Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Xiaolan’s eyes sparkled. ”Hiss?”

’Really? Does that mean I can go out and travel now?’

”...” Han Lan remained expressionless.

A textbook case of filial disobedience.

The Fish Dragons and humans all burst into laughter, filling the Storm Strait with a cheerful air and dispelling all the earlier tension.

Han Lan bowed his head slightly to Ke Yan in apology.

[I apologize. I was the cause of this conflict. Please, state any demands you may have. I will do my best to compensate Pearl Harbor within my ability.]

”Not at all, not at all. It was a small matter.”

Ke Yan laughed heartily, a shrewd glint appearing in the rugged man’s eyes. ”As for demands... I wonder, Clan Leader, if you would be willing to accept a visit from our diplomatic envoy this time?”

[But of course.]

Han Lan nodded, a hint of emotion in his eyes.

[In recent years, the activity of those Abyssal scumbags has become more and more frequent. Even my own people have been harassed. Humans must be facing similar troubles.]

[When the nest is overturned, how can any egg remain unbroken? In the face of a crisis shared by all of Blue Star, no Race can stand alone. Only by uniting our destinies can we overcome these difficult times together.]

At this, Han Lan glanced gratefully at Su Zhi.

[To be honest, I have always held a prejudice against humans... I now retract my preconceived notions. Thank you for finding my young daughter.]

”Hahaha! You’re a straightforward one, Clan Leader!”

Ke Yan threw his head back and laughed, then slapped Su Zhi hard on the shoulder. ”You’ve performed a great service this time, kid!”

’Humanity can forge an alliance with another new Race. This adds another powerful weight to our side of the scales in the fight against the Abyssal.’

’They might say Su Zhi performed a great service, but how could I, Ke Yan, not be involved in this matter?’

’When this gets reported up the chain, won’t I, Ke Yan, also be one of the heroes who secured this diplomatic victory? A promotion, a medal, a commendation—it’s all but guaranteed.’

’I’ve seriously hit the jackpot this time!’

”Pfft! Thanks, Instructor...”

A violent shudder ran through Su Zhi, but he managed to keep his legs from buckling. In his excitement, Ke Yan had forgotten to reduce his power, and what landed on Su Zhi’s shoulder was the full-force slap of a Tier Six Master Beast Tamer...

Luckily, Su Zhi was at the pinnacle of his peers with a Tier Four Beast Taming Space. To take a blow from a Master Level Beast Tamer and remain standing... he truly deserved to be called terrifyingly talented.

’Even while holding Shan Bao in one hand, am I, Su Zhi, still invincible in this world?’

”Chirp?” Shan Bao tried to fly onto Su Zhi’s hand.

”That’s not necessary.” Su Zhi quickly pulled his hand back.

Han Lan watched Su Zhi and his Pet Beasts fooling around on the beach, his gaze softening unconsciously. [Are there any other requests? As long as it is within my power, I will do my best to fulfill them.]

Su Zhi remembered something and quickly looked toward Liu Yuhang and Xue Li. Immediately, everyone else present also turned to look at this Envoy’s Pet and her tamer.

”Hiss!” The Little Sea Serpent also got excited and pointed out Xue Li to Han Lan, explaining how she had met Xue Li and forgotten to go home because of it.

Han Lan: ”...”

’And you have the nerve to bring that up...’

”Clan Leader, this is my Pet Beast, Xue Li. I want to help her evolve, but we’ve failed twice in a row.”

Liu Yuhang stepped forward tentatively, holding Xue Li. Even submerged in the water, the Storm Fish Dragon, with a neck nearly ten meters tall, was incredibly imposing.

[Let me have a look.]

Han Lan cupped his chin and leaned in closer to examine Xue Li. After hearing Xiaolan’s description, he had also become interested in this Hao Waterfowl.

”Quack...”

Xue Li stood before the powerhouse with her feet together and her neck tucked in, too scared to move a muscle.

”Roar!”

Han Lan’s eyes lit up, and he blinked.

[This is indeed a rather special Hao Waterfowl. Human whelp, can you tell me in detail how you usually raise her?]

”Ah! Of course...” Liu Yuhang was a little overwhelmed by the attention.

Han Lan had asked for details, and so he gave them. He recounted Xue Li’s daily routine with extreme precision, not even leaving out how many times a day she went to the bathroom.

[It doesn’t need to be *that* detailed.]

Han Lan laughed, then looked at Liu Yuhang and nodded. [It’s more or less as I suspected. As a reward, I will help her evolve.]

