I Return From Hell

Chapter 103: Chapter 96: Little Flower Begins Her Third Transformation

「The next morning, in front of the cemetery brokerage firm.」

’The Yin Qi in a cemetery should be relatively heavy, perfect for Little Flower to absorb.’

Xia Yu walked in.

The Yin Qi here wasn’t particularly heavy—nothing like the Ghost Village. It wouldn’t be enough to sustain Little Flower’s third metamorphosis, but it was better than nothing.

Something was better than nothing.

”Miss, you can call me Little Ai.”

”Find peace in the earth, return to nature. Welcome to XX Cemetery Brokerage.”

”This cemetery I’ve brought you to is a prime location. Did you happen to look it up online beforehand?”

”The environment here is great, and most importantly, the feng shui is excellent. See? There are low peaks to the left and right, and the mountain behind it is magnificent and tall. The entire landscape looks like a grand preceptor’s chair—it’s an absolutely perfect final resting place.”

The agent, Little Ai, was exceptionally enthusiastic and had a silver tongue.

You could tell she was a very optimistic young woman.

After entering the cemetery, Xia Yu found an opportunity and let Little Flower out.

Soon, Little Flower communicated a feeling to her: ’The Yin Qi here is so thin, and it’s hard to absorb.’

”Just make do.”

”Stop being so picky.”

Xia Yu said nonchalantly.

”Huh?”

The agent, Little Ai, had been subtly observing the elegant woman. When she heard Xia Yu suddenly speak, she quickly advised, ”Ma’am, you can’t just ’make do’ when choosing a cemetery plot.”

”You should be even more particular!”

”First off, you can’t pick a plot that’s been used before. Otherwise, the family might experience spiritual possession. I had one client who did that to save money, and now the elders in his family are acting all crazy and talking to themselves all day.”

”You also can’t choose a plot right up against a wall. That’ll cause conflict among the descendants.”

”You should choose one over a square meter, with clear borders and right angles. That’s a very auspicious sign.”

Xia Yu gave a noncommittal nod, not having taken any of it in.

After all, she wasn’t actually planning to buy anything.

Little Ai, however, was very enthusiastic and continued her pitch. ”This is a premium plot, only 200,000 per square meter. Shall I calculate the price for you?”

”Will you be financing or paying in full?”

”We’re running a financing promotion right now, and you can even get a negative down payment. If you buy a plot, we’ll give you 100,000, but that 100,000 must be used for subsequent funeral services at our designated funeral home.”

Xia Yu couldn’t help but glance at the plot. It was almost two square meters, and the location looked pretty average, yet it was 200,000 per square meter?

’A rip-off?’

’And a bundled purchase requirement?’

’You can’t even afford to die these days!’

”Miss, what are your thoughts? If you sign the contract now, I can help you get another percentage point off!”

Seeing that Xia Yu’s expression remained unchanged, Little Ai tried even harder.

Her sales this month were excellent; she had a chance to become the sales champion, and the bonus would be thirty thousand!

”Let’s look around some more.”

Xia Yu said calmly, ”Are there any other suitable locations? Show me more.”

Hearing this, Little Ai nodded in agreement.

As time went on, her lips grew dry and her brows furrowed. She was starting to get anxious, but her professionalism was strong, and she didn’t let it show.

「Late in the morning.」

Xia Yu’s phone rang.

She answered the call.

”Yu, I’m at the police station. I told them I was here to pick up guns, and now they’re trying to arrest me!”

”Did Zhao Guohui trick us again?”

”I’m surrounded right now.”

Xie Shaokun’s voice, on the verge of tears from anxiety, came through.

”I forgot to give Zhao Guohui a heads-up. Hold on,” Xia Yu said.

Xie Shaokun: ”...”

Immediately, a chaotic noise came from the other end of the line. It sounded like he had been captured.

She hung up.

Xia Yu looked at Little Ai. ”You were saying?”

She acted as if nothing had happened and didn’t contact Zhao Guohui.

”Whew.”

Little Ai took a deep breath, composed herself, put on a smile, and started her pitch again.

Another half an hour passed.

Little Flower finally finished absorbing all the Yin Qi here.

The completion progress of its third metamorphosis went from 0% to 1%.

Xia Yu’s brow furrowed slightly. ’Looks like there’s still a long way to go before the third metamorphosis is complete.’

”Let earthly love continue in Heaven. This is our company’s mission.”

”Miss, have you seen any you like?”

She inexplicably felt that the cemetery didn’t seem as ’cool’ anymore, wondering if it was just her imagination.

”No.”

Xia Yu said, ”Let’s try another cemetery.”

Little Ai: ”...”

She knew she probably wasn’t going to make a sale today.

「Three in the afternoon.」

Little Ai took Xia Yu to four more cemeteries.

One of the cemeteries didn’t look large, but due to its topography, the Yin Qi was especially dense.

So, after a full day, the completion progress of Little Flower’s third metamorphosis went from 1% to 7%.

”Phew.”

Little Ai was so tired her legs felt like jelly. Her mouth was dry, and she’d talked so much her lips were raw.

