I Return From Hell

Chapter 108: Chapter 101: A Fourth Party Joins

Gunshots rang out.

It threw the situation inside the Mist Event into even greater chaos.

However, the survivors inside the hotel showed expressions of joy upon hearing the gunfire. A single thought surfaced in their minds: Someone has a gun!

A second thought immediately followed: They have to kill all these monsters!

And then...

They shrank back, hiding themselves more securely, hoping to survive until the battle was over.

「Twenty minutes later.」

The gunfire on the third floor ceased.

”Phew.”

Xia Yu let out a sigh of relief.

This swarm of Yinfeng obviously knew she was a major threat, so over twenty of them had come in to attack her one after another.

Otherwise, this battle would have been over long ago.

After collecting all their oral organs, she had Little Flower slowly absorb the Yin Qi while she went to the window.

She looked at the situation outside the hotel.

Then, her brow suddenly furrowed.

Only thirty-some Mutants were left!

They were on the verge of being wiped out!

”The Yinfeng are too effective against the Mutants.”

Xia Yu had killed a total of 35 Yinfeng, and only 8 still survived. But what was the outcome?

If it weren’t for the sheer number of Mutants, they would have been completely wiped out by now!

「The next moment.」

Little Flower conveyed a sense of confusion.

Xia Yu turned her head and saw Little Flower chasing after the Yin Qi to absorb it.

’The Yin Qi is gathering in one direction?’

Watching Little Flower’s trajectory, her heart skipped a beat with a sense of foreboding.

She immediately swapped the submachine gun in her left hand for the Blood Butterfly.

Compared to firearms...

She trusted the Blood Butterfly more!

Her gaze followed Little Flower’s movements as the seconds ticked by.

「At that moment.」

Xia Yu’s pupils constricted slightly.

Following Little Flower’s path, she realized the final destination of the flowing Yin Qi was the very coffin Nai’er had brought.

’What’s in there?’

’Nai’er’s husband!’

’A dead man!’

’Dead body plus Yin Qi equals...?’

’If it absorbs all the Yin Qi from the Yinfeng that were just killed, then...’

”Come back!”

She immediately gave Little Flower the command.

WHOOSH.

Little Flower returned reluctantly but obediently, and Xia Yu immediately put it back into the Jade Box without hesitation.

’A second later and it would have been too late!’

「The next instant.」

CRACK.

The coffin lid moved.

Xia Yu’s eyelid twitched. She put away her other submachine gun and prepared for battle.

”ROAR.” ℯℯ𝘭.

”BUZZ.”

...

Outside the coffin, the battle between the Mutants and the Yinfeng was still raging.

Without Xia Yu’s help, the number of Mutants had dwindled drastically to just over a dozen. The battle’s outcome was no longer in doubt; it was nearing its end.

Unless something unexpected happened.

BANG.

At that moment, a Mutant’s head was pierced, and it crashed against the coffin.

Dead.

Just as the Yinfeng was about to beat its wings and fly off to kill another Mutant...

WHOOSH.

A pale hand shot out from inside the coffin, snatching the Yinfeng and dragging it inside with lightning speed.

”!!!”

Xia Yu’s expression changed. She reached for the Crystal Cores in her pocket, her posture that of someone facing a formidable enemy. ’So fast!’

Something was wrong.

She didn’t act immediately, choosing instead to continue observing.

「Soon.」

The coffin lid was thrown completely open, and a fair-skinned man slowly stood up from within.

He was dressed in black burial clothes made of printed cloth. The antique-style patterns and cut gave off a heavy, oppressive feeling. A single glance was enough to make one deeply uncomfortable, creating a vague sense of tightness in the chest, as if one couldn’t breathe.

BUZZ.

One of the Yinfeng had sharp eyes. It noticed him immediately and charged.

It was thinking: ’How is there still delicious food left alive?’

’Looks like I get the leftovers!’

「The next instant.」

SPLAT.

Its head was crushed.

The Yin Qi was devoured in a single gulp, completely gone in an instant.

Xia Yu could feel that the creature’s strength had increased a notch. The threat it posed was even stronger than the Soul-eating Ghost she had encountered during the last Mist Event.

’A Yin Corpse?’ she wondered.

Immediately after, she saw it move. It transformed into a black shadow, like a Ghost, and effortlessly killed the Yinfeng that were attacking the Mutants, one by one.

「Ten seconds later.」

Only one Yinfeng remained.

The largest one.

Meanwhile, seven Mutants were actually still alive.

BUZZZZZZ.

The last Yinfeng let out an even louder and more piercing buzz. Nearby windows shattered, and even Xia Yu had to cover her ears to keep her eardrums from rupturing.

WHOOSH.

It became an afterimage, diving down at extreme speed.

Its speed was several degrees faster than an ordinary Yinfeng.

It was on a completely different level.

’Who will win?’

Xia Yu stared intently at the scene before her, not even blinking, afraid of missing the final outcome.

WHOOSH.

The corpse tilted its head back, making no move to dodge. Instead, at a precise moment, it shot upward explosively.

The two collided violently in mid-air.

With a BANG,

the Yinfeng exploded.

It turned into a rain of flesh and blood.

An even denser and more immense ball of Yin Qi formed. Before it could even disperse, it was swallowed in one gulp by the still-ascending corpse.

Its power surged again by another thirty percent!

’It’s dead?’

Xia Yu was stunned.

’How can a newly formed Yin Corpse be this strong!’

’This isn’t a Yin Corpse, it’s a Resentful Corpse!’

Her expression changed drastically.

Under the limitations of the mist’s rules, the gap in realms between creatures from Earth and creatures from the Different Dimension Space shouldn’t be too large.

This refers to their realm, not their combat power!

That was why Xia Yu felt that the Mist Events before the Apocalypse wouldn’t pose a threat to her.

Of course.

There are always exceptions.

For example, last time, new rules formed on the spot.

And for example, this time, a Resentful Corpse has formed on-site—an even more terrifying existence!

「The next moment.」

The Resentful Corpse reached the apex of its ascent, and as it happened, it was at the exact same height as Xia Yu.

He looked at Xia Yu.

Their eyes met.

Xia Yu’s heart trembled. She felt inexplicably agitated and uneasy, and she couldn’t help but take a step back.

’Such dense resentment!’

She quickly took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

The Resentful Corpse suddenly broke into a smile.

Xia Yu’s heart lurched. She had the distinct feeling she had just been marked.

「Soon.」

The Resentful Corpse fell, landing heavily on the ground.

By the time Xia Yu reached the window, it had already vanished.

’This is bad!’

’I’ve been targeted!’

Xia Yu’s heart grew heavy.

Given the power it had just displayed, the explosion of three Crystal Cores wouldn’t be enough to kill it. Six might do the trick!

But an explosion of six Crystal Cores would kill her too!

’What should I do?’

A Resentful Corpse is powerful because of its resentment. It suffered a great injustice in life, which produced an immense amount of resentment after death. Therefore... if I can dispel the resentment in its heart, I can lower its combat power, then fight and kill it.

’That’s the only solution!’

Xia Yu turned and left without a moment’s hesitation.

Before the Resentful Corpse attacked her, she must find Nai’er and the others involved in this case, uncover the details of what happened, and deliver the true culprit to the Resentful Corpse.

Let it have its revenge.

Of course.

If the culprit wasn’t here, then...

’I’ll have to risk it all!’

For the first time, Xia Yu felt just how dire the situation was.
