I Return From Hell

Chapter 116: Chapter 109: I’m Such a Moron

Little Flower conveyed a positive emotion.

”Should we keep it or not?”

Xia Yu was still contemplating, unable to make a decision.

Little Flower’s opinion was, after all, just an opinion, its reliability questionable. It wasn’t that Little Flower was lying, but that it didn’t understand the Resentful Corpse well enough and was likely underestimating its own combat abilities.

She needed to make her own judgment.

If she were to keep this Resentful Corpse, three things had to be done. First, speed up Little Flower’s transformation so it could always suppress the Resentful Corpse.

Second, her own power had to increase quickly to ensure she had the absolute strength to handle the worst-case scenario.

Third, if the Resentful Corpse’s power grew too quickly, she would have to be ruthless and destroy it!

After finishing her analysis, Xia Yu nodded in agreement. ”For now, I’ll leave it under your control. But if I feel we’re losing control, I won’t hesitate to destroy it.”

She was giving Little Flower a heads-up.

Little Flower conveyed a joyful emotion.

Xia Yu nodded, wasted no more words, and sat cross-legged. She began absorbing Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power with all her might, preparing to achieve a breakthrough before this incident was over.

To reach the First Grade Spiritual Ability Realm!

When that happened, her power would undergo a heaven-and-earth-shattering transformation!

...

...

「Cui’s Restaurant.」

It was a single-story building.

Xie Shaokun and Little Nannan had already used their bullets to take care of most of the Mutants and all of the Mutated Beasts. They were currently finishing off the remaining Mutants.

One handled close combat, the other provided ranged fire.

They coordinated seamlessly.

The Mutants were no match for them. They were cut down as fast as they appeared.

With Little Nannan’s support, Xie Shaokun could even take on three Mutants at once and kill them all!

Right now, he was guarding the entrance to Cui’s Restaurant, preventing any of the Mutants outside from getting close.

He stood like one man holding a pass against ten thousand.

Inside the restaurant’s main hall, Little Nannan held her firearm, constantly changing position to find new firing angles and provide support.

A number of survivors were cowering behind Xie Shaokun and Little Nannan.

Having gotten over their initial fear and panic, they had calmed down somewhat. Some of the bolder and more level-headed ones even had the presence of mind to whisper amongst themselves, ”What in the world is happening? Where did all these monsters come from?”

”Who knows! If it weren’t for these two saviors, we’d all be dead.”

”I’m definitely going to thank them properly when we get out of here. President Liu, we’ve been through life and death together now, you should trust me, right? After we get out, can we sign that contract?”

”Deal!”

...

”Damn it!”

In the crowd, a pot-bellied, middle-aged man’s face twisted with venomous hatred.

It was the owner of the Rottweiler!

Stroking his face, swollen from the beating Xie Shaokun had given him, he stared at the corpse of his beloved dog outside, its skull split open, and at his son next to it, bitten to death by the man-eating monsters. His entire world had collapsed, and his mind had become completely warped.

He had to get revenge!

Revenge on that damned pair!

Even if it meant he would die too!

He glanced at the formidable Xie Shaokun...

’Can’t beat him.’

He decisively shifted his gaze to Little Nannan, who wasn’t far away, and began to edge closer.

’This is the perfect opportunity.’

’Can’t wait any longer!’

”Where are you going?”

Someone noticed his strange behavior and asked.

”Go to hell!”

The dog owner suddenly lunged forward, getting behind Little Nannan and wrapping a thick arm around her neck. He shrieked hysterically, ”You killed my two sons! I’ll make you pay with your lives!”

”Haha.”

An uproar erupted.

The sudden turn of events left everyone shocked and furious.

Pulling something like this at a time like this? Wasn’t he just asking to die?

No one had expected anyone to do such a thing.

”Maniac!”

”Psycho!”

”Sicko!”

In an instant, these three words surfaced in everyone’s mind. They were the only words that could explain the man’s actions.

”What are you doing? Do you realize you’re endangering everyone?”

”Murder is against the law! Once we get out of here, you’ll face legal consequences!”

”Stop! She’s just a child.”

Everyone started shouting, but no one dared to step forward, afraid of provoking him further.

Hearing the commotion behind him, Xie Shaokun finished off a Mutant in front of him and glanced back.

”Stop!”

Seeing Little Nannan’s face turning red, his expression changed. ”Or I’ll fucking kill you,” he roared.

”Bring it on! We can all die together! All die together.”

”Haha.”

The dog owner was completely unafraid, growing even more frenzied. He tightened his arm, and it looked as though Little Nannan wouldn’t make it.

Xie Shaokun was both anxious and furious.

He regretted not having killed the bastard earlier!

If anything happened to Little Nannan, how could he possibly face Yu?

Having lost his own family at a young age, he was always sensitive about familial bonds. Little Nannan was like a sister to him, someone he cherished from the bottom of his heart. He would never allow anyone to harm her!

Never!

Suddenly,

BANG!

A gunshot rang out.

With all her might, Little Nannan had twisted the gun around, pulled the trigger, and shot her attacker.

It wasn’t a fatal hit.

”AHH!”

A bloody hole had appeared on the attacker’s stomach, gushing blood. He screamed and released his grip.

”I’ll fight you to the death!”

A young woman lunged forward.

It was the same girl who had been frozen in fear when the Rottweiler targeted her—Chen Ziqi. In just a few short minutes, she had been through so much, overcome her inner terror, and completed her own ’evolution’.

At this moment, she was the bravest one of them all!

”Quick, help me!”

She grabbed the attacker’s arm, trying to buy time while calling for help from the people behind her.

The people behind her were about to rush forward, but then they saw the attacker snatch the gun from Little Nannan!

They all froze, scared into silence.

”A bunch of trash.”

The attacker glanced at the crowd with contempt, his eyes landing on Chen Ziqi. With a vicious grin, he pressed the muzzle to her head and roared, ”You bitch! Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll grant your wish!”

”Ah...”

Chen Ziqi squeezed her eyes shut in fear but refused to let go of his arm.

The crowd then saw the attacker pull the trigger.

THUNK.

The gunshot never came.

The attacker crumpled to the ground, a military dagger protruding from the back of his head.

The crowd fell silent.

’Did I just kill someone?’

Xie Shaokun was surprised at how calm he felt.

SQUELCH.

Just then, a Mutant tackled him to the ground and sank its teeth into the back of his neck.

Blood spurted wildly.

”Get over here and help me!”

He looked up, pleading with the crowd for help.

”Ah!”

”Run!”

...

The very people he had saved turned and fled, hiding in the restaurant’s back kitchen. Not a single one turned back to help him; they didn’t even spare him a glance.

Instantly, Xie Shaokun’s heart went cold.

BANG.

It was Little Nannan who, with extreme calm, drew another gun from her leg holster and fired a precise shot into the head of the Mutant biting Xie Shaokun.

A fatal blow!

Xie Shaokun clutched the bleeding wound, got to his feet, and cursed, ”I’m such a fucking idiot.”
