I Return From Hell

Chapter 135: Chapter 128: The Biggest Boss

”ROAR.”

The heavily injured wild boar launched another desperate charge, like a warrior who knew no fear of death.

Its speed kept increasing.

Combined with its astonishing weight.

If it actually hit her, even Xia Yu would be severely injured.

”SWISH.”

Xia Yu flicked her wrist.

Three Yinfeng oral organs shot out.

Two of them sank into the boar’s eyes and disappeared, while the third pierced the boar’s skull, burying itself deep inside.

Immediately, the boar’s front legs gave out. It smashed its head into the ground, sliding and tumbling forward for several meters before coming to a stop.

Dead.

Ever since she acquired the Yinfeng oral organs, Xia Yu rarely used her Blood Butterfly as a Hidden Weapon anymore. Because... if the Blood Butterfly left her hand just as danger appeared, what would she do then?

She didn’t continue to deal with the Mutated Beasts on the shore. First, she had to rescue Little Nannan and Little Ai!

To prevent any attacks from underwater Mutated Beasts, she even found a small boat to go get Little Nannan and Little Ai herself, guarding against any unexpected incidents along the way.

However, sometimes, the very thing you fear most is what ends up happening.

The crooked-neck tree that Little Nannan was leaning against twitched.

”!!!”

Xia Yu noticed it instantly, and her expression changed drastically.

”WHOOSH.”

A gust of wind blew from the direction of the pond.

’Was it the wind?’

No!

’It’s a Mutated Plant!’

Xia Yu quickly came to this conclusion for three reasons:

First, there were no other trees around this crooked-neck tree. It didn’t have to compete for sunlight, water, or soil nutrients, which was also why it had grown crooked in the first place.

A plant that grew in such a non-competitive environment from a young age was extremely susceptible to becoming a Mutated Plant.

Second, dozens of minutes had passed since the Mist Event began, which was more than enough time for a plant to transform into a Mutated Plant.

Third, she remembered clearly that Mutated Plants had appeared during this Mist Event, and they were later bombed to death by the authorities.

But so far, she hadn’t seen a single Mutated Plant!

”Run,”

Xia Yu mouthed silently, simultaneously making a hand gesture.

Little Nannan’s attention had been fixed on the older woman, so she naturally saw this. At first, she was confused, but then she realized the woman wouldn’t do something for no reason. Something was wrong!

With that in mind, she looked again at the woman’s mouthed word and hand gesture.

She understood instantly!

”WHOOSH.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, she unleashed an astonishing burst of speed, covering several meters in an instant before continuing to sprint away.

Huh?

This sudden action startled Little Ai and Snake Man.

Snake Man was more shrewd and reacted faster, immediately bolting in the same direction Little Nannan was running.

Little Ai, however, froze for a second.

The next instant.

”WHOOSH.”

...

She saw several of the crooked-neck tree’s branches, as nimble as human arms, ’grabbing’ for her!

”Ah!”

Thinking the danger had passed and having completely relaxed, she was so frightened her heart skipped a beat.

Unfortunately, she had no time to escape and could only subconsciously activate that strange Power from before.

”SWISH.”

...

Instantly, nine Ice Arrows shot out in a volley.

They struck several branches.

One remaining branch was already upon her, piercing straight through her thigh and anchoring itself in the ground.

”Ah!”

Little Ai screamed in pain.

The next moment, the branch didn’t pull out. Instead, it coiled around her thigh. Little Ai felt a massive force tugging at her leg, causing her to stumble. She was being...

Yanked off the ground!

”No!”

”Help me!”

”Save him!”

Little Ai was panicked and frantic, her words illogical, but her first instinct was to toss aside the baby boy in her arms. ”Save him!”

Unfortunately, it was too late.

”WHOOSH.”

One of the branches that had been knocked aside by an Ice Arrow moved even faster, wrapping around the baby boy and snatching him from the ground.

”BANG!”

Little Nannan didn’t have Xia Yu’s skills; she could only rely on the gun in her hand, firing wildly.

The branches were too thin and constantly moving, making them difficult to hit.

However, the branches holding Little Ai and the baby boy were moving slowly. The one holding Little Ai was especially slow, moving at the speed of a three-year-old child, which gave her a chance to aim.

”BANG.”

”BANG.”

...

After several consecutive shots,

CRACK.

A branch snapped.

Little Ai fell to the ground.

But the baby boy had already been carried high into the air, his loud wails echoing across the sky.

”Save...”

Little Ai was dazed from the fall, but upon hearing the cries, she still managed to speak, wanting to save the baby boy.

’Out of bullets!’

Little Nannan pulled the trigger again, but there was no gunshot. She threw the gun to the ground and drew the pistol from her waist.

”WHOOSH.”

”PFFT.”

A thin branch shot out from underwater, instantly piercing Little Nannan’s hand.

”Ah.”

Little Nannan cried out in pain as the pistol fell to the ground. The branch then wrapped around her hand, trying to yank her into the air just as it had with Little Ai.

She stumbled and fell, unable to react in time. The pain in her hand was especially unbearable, making it impossible to focus and think clearly.

Just as she was about to be lifted off the ground, for some unknown reason, the branch’s strength suddenly dropped by a large margin, and its speed slowed considerably.

This gave Little Nannan an opportunity. Her other hand reached for the military dagger on her outer thigh and slashed viciously.

The thin branch snapped.

Little Nannan broke free. Without taking the time to pull out the broken piece of branch left in her palm, she turned and ran without hesitation.

’If I don’t run now,’

’I won’t make it out alive!’

”Run!”

Her expression hardened as she reached for the grenade hanging at her waist. But when she saw the baby boy had already been pulled to the tree trunk, she couldn’t bring herself to use it.

She could only grab Little Ai, who was trying to get up to save the baby, and dive into the water.

”SPLASH.”

...

Everyone plunged into the water.

However, what they never could have imagined was that the Mutated Plant’s methods were far from over!

Underwater.

There were hundreds, even thousands of Roots, writhing like claws and fangs, forming a giant net that ensnared them all, leaving no one to escape!

”GLUG GLUG GLUG.”

”GLUG GLUG GLUG.”

...

Underwater, Snake Man, Little Nannan, and Little Ai were terrified. They instinctively tried to scream, only to have their mouths flood with water the moment they opened them.

Little Nannan desperately swung her dagger to fight back.

But it was useless.

There were too many Roots!

Her arms, legs, waist, neck... her entire body was bound.

Soon, she couldn’t move at all.

She was dragged deep into the water.

’Am I going to die?’

’No.’

’The older woman will definitely save me!’

’She has to!’

Above the water’s surface, Xia Yu was still quite a distance from the crooked-neck tree. The moment she saw Little Nannan and the other two jump into the water, she guessed they would be targeted by the Roots.

So, she unhesitatingly reached for the grenades at her waist.

Two of them!

One in each hand, she threw them.

First, the baby’s cries came to an abrupt stop.

Then, two explosions thundered out...
