Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

That’s right, just one spot.

The memory is slowed down here by Wen Yu.

All along, Wen Yu has been puzzled—Level 11 powerful experts of the Demon Tribe seemed to be excessively numerous to Wen Yu; hundreds in the Demon Realm, and at least an equal number within the Demon Palace. This kind of phenomenon is simply impossible in ordinary worlds.

What Wen Yu can be sure of is that these Level 11 powerful experts of the Demon Tribe definitely did not ascend through normal channels. Wen Yu once asked Leoja about this issue, but Leoja only provided vague answers...

Wen Yu speculates that Leoja must be a ”traitor” from some other world.

Memory slowed by Wen Yu, after obtaining a spot for promotion to Level 11 expert, Black River Sovereign and nine other strong peers, led by the old chief, arrived at a secret place within the Demon Clan Army.

This was an open-air altar, engraved with weird patterns. Here, Black River Sovereign saw the figure of the Demon Spirit once again. Or rather, this ”event” held significant meaning, as all seven leaders of the Demon Clan Army were present, while the Demon Spirit simply stood behind them, still appearing so silent.

Wen Yu’s gaze was fixed on the Demon Spirit, but Black River Sovereign didn’t know the Demon Spirit was up to something. He just walked up to the altar under the old chief’s arrangement. As the seven leaders each took a crystal stone filled with Origin Energy from their spatial tools and threw it on the altar, light began to flow.

”Hold your breath, focus, and absorb the energy within!”

The old chief spoke timely, and Black River Sovereign naturally complied.

In the memory’s scene, Black River Sovereign appeared very wretched, seemingly enduring great pain. The nine peers around him were similarly suffering. Moments later, as the light grew stronger, one Soot Skin Demon Fiend abruptly let out a tragic scream, and then its body quickly melted away like snow under the scorching sun!

This scene instantly unsettled everyone’s spirit. In just a moment of distraction, three others disappeared without a trace.

”These are just necessary sacrifices. Ten people, one survives, completing the transformation!”

Standing centrally among the seven leaders, the Ancient Demon watched everything unfold without expression. This Ancient Demon was someone Wen Yu was very familiar with—Philip, Legas’ godfather, the most powerful leader of the Demon Clan Army!

Legas didn’t show up here; it seemed he hadn’t reached this position yet.

Black River Sovereign reacted quickly. He held his breath swiftly, and while enduring great pain, continuously absorbed the Origin Energy emitted from the altar. The other Soot Skin Demon Fiends did not fall behind either. After all, the Demon Tribe who made it to this point were not easy to deal with.

From Black River Sovereign’s memories, Wen Yu could even feel that terrifying, soul-tearing pain as if floating on a drifting boat above the ocean. Black River Sovereign didn’t know the end of this pain, until the surrounding scatter of Origin Energy completely vanished, only then did Black River Sovereign collapse to the ground.

Looking back, only he remained among the ten.

”Not bad aptitude.”

Philip made a bland assessment, then his figure disappeared, and the remaining few quickly left the place, leaving only the old chief to walk over to Black River Sovereign with a relieved expression and help him up.

”The future will belong to you!”

He said so.

...

Black River Sovereign, of course, did not know whether the future would belong to him. The soul-tearing pain from the promotion still lingered in his body, Black River Sovereign felt he couldn’t muster a bit of strength.

But through the old chief’s explanation, Black River Sovereign understood this was a normal phenomenon, which would fade within a few years, and a few years is really too brief for Level 11 experts.

At the same time, the old chief also revealed the principle of the promotion ceremony to Black River Sovereign.

Those Origin Energies were all plundered, belonging to other worlds’ Origin Energy in essence. Originally, Demon Realm creatures could only ascend to Level 11 experts by absorbing the Demon Realm’s Origin Energy, which was the normal promotion channel under the professionist system. However, after the cataclysm (probably the end-of-time battle between the two kings), the will of the Demon Realm vanished, cutting off the Level 11 promotion path. Through research, the Demon Lord developed this altar-like thing, rumored to be based on and made with the Celestial Gift Stone.

The Demon Tribe plunders other worlds’ Origin Energy, most of which are filled into the bottomless pit that is the Demon Realm. However, a small part is intercepted by Level 11 experts to strengthen themselves. After the regular promotion channels were severed, the Demon Clan Army’s seven-person council conceived this mass production method of Level 11 experts.

Simple, but the efficiency can’t really be called high—because the Origin Energy is limited, from one world, they can at most produce one to three Level 11 Demon Tribe members, plus battle damage factors and others, the number of Level 11 experts in the Demon Clan Army remains stable at about a hundred.

Black River Sovereign does not understand more specific principles, nor does he wish to, because the persistent pain drives him to the brink of life and death.

Scene fast forwards...

...

A few years later, Black River Sovereign successfully passed the post-promotion reaction period and naturally became a Level 11 Demon Tribe expert. At the same time, he was the second Level 11 powerful expert from the Soot Skin Demon Fiend tribe—they were known for their strong reproductive ability but really had no advantage in high-end experts.

Understandably, Black River Sovereign began participating in major meetings of the Demon Tribe Army, assisting the old chief in handling various affairs, just like a loyal little sidekick.

However, ambition is boundless—at the beginning, Black River Sovereign did not grasp his ambition, but during a certain unexpected occurrence, ambition began to sprout and grow...

That originated from a conversation with the Demon Spirit...

In the memory’s scene, the Demon Spirit remained concealed, yet the words spoken were resonant!

”Do you desire power? Do you want everything? Do you wish to...”

It was normal temptation; this allure was neither big nor small. But from the determination of a Level 11 expert, this should change nothing. Yet, Black River Sovereign was moved. He didn’t detect anything abnormal, yet Wen Yu, flipping through memories, perceived that soul power of absolute strength!

The power was vast as an ocean, both in quality and quantity far overwhelming Wen Yu himself, and the Demon Spirit’s application of soul power was exceptional, unconsciously influencing Black River Sovereign’s mindset.

And then everything changed.

Black River Sovereign suddenly felt displeased with everything he saw, especially the old chief... an emotion called jealousy naturally arose, and Black River Sovereign didn’t think there was anything wrong with this!

Until the Demon Tribe once again initiated invasion warfare... with the target, Universe of Immortals and Heroes!
