Chapter 260: Chapter 242: Trouble at the Burrow Frontline, Ghostly Demoness

Judging from the previous spawn rate of Gargoyles, as a Commander-level monster, the total number of Banshees is probably only a fifth of that of Gargoyles.

The spawn rate of Gargoyles is 5%, meaning out of every 100 burrow monsters, there are 5 Gargoyles.

So the spawn rate of Banshees is likely 1%, with one appearing out of every 100 burrow monsters.

Estimating from the frequency of five spawning every three minutes, approximately one hour, which is 20 waves of burrow monsters, will refresh one Banshee.

Of course, this is speculation based on the spawn rate of Gargoyles, and it might not be accurate.

If this speculation is correct, then within at most half an hour, another Banshee could appear.

Zong Shen decided to wait at the frontline to check the attributes and true strength of the Earth Cavern Demon before deciding how to address this issue.

Meanwhile, he opened the [Friends Channel] and [Legion Channel] to briefly explain the spawning of Banshees in the burrow and remind them to be on guard.

Then, he walked towards the grass hut where Rudnev was resting, planning to visit the wounded.

Rudnev was resting in another grass hut, being taken care of by a Water Mage from the combat squad.

The Mad Axe Warrior’s defense was not high, and he was not wearing armor, with much of his body exposed.

Thus, one could see that his body was covered in scars, mostly piercing injuries from arrows but also injuries from long spears. These guys really did not hold back!

However, these injuries were mostly on the shoulders, back, and even the hips.

As Wenresa said, indeed there were no fatal injuries or disabilities left behind.

But there was definitely no lack of suffering from flesh wounds.

When Rudnev saw Zong Shen arrive, he showed a surprised expression.

He struggled to get up to salute, although Rudnev had not fought side by side with Zong Shen yet.

But he had heard the warriors of the exploration team talk about Zong Shen’s strength.

Especially Zong Shen’s brave deeds of transforming into a demon and overpowering the Spider Web Monster Lord Leopold in the mine.

This made Rudnev very admiring; warriors chatted amongst themselves, and there was gossip.

Zong Shen’s formidable combat power had already spread to every warrior’s ears.

Especially his demon transformation, being able to harness demon power while maintaining a pure soul and mind, made him an extraordinary presence in the hearts of these indigenous warriors!

After the newbie stage ended and the rules changed, these soldiers became quite pitiful.

Previously, even losing 50% of Life Value, or even 90%, leaving that 1% would not put them in a weakened state, unlike now, where injuries were just real injuries.

Even with the best healing potions, it still took time to recover from injuries.

In an unhealed state, it would more or less affect combat effectiveness.

Zong Shen looked at Rudnev, quickly waved his hand to let him lie down, and reached out his right hand to shake hands firmly, comforting him, and bestowed two [Soldier Enhancement Pearls (Green)].

After a series of actions, Rudnev was very moved, and any grievances he had disappeared, along with his loyalty improving by over ten points. After all, no one knew who the Banshee would possess.

Ultimately one could only say Rudnev was unlucky, and everyone’s attack on him was actually saving him, otherwise after five minutes he would have been completely done for.

After some comforting, Zong Shen left the grass hut, calculated the time, and estimated that in fifteen or sixteen minutes, it should be time to refresh the Banshee, so he needed to get ready.

He took out the goblin merchant Boswell’s [Exorcised Satin Boots (Blue)] and handed them to Wenresa, instructing her to put half a foot into the boot at a critical moment and use exorcism magic to counter the Banshee’s possession effect.

At this time, Favide and others were assisting the frontline, killing the monsters that spawned in the burrow every three minutes.

Since switching staff, Favide’s enthusiasm for battle had grown higher and higher.

The Hellhound was brought along by him, just like a pet, following closely behind him.

In this rainy weather, his fire magic was severely weakened, with the fist-sized fireball getting sizzled by raindrops as it was launched.

By the time the fireball reached the monsters, it was already only half its original size.

Nonetheless, Favide still enjoyed it, pleased even if he could kill just one more monster.

The [Theseus’ Slaying Staff] certainly had a unique allure, capable of instilling a gradual love for slaughter without expending a single soldier.

But at least for now, Favide’s change seemed to be more of a benefit than a harm, and Zong Shen needed the battle enthusiasm of Favide to increase the team’s combat strength.

Zong Shen would keep an eye on Favide’s condition; logically, the [Theseus’ Slaying Staff]shouldn’t have any issues because the system’s evaluation at the time didn’t indicate any special problems.

Thinking of this, Zong Shen decided to play it safe and inquire further about the strategy.

”Does the [Theseus’ Slaying Staff] have any problems?”

”Has Favide been influenced?”

(Theseus is a renowned Child of Slaughter, a madman expelled by the Mage Association, and his staff can extract power from slaughter. Slaughter points are the embodiment of slaughter power, and using this power can earn the allegiance of hell creatures. The staff itself has no problem, and Favide’s change is not caused by slaughter but by greed for power.)

Zong Shen nodded, dispersing the advice with a thought.

The guidance was much like his own speculation; indeed, greed for power can change a person.

Even Zong Shen couldn’t completely avoid it, but because he looked at things from a different perspective, his understanding of himself was clearer.

A dozen minutes passed quickly.

Zong Shen recalled all the exploration squad’s warriors and had all the frontline combat squad’s warriors retreat, waiting for this wave to end before advancing.

Soon, the burrow entrance began to flicker with red light, just as Zong Shen had previously speculated.

The spawn rate of Commander-level monsters is indeed only 1%.

Zong Shen drew out the Dragon-Slaying Heavy Sword, unusually serious.

A flash of red light! Several figures appeared outside the entrance.

Besides the most common zombies, there was also a figure in a semi-transparent pale blue state, floating slowly.

Its face was ferocious, with long hair spreading out like spikes around the back of the head, standing upright.

Its whole body was in a pale blue semi-transparent state, and from its facial features, it seemed to be a woman, though expressionless, it was somehow eerily unsettling.

”Sir... it’s here!”

Wenresa raised the [Horned Eagle Battle Bow], drew a sharp arrow, and prepared herself!

Zong Shen took a slight step back, squinting his eyes as he looked ahead.

A line of attributes appeared.

[Ghostly Demoness lv20 (Purple)]

[Purple Commander Level]

[Race: Undead Race]

[Magic Damage: 96~99]

[Life Value: 1000]

[Armor Value: 0]

[Magic Resistance: Magic Immunity]

[Skills: Wail lv20 (Ghostly Demoness releases a wail, dealing 1.0 times magic damage to two random targets within a hundred meters, cooldown 1 minute)

Possession lv10 (When this skill is used, it first renders the target unit unable to move for 5 seconds, during which the demon and the target cannot move and take 225% damage. If the demon remains after 5 seconds, it vanishes while possessing the unit. If the possessed unit’s health drops by more than 50%, the demon will be forcibly expelled. If the demon remains for 5 minutes, it will take complete control of the body. This skill can only be used once and, upon a successful possession, the demon’s characteristics and skills disappear.)

Chaos Curse lv10 (Curses an enemy unit, giving it a 33% chance to miss attacks, lasting 30 seconds, cooldown 30 minutes)

Passive Skills: Ghost (Reduces physical attack by 50%)

Anti-element Shell (Ghost repels elements, immune to magic damage)]

(The Banshee capable of possessing others is not afraid of elemental magic but can be affected by exorcism magic and essence magic. The 5 seconds during possession is the best time to defeat it.)