Xia Yu said, ”We’ll continue tomorrow.”

Little Ai: ”...”

She could only resign herself to her bad luck. On the way back, she was unusually silent.

”RING RING RING.”

Xia Yu’s phone rang again.

”Yu, I’m out. Everything’s fine.”

”And they really gave me a batch of guns, three whole boxes of bullets! They even gave us a place for target practice!”

Xie Shaokun said excitedly, ”Did you contact Zhao Guohui for me?”

’You’re giving me too much credit.’

Xia Yu instructed, ”Practice with the guns. Wait for my signal to join the next Mist Event.”

She put her phone away.

This time, she had deliberately not told Zhao Guohui beforehand, and she hadn’t even contacted him after Xie Shaokun got into trouble. She wanted to test Zhao Guohui’s sincerity.

It seemed he was very sincere indeed.

「Elsewhere.」

”Have everyone step up their training. Be ready to move out at a moment’s notice.”

Zhao Guohui ordered.

”Yes, sir!”

Little Song departed.

He and Huang Yiming had been Zhao Guohui’s assistants for many years. After Huang Yiming’s death, his spot on the special incident investigation team had fallen to Little Song.

”Group Leader Zhao, has Xie Shaokun’s backer told us the time and place of the next Mist Event yet?”

Qian Yihao asked anxiously, ”They’re not just going to freeload off us, are they?”

Although Chen Xiao felt it was unlikely, he was still nervous.

”No.”

On the contrary, Zhao Guohui breathed a sigh of relief, a rare smile gracing his features. ”She made a request. That means she’s agreed to cooperate with us.”

”This is a good start.”

Finally, the efforts of the past few days had not been in vain.

The relationship between their two sides had eased.

’We can’t let this relationship cool down again. We have to do everything we can to satisfy her reasonable requests.’

Hearing this, Qian Yihao and Chen Xiao became thoughtful.

「A few days later, at three-thirty in the afternoon.」

”Big Sister, I scored a 79 today!”

Little Nannan called, sounding very happy.

”How about Xie Shaokun?”

Xia Yu asked.

”Brother Kun... um... he’s also really good. He can guarantee that every shot at least hits the target now.”

Little Nannan said.

Xia Yu: ”...”

’Xie Shaokun’s talent for shooting is average, but at least he’s not completely hopeless.’

”Keep up the good work.”

She was about to hang up, but then she remembered her promise to Little Nannan and said, ”I hid a coin over at the unfinished building. When you go back today, find it.”

”Really? Okay! Okay!”

Little Nannan jumped up in excitement, tears streaming silently down her face.

Even through the phone, Xia Yu could feel her happiness.

”Life on earth is finite, but familial love is infinite.”

”Ma’am, have you decided?”

Little Ai looked at Xia Yu expectantly.

Her hopes of becoming sales champion were pretty much dashed; she just hoped to sell a single plot.

”No.”

Xia Yu shook her head.

Little Ai was in despair. Tears welled in her eyes, but she still didn’t lose her temper.

”DING.”

A phone notification chimed.

She didn’t look at her phone in front of Xia Yu. It was a sign of respect for the client.

”This is for your trouble,” Xia Yu said, quite satisfied with Little Ai. She added, ”I have something to do tomorrow, so I won’t be coming.”

The completion progress of Little Flower’s third metamorphosis had reached 22%.

’This young woman was a great help.’

”Thirty thousand?”

Little Ai’s eyes widened.

This... this...

”I can’t accept this!”

The grievance in her heart instantly vanished. She hurriedly waved her hands.

’If the company finds out, I’ll be fired!’

Although many of her colleagues accepted such payments, she didn’t dare, because she really didn’t want to lose this job.

”Cash?”

Xia Yu took thirty thousand in cash from her backpack and handed it over.

”No, no, no.”

Little Ai waved her hands, forcing herself to suppress her desire and refusing again.

”VROOM.”

Xia Yu was rather surprised. Paying Little Ai in the passenger seat no further mind, she started the car.

She began to consider the next Mist Event she would participate in—the Jinlan International Hotel incident.

They arrived at the brokerage firm.

As Little Ai was getting out of the car, an agent inside the office was talking loudly, ”Have you guys heard about the murder at the Jinlan International Hotel?”

”The deceased’s wife brought people with a coffin to block the hotel entrance, demanding justice!”

”Don’t believe me?”

”Why would I lie to you! The deceased’s wife is a streamer, goes by Nai’er or something. She’s live-streaming from the scene right now!”

”Holy crap, her stream has over five million viewers!”

Hearing this, Little Ai’s eyes lit up.

”This is a good opportunity.”

She murmured to herself.

’I’ll go to the hotel and pitch a plot to the deceased’s wife!’

”We’ll continue in a bit,” Xia Yu’s voice cut in. ”I need to head back first.”

Little Ai: ”...”

She even suspected that this beautiful woman had been sent by a competitor to mess with her!

Thinking of the cash offer just now, she was even more terrified!

’The professional world is so dark.’
