Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Retrieving Bai’s communication jade from the space ring once more, the surrounding energy currents still surged, affecting the positioning on the communication jade. However, Wen Yu had already reviewed Black River Sovereign’s memories, so there was no need to stay here any longer.

He summoned Faceless again and dripped his blood on it. Once Faceless was fully transformed into Wen Yu’s likeness, Wen Yu immediately activated the Heaven-covering Robe, while letting Faceless probe the path ahead, concealing himself at the rear.

The same old tactic, but this time Wen Yu followed just behind Faceless to deal with any possible attacks from the soul-type powerful expert.

Once they got out of the influence of the energy currents, the communication jade emitted its glow again. Bai’s position had not strayed much from before. Behind the scenes, Wen Yu guided Faceless in the right direction, and both of them swiftly headed straight to the location marked on the communication jade.

It wasn’t until a loud explosion sounded ahead that Wen Yu stopped in his tracks.

...

Amidst the billowing dust clouds ahead, Wen Yu vaguely saw two figures.

One was extremely familiar, the Puppet Immortal Emperor once summoned by Bai. At this moment, this Puppet Immortal Emperor was performing hand seals with one hand, chanting seamless incantations aloud. In the sky, sword lights appeared out of thin air and swiftly swept in all directions.

But at this moment, the Immortal Emperor’s actions seemed futile, as if his broad sword light strikes could not grasp his opponent’s figure.

Yes, he indeed had an opponent, but the Immortal Emperor could not see him, nor could Faceless. Even when Wen Yu activated his Soul Perception with full force, he could barely make out the colorful figure swirling around the Immortal Emperor.

Short stature, unclear visage, everything seemed extremely vague, but the constant sinister laughter of ”ji ji” and the large range of the fear aura unmistakably indicated this person’s presence.

Amidst the aura of fear, Wen Yu suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure as if facing a nemesis, cold sweat instantly poured from his pores.

This was just an illusion; Wen Yu knew it well, yet the body’s instincts defied personal will—in this aura of fear, Wen Yu felt his powers seemingly drop by several percentage points.

Strange abilities, exceptionally fast speed, all of it made Wen Yu hesitant to act recklessly.

He took out the communication jade from the space ring once again and initiated contact with Bai. At this close range, the communication jade finally responded this time.

”Wen Yu? Where are you? Come save me quickly!”

The first sentence was a plea for help, and from Bai’s urgent tone, Wen Yu could hear Bai’s despair and anxiety.

”I’m at the edge of the battlefield; I can see the Immortal Emperor and his opponent...”

Wen Yu gave Bai a reassurance pill.

”Whew, that’s good, quickly finish him off...”

To this, Wen Yu merely frowned, not because of Bai’s commanding tone, but because of the comparison of the strengths between the enemy and us.

Known Level 11 experts on the enemy side numbered four, while on our side, only the Puppet Immortal Emperor, Faceless and Wen Yu could mix into such a level of combat, the disparity in numbers was too large. Moreover, the soul-type expert inherently restrained Faceless, making Wen Yu see little hope for victory in this battle.

After a moment of silence, Wen Yu made a decision in his heart.

”Southeast direction, coordinates XXX, XXX, this could be the entrance to the next layer. You take Ye Nan and leave first. I will let Luo Luo protect you. You go to the next layer first, and after I deal with this side, I’ll catch up to meet you.”

Wen Yu would hold back the enemy, allowing Bai to leave first, and after Bai left, Wen Yu would shake off the enemy to find Bai—this was a rearguard action, a form of strategic retreat, Wen Yu indeed did not want to fatigue this battle against the four Level 11 experts.

Bai hesitated after hearing Wen Yu’s words but eventually agreed.

...

Once within the sensing range, two auras emerged from the ground, quickly running in another direction. Not only did Wen Yu sense Bai’s actions, but the unknown enemy in mid-air noticed that Bai was about to leave, his figure appeared suddenly in mid-air, his eyes watching the two small fleeing insects at the horizon, meanwhile, the Immortal Emperor’s attacks continued, myriad sword shadows slashing down on this person, reverberating with nothing more than ”ding ding dang dang” sounds.

Not even tearing his clothes...

For a long time, a twisted smile emerged on the clown’s face. He no longer regarded the desperately fleeing Bai but instead turned his head to look in another direction.

There, beside Wen Yu, purple light flickered, and then, a round and plump Ants fell from mid-air, quickly chasing after the direction Bai escaped.

The clown paid no attention to the fleeing Bai and Luo Luo; he was fixated on Wen Yu, his oversized mouth opening and closing uncoordinatedly as he spoke.

”Are you the last target? The little guy who can fight Level 11 at Level 7?”

The tone was peculiar, as if singing, but the abrupt fear that arose made Wen Yu frown deeply—Wen Yu had never directly faced these enemies, yet this first meeting already gave Wen Yu a bad premonition.

The demon before him, not quite 1.5 meters tall, his face painted with clown-like grease paint, clothing in a riot of colors, held two slender sleeve swords in his hand, their blades emitting a fierce chill. At this moment, this clown floated in mid-air, and behind him the Immortal Emperor’s attack continued, yet the sword shadows slashing at the clown’s body bounced off completely ineffectively.

Outstanding defense, extremely fast speed...

Just two pieces of information already demonstrated the demon’s trickiness.

”Kill him!”

Wen Yu concisely ordered Faceless, and simultaneously, the Dream Come True skill group was activated by both Faceless and Wen Yu!

Before the rest of the enemies arrived, taking down one arm was undoubtedly the best choice!

However, in face of the attack intent from Wen Yu and Faceless, the clown merely opened his big mouth, releasing a peculiar-toned laugh. In the next second, the clown’s body jerked as if having a seizure.

One shadow after another surged from the convulsing clown’s body, and then these shadows detached, simulating countless clown figures in mid-air.

”Hehehe, let’s play a game. Guess which one is me?”

A bell-like voice boomed out from each clown’s mouth, the sound waves created ripples, rapidly spreading in all directions. Wen Yu’s full-powered Soul Perception shattered in face of this clown’s bizarre ability!

”Can’t tell, can’t find...”

This was the current situation’s true portrayal—in front of this ability, Wen Yu couldn’t distinguish which was the real clown!