Liu Yuhang’s eyes lit up. He quickly pressed his palms together and bowed. ”Thank you, Clan Leader!”

[Swallow this, and then follow me.]

Han Lan lightly tapped the water with a fin, and several translucent, pale blue orbs with the texture of gemstones immediately appeared on the surface.

Su Zhi looked at the one that flew into his hand and asked curiously, ”What is this?”

”Good stuff! A Tier Six Water Element resource, the Vast Sea Condensed Pearl!”

Ke Yan excitedly took one as well and swallowed it directly.

”After you take this, your body can adapt to deep-sea pressure and you’ll gain the ability to breathe underwater!”

”That powerful!”

Han Lan chuckled. [My palace is littered with them. They’re nothing rare. If you’re ready, let’s depart.]

”WHOOSH...”

A current of water swirled around, and a Water Belt formed around everyone’s waist.

As Han Lan plunged into the sea, Su Zhi felt a miraculous buoyancy from the Water Belt, carrying him into the water.

”This is Water-controlling Scale, a Water Element System Intermediate Commander Skill.”

During the descent, Shao Ya pumped her fist in excitement. ”Yes! I’ve gotten to see so many Commander Level Skills today!”

’The pearl really works. I can actually speak and breathe without any problem...’ Su Zhi felt the changes in his body. He looked at the two little ones splashing beside him, and a smile couldn’t help but touch his eyes.

”Chirp!” Shan Bao spread its wings.

’I’m a seabird now!’

”Woof-arf!” Yu Bao also wagged its tail, propelling itself like a propeller.

’Then I’m a seal!’

Xiaoyue watched her two childish little brothers with a mature expression, but her own gaze was drawn to a small fish swimming by, and she couldn’t resist swatting at it with her paw.

Missed... Try again. Again!

Before she knew it, the big kitty had turned into a little kid too. The white-haired girl beside her giggled, sending a stream of bubbles popping from her lips.

Xue Li, on the other hand, was the calmest of the bunch... After all, she was an aquatic Pet Beast to begin with, so the underwater world wasn’t entirely unfamiliar to her.

However, there was a difference between freshwater and the saltwater of the sea.

The deeper they dove, the more vast and boundless the sea before them became. Even the little duck, who usually stayed on land, felt a small sense of deep-sea awe.

After passing through a pitch-black deep-water zone, a faint light began to glow from below.

Colorful coral reefs covered the seabed. Deep Sea Exotic Beasts of all shapes and sizes passed by, curiously observing the outsiders. There were also underwater rock formations like mountain ranges, far taller than any ordinary peak on the surface.

Xue Li’s eyes couldn’t take it all in.

It was truly enormous—bigger than any body of water she had ever seen, even bigger than the Storm Strait... because this was the boundless ocean itself.

”Quack?”

’But the shock doesn’t seem to have lasted long... In fact, why does this feel so familiar?’

[Because Hao Waterfowl are the darlings of the sea, just like us of the Fish Dragon Race.]

Han Lan gave Xue Li a meaningful look.

[After human Beast Tamers form contracts with Hao Waterfowl, they establish a training method centered around the Core Skill in order to maximize the Hao Waterfowl’s superficial abilities. While this certainly raises the baseline for Hao Waterfowl, it also deviates from the laws of nature to a certain extent. I don’t know much about other Races, but I believe this is also related to the extinction of the Wave-Riding Duck.]

[Your Beast Tamer, however, is raising you in a different way.]

[Have you noticed? Everything you pursue can be summarized by a single essence—vastness. A Strong Attack as vast as the sea, devouring all; stamina as vast as the sea, standing unyielding; a fighting spirit as vast as the sea, never begging for surrender... These are the very core of all Ocean Exotic Beasts.]

[It is for this very reason that the deep-sea genes, long dormant in the Hao Waterfowl, have reawakened within you.]

”Quack...” Xue Li looked at Liu Yuhang, her eyes sparkling.

”Are we that amazing? I just thought we were good at enduring hardship...” Liu Yuhang scratched his head, a little embarrassed.

[Perhaps that is your good fortune,] Han Lan added meaningfully, stopping in front of a massive rock cavern. Glimmering ores dotted the cavern’s inner walls, shining with such brilliance that even the most luxurious building in Pearl Harbor would pale in comparison.

They had arrived at the Dragon Palace!

My fever is killing me... I thought it broke, but it came back... I wrote this Chapter yesterday when I was still relatively lucid. Currently trying to catch up on sleep...

Happy 520, everyone! Hope you’re not like me, spending it alone reading novels (doge).
