchester United can only have one king. If he’s there, I can’t go! If I go, he can’t stay! So they’ve found a player who resembles me in certain aspects.”

Before He Gongliang could ask who it was, another news alert popped up on his phone.

”New transfer bidding king emerges! Manchester United gambles forty-six million euros to bring Sporting Lisbon’s young player Chris Averro!”

”Golden Boy joins Dream Theater! Is the second strongest Champions League newcomer worth this much?”

”Go all in! Manchester United spends a total of one hundred million euros on transfers, withdrawing bitterly from the Lu Yang battle!”

”Lord: Lu Yang is still one of my most admired players; not buying him isn’t due to his injury but because I’m not ready for early retirement! Haha!”

”Averro: When asked about being seen as the second Lu Yang, I appreciate the praise. Lu Yang is my idol, and I’ll learn from him to bring more championships to Manchester United!”

”Manchester United executives: Another reason for buying Averro is we believe Lu Yang’s selling price will exceed fifty million, and our funds this window are limited, so the most comprehensive choice must be made!”

Oh dear!

There were even people who wanted to say Lu Yang truly has no takers.
