Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

An unknown amount of time passed. The raging sea gradually calmed, eventually falling back into a deep slumber.

[Assignable Attribute Points (Yu Bao): 1.24...1.28]

With the experience from last time, Yu Bao was much more adept at casting the Yellow Earth Wall. He even made further optimizations to the wall’s internal details.

This time, the wall successfully withstood the impact of the waves. Not a single crack appeared, and not one drop of water seeped through!

”You were right.”

A drenched Su Zhi flicked Yu Bao on the head with a deadpan expression. ”Next time, remember to block the sides, too.”

’Yu Bao did block the spray from the front, but he totally ignored the water from the sides. The outcome was exactly the same. And this is what I get for putting points into his Intelligence...’

Yu Bao gestured for him to look back.

Su Zhi turned and glanced behind him, where he saw a girl whose equally drenched clothes clung to her, outlining her perfect curves.

Su Zhi gave Yu Bao a thumbs-up.

”I have misjudged you, Your Excellency. You truly are the Great Sage Yu Bao!”

”Woof!” Yu Bao put on a pair of sunglasses and gave him a cool nod of affirmation.

However, when Su Zhi turned his head again, wanting to get a better look, all he saw was a white cowlick—the girl was crouched in front of him, poking his stomach with her finger, her lips smacking softly.

”Su Baby has abs, hey. The definition is pretty good~”

”!!!” Feeling the girl’s fingertips trail downward, Su Zhi’s face turned red, and he spun around and fled.

”You really are the Great Sage Yu Bao!” Shao Ya giggled, also giving Yu Bao a thumbs-up.

”Woof~” Yu Bao gave her a cool nod of affirmation as well.

”...” Xiaoyue lay nearby, watching them with a deadpan expression, his paws tucked under his body.

’You all have some serious issues.’

’No, I need to move further away. Who knows what other ideas Yu Bao might have for him now that he’s all wet... Damn it, this must have been the dumb mutt’s ultimate goal all along!’

Shan Bao, on the other hand, looked unhappy. Head down, she traced circles in the sand with her foot.

’She had clearly used a skill to face the tsunami, too, so why didn’t she get any points?’

Yu Bao came over and patted her on the head.

Su Zhi also comforted her from the side, ”You’re already a powerhouse with over three points in Constitution. A little wind and a few waves are nothing to you, so it’s normal that you didn’t get any points.”

”Chirp!” Shan Bao slapped her left wing against her right in a moment of sudden realization. The light returned to her eyes.

’She got it. Brother Yu Bao could still get points because he was weaker. But she was super brave, which is why she didn’t get any points!’

’Thinking about it from another angle really does wonders for your mood!’

Yu Bao’s smile froze. He felt something inside him shatter with a CRACK.

”Did Xue Li’s evolution succeed this time?”

Su Zhi asked, and everyone quickly turned their gazes toward the distant sea.

Liu Yuhang was the most anxious. Before the tide had even fully receded, he dashed off the beach and waded into the shallows until the water was waist-deep.

Because that was his closest Pet Beast.

”Xue Li! Xue Li!” Liu Yuhang shouted.

One or two faint quacks echoed back from the distance, lifting Liu Yuhang’s spirits. However, Xue Li’s cries didn’t seem to hold the joy and excitement he had expected.

Liu Yuhang already had a good idea of what had happened and stopped in the waist-deep water.

Xue Li’s figure slowly came into view. She was still just a little thing.

”Quack.”

”As long as you’re back.” Liu Yuhang smiled gently, cradled his Pet Beast in his arms, and returned to shore to join his classmates.

”How could this be...”

Katie was completely baffled. ”There was nothing wrong with either of Xue Li’s evolution attempts. Why didn’t they succeed?”

Liu Yuhang smiled in acceptance. ”Didn’t Brother Shu say it might be because Xue Li’s potential is higher? Right, Xue Li?”

”Quack!” Xue Li quickly nodded her head with all her might.

”Class Rep...” Su Zhi saw Liu Yuhang’s reaction and was momentarily at a loss for words. He knew that Liu Yuhang was more upset than anyone.

’But what exactly went wrong?’

’Luo Sen himself said that a Pet Beast’s evolution ritual is guaranteed to succeed within two attempts... Could Blue Star’s top research authority be wrong?’

As he pondered, the calm surface of the Storm Strait suddenly began to churn.

Liu Yuhang asked curiously, ”What’s going on? Isn’t Xue Li’s evolution ritual over?”

”It’s not her!”

The resident Beast Tamer stared intently at the dorsal fin protruding from the distant sea surface, his pupils abruptly widening. ”Storm Fish Dragon! Everyone, get back!”

”ROAR!”

The next moment, a massive, truck-sized head burst from the sea. Its long neck made it seem even taller and more imposing. Four fin-like claws slapped against the submerged sand as it came ashore, kicking up waves of spray.

”SWOOSH! SWOOSH!”

Sparks of electricity flashed. As three deep-blue Beast Taming Light Arrays lit up in succession, a swift, cyan shadow shot out. Waves of air slashed against the Storm Fish Dragon, instantly drawing blood.

At the same time, a Two-star Turbulent Duck and a Two-star Cyan Armor Spider charged out from the other two Light Arrays.

”KREEE!” The Thunderbolt War Falcon shrieked, circling the Storm Fish Dragon at high speed.

Sharp Wind Blades tore through the curtain of water, creating a spectacular display.

The Turbulent Duck simultaneously tried to suppress it with Towering Waves, while the Cyan Armor Spider, which specialized in close combat, found itself unable to engage. It could only provide support from a distance by shooting webs.

However, the Storm Fish Dragon was also a Race skilled at controlling the Wind. The Wind Blades’ damage wasn’t as severe as it looked. As for the Turbulent Duck’s Towering Waves, they were little more than small splashes in front of the beast.

The Cyan Armor Spider’s webs, at best, could restrain small flying insects a meter or two in size; they were completely useless against such a behemoth.

Instead, it was the Storm Fish Dragon that repeatedly kicked up massive waves, causing a lot of trouble for the three Pet Beasts, who were not skilled in defense.

The Thunderbolt War Falcon tried to counterattack with Electric Element Skills. The Effect was noticeably better, but still unsatisfactory. The Turbulent Duck and the Cyan Armor Spider were of little help, practically reduced to being part of the cheerleading squad.
