Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Seeing this scene, Wen Yu immediately realized he had found the real target. He sped up, and in no time, he flew to the edge of the mechanical device.

The strangely shaped guardians had no reaction to Wen Yu’s actions—this proved that they were still restricted by their inherent limitations as guardians, which was a good thing as it made Wen Yu’s forthcoming actions easier.

Beside the mechanical device, the guardians continued to patrol ceaselessly, but at a certain moment, a giant hand suddenly appeared next to the mechanical device. The next second, as the hand vanished, the mechanical device they had been guarding disappeared without a trace!

The special guardians around did not notice this at all, continuing their actions as if nothing had happened. While standing within the Void, Wen Yu looked at the mechanical device before him, his eyes immediately showing a gleam of excitement.

This is a tool, and only a tool can be grabbed into the Void by Wen Yu. And tools, except for certain life-like treasures, do not recognize a master.

Among life-like treasures, most are living-like tools. This mechanical device, by any means, cannot be counted as a living-like tool.

As Wen Yu’s right hand touched the mechanical device, a prompt sounded in his mind.

”Guardian Control Core (Species-specific Esoteric Level): A mechanical creation, the source and mother of all guardians. The Guardian Control Core can absorb metallic materials and autonomously create endless guardians. The function and capability of a single guardian depend on the materials. Additionally, this device can be programmed by others to control the actions of the guardians.”

A simple explanation.

Wen Yu explored the Guardian Control Core, and in no time, found the programming device on this machine— a fist-sized sphere.

The sphere was unremarkable, but when Wen Yu touched it, he naturally understood the programming principles—fully idiot-proof operation, only requiring input of general commands. The intelligent brain within the Guardian Control Core would automatically generate the program.

And now, it had only one program—to kill all intruders.

Wen Yu casually tried modifying the existing program of the Guardian Control Core, discovering it was indeed extremely simple to manipulate. It truly had no concept of recognizing a master, meaning whoever got the Guardian Control Core could control all the guardians outside.

On one hand, it held supreme authority—the value of those guardians outside needed no further explanation; obtaining them meant gaining countless super weapons capable of piercing through the body of a Level 11 powerful expert. However, on the other hand, it had significant drawbacks too.

Once someone else obtained the Guardian Control Core, these guardians could turn traitor at any moment, as machines do not possess the attribute of loyalty.

Wen Yu did not know who was so daring to just place the Guardian Control Core next to the Origin Pool like this, but now...

”These are all mine!”

...

Outside, the ”Five Finger Mountain” composed of guardians was still stacking. They were tireless and unceasing, and within the honeycomb where Bai was located, the small things were everywhere within a radius of several tens of thousands of meters centering around Bai.

The Faceless had already initiated Void Traversing, arriving by Bai’s side.

With the protection of the undying body, Bai’s safety was indeed not in much danger. However, the surrounding pressure continued to make Bai’s breathing difficult. The Faceless was in the Void beside Bai, closely observing Bai’s every move—even though Bai hadn’t made any movements.

Until at a certain moment, the guardians outside suddenly became agitated, and then the mountain began to collapse. These guardians uniformly turned their tips and swiftly flew towards the direction of the Origin Pool.

As the guardians decreased, the pressure on Bai gradually lightened until Bai was completely free, and only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.

”It should be resolved...”

Bai said this as the Faceless by his side took in Bai’s words verbatim—there was nothing strange about them.

The Faceless even thought that his boss seemed to be overthinking it. The Bai in front of him, no matter from which angle he was looked at, had no problems.

The two walked to the front of the honeycomb, looking at the Origin Pool ahead. The guardians that had just suppressed Bai quickly rushed towards a certain direction, linking up into a vast sea, until suddenly a figure appeared within the steel ocean.

It was Wen Yu.

At this moment, Wen Yu was holding the Guardian Control Core up steadily, with guardians swirling around him, then diving into the Guardian Control Core as if swallow chicks returning to the nest. Inside the Guardian Control Core, there seemed to be a massive Dimensional Space. No matter how many guardians it absorbed, it showed no change whatsoever.

The absorption speed was extremely fast. In less than ten minutes, by the time Wen Yu flew to Bai’s side, the guardians within the entire Origin Pool had disappeared completely.

”Success!”

Wen Yu greeted Bai with a cheerful smile, partly due to the joy of obtaining the treasure and partly from the Faceless’s report.

In the Faceless’s surveillance, everything about Bai appeared exceedingly natural.

And Bai also nodded towards Wen Yu, then he looked at the distant star-cloud-like vortex of the Origin Pool, his body gradually rising, flying directly towards the direction of the Origin Pool.

...

Wen Yu followed behind Bai, while the Faceless in the Void also flew to a distance, revealed himself, and then flew back. Wen Yu was about to say that Bai, relying on his own power, probably couldn’t reach the Origin Pool, but what happened next made Wen Yu swallow his words.

Upon reaching the arm’s end, Wen Yu and the Faceless continued using Void Traversing and supplemented Chaotic Power. Although advancing within the arm consumed a lot of energy, it wasn’t a strain. Bai, however, simply took out a scroll from the space ring.

He ripped the scroll open, and as the scroll took effect, a massive barrier instantly enveloped Bai. This barrier was filled with powerful Origin Energy, even containing some boundless will. Under the influence of this barrier, the surrounding turbulence of Origin Energy seemed to meet its nemesis and avoided it altogether. Wherever Bai went, the place became a Danger Ground devoid of Origin Energy turbulence.

Bai, shielded by the barrier, calmly crossed the arm’s turbulence, enough to make any Level 11 powerful expert scratch their head. Following behind Bai, though the consumption was quite large, Wen Yu was able to sustain it. As they continued, the duration was unknown.

Wen Yu replenished his food and water several times along the way, calculating roughly two days had passed. The group got closer and closer to the Origin Pool, until approximately the third day, the three finally stood on the outside of the Origin Pool.

Behind them were the endlessly rotating arms, and in front was a barrier formed by the spontaneous gathering of Origin Energy.

This barrier was like a balloon; the lower part was a lake formed by the gathering of Origin Energy, while the upper part, though lacking liquid, still had a concentration of Origin Energy far exceeding that of the arms.

”We’re here.”

Bai said.
