Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

A burst of Divine Light blasted the entire Demon Palace Security Bureau’s camp into the sky. The whole process was simple, swift, and left the enemy no room for retaliation.

Wen Yu even wondered why the camp set up by the Demon Palace Security Bureau lacked any defensive power. But then, thinking about how he had just slain a Level 11 Soul-Type Demon Clan member, and recalling the frantic escape of the human model and the black cloth monster, he became relieved.

Those two guys really ran pretty fast.

Wen Yu, with Bai in tow, directly plunged into the interdimensional passage leading to the lower level. With a flash of light, their figures instantly disappeared.

And just less than an hour after Wen Yu left, in the distance, over a dozen figures suddenly appeared. In just a moment, they flew over to the original location of the temporary camp.

These figures floated in mid-air without support, eight of whom exuded a mysterious power from head to toe — the blessing of Origin Energy, undoubtedly Level 11 powerful experts. The human model, the black cloth monster, and the clown stood among them, albeit at a relatively backward position.

At the forefront stood a tall Ancient Demon.

This Ancient Demon scanned the ground with sharp eyes. Before him lay the temporary camp that had been blasted to fragments, and the ground underneath, baked into crystalline form by the heat of Divine Light. Even now, the Ancient Demon could still feel the heat waves rising from the ground.

”Was Ross killed by this guy?”

As the Ancient Demon inquired, the black cloth monster stepped forward and nodded in affirmation.

After asking this question, the Ancient Demon pondered for a while, feeling helpless inside...

An opponent capable of taking down Ross was indeed one the Ancient Demon was reluctant to meet.

Since the last invasion incident, the powerful experts of the Demon Palace dwindled, while newcomers emerged, and Ross was undoubtedly the most outstanding among them!

Though his rise was only within a short century, the power of the Soul Skill System and the famed ultimate weapon — Soul Balance Scale, made Ross rank third or fourth in terms of combat power within the Demon Palace Security Bureau... He had few equals, and even the Ancient Demon himself could at best only claim to be on par with Ross.

In other words, if the enemy could kill Ross, they could also kill him...

However, after Ross’s failure this time, the top experts of the Demon Palace Security Bureau, only the Ancient Demon had no assignment and was closest to the location. Under the black cloth monster’s plea for help and the pressure from the Security Bureau chief, the Ancient Demon had no choice but to take this mission.

He was reluctant to come into contact with Wen Yu... which is why this contemplation felt exceptionally long.

It wasn’t until a few of the Level 11 experts behind him exchanged puzzled glances, not understanding what their leader was thinking, that the Ancient Demon finally spoke again.

”Pursue!”

A single word uttered powerfully, yet as to what really would happen, only heaven knew.

...

The word ”pursue” was simply said, but in practice, it was indeed not easy.

Wen Yu’s speed wasn’t slow, or perhaps, Wen Yu’s speed was faster than the Ancient Demon’s party by quite a bit. Moreover, since they couldn’t pinpoint Wen Yu’s coordinates, this so-called pursuit generally seemed like the Ancient Demon’s group was wandering blindly, searching for Wen Yu with a method akin to a carpet search — they dared not split up due to Ross’s fate.

Yet, the more troublesome part was that the Demon Palace’s 912th underground level was unlike the 911th, which had gone through major battles — most of the teleportation passages here remained intact, complicating the Demon Palace Security Bureau’s pursuit further — they weren’t even sure if Wen Yu was still on this level!

Until a Demon Fiend at the very back made a sound.

”Sir, I don’t think this method of searching is effective...”

”Oh? Then what do you suggest?”

”If the enemy’s target is the Origin Pool, why don’t we set up an ambush a few levels ahead of the Origin Pool? This way...”

Before he finished speaking, the Ancient Demon impatiently waved his hand.

”Not feasible. The Origin Pool is a forbidden area. We do not have the authority to enter it!”

”Sir, we don’t need to enter the Origin Pool...”

”Enough!”

The Ancient Demon spoke with ill-intent, glaring at the speaking Demon Fiend — a little fellow it seemed was called Tyros...

Mad, why don’t you just keep quiet...

The Ancient Demon’s attitude towards this task was clear, and regrettably, the other seven Level 11 experts remained silent, seemingly agreeing with the Ancient Demon’s search method. This made Tyros feel deeply helpless.

The stronger one becomes, the more they cherish their life. Tyros wanted to capture the intruder and uphold the prestige of the Demon Palace Security Bureau, yet without the power to back it, all his thoughts turned into mere illusions.

Originally, Tyros thought this time Director Agou was doomed, but who would have thought that with just the loss of one Level 11 expert, everything shifted.

Ross’s death cast a psychological shadow over the Demon Palace Security Bureau’s powerful experts.

Yet, how could Ross’s power fail to impact Wen Yu as well?

After arriving at the -912th level, Wen Yu recalled the map of this level. With a simple judgment of direction, he immediately flew off with Bai and Ye Nan.

There were 29 passages to the lower level, and although the number of abandoned ones was unknown, it was certainly better than the previous level, which had only one usable passage. Besides, Wen Yu felt that his luck was good today, so at this moment, he was full of confidence in evading the pursuit.

Yes, it was about evading pursuit.

After the battle with Ross, combined with the influence of Black River Sovereign’s memories, all of this made Wen Yu extremely wary of the Demon Palace Security Bureau!

The power of the Demon Palace Security Bureau was strong, coupled with fighting on their home turf, Wen Yu had no chance of forcefully resisting. With the loss of a Level 11 soul-type powerful expert, Wen Yu even felt that if the Demon Palace made another move, it might be akin to the previous treatment of the Black River Sovereign.

However, he was not as powerful as the Black River Sovereign. At this moment, Wen Yu only felt time was pressing, as if a fierce tiger was opening its bloody maw at his back!

The map of the Demon Palace’s -912th level was in Wen Yu’s mind. He quickly reached the first marked entrance and hid his presence along the way, without being discovered by any Demon Tribe members.

Fortunately, this passage remained intact. Wen Yu took a step forward and was transported to the -913th level of the Demon Palace.

The whole process took less than five minutes, and the journey continued.

It was not until Wen Yu and Bai dashed to the -965th level that Wen Yu finally slowed his pace. He looked back toward the direction he came from, caught in a mystery.

It had been three hours since he took down Ross, and along the way, there was no ambush from the Security Bureau, nor had he encountered many Demon Fiends...

Wen Yu couldn’t understand why the pursuers hadn’t appeared until now.

Meanwhile, the pursuit team led by the Ancient Demon was looking at the entrance leading to the -913th level, once again delving into lengthy contemplation...
