I Return From Hell

Chapter 114: Chapter 107: Resentment Dissipates, Slay the Resentful Corpse?

”Brother Chao.”

”*Sob sob*... you’re still alive? That’s wonderful! We can be together again, right?”

Nai’er came to again. Her head covered in blood, she scrambled away from the Resentful Corpse, her beautiful face streaked with tears and blood.

But she had collapsed to the floor and could only push herself backward with her hands and feet, unable to pick up any speed.

Yet the Resentful Corpse continued its step-by-step approach.

The resentful energy around its body surged, denser than ever before.

”!!!”

Xia Yu’s pupils constricted.

’With such dense resentful energy, the Resentful Corpse’s combat power... it’s probably doubled!’

’This is not the time to provoke it!’

’It’s practically invincible right now!’

She remained perfectly still, trying to make herself as unnoticeable as possible. At the same time, seven Crystal Cores materialized in her palm—all the Crystal Cores she had on her.

’If these detonate, I’ll die for sure.’

’But there’s no guarantee it would die!’

BANG.

Xia Hongchun, who had quietly retreated to a corner thinking he was safe, accidentally bumped into a potted devil’s ivy placed against the wall, making a sound.

The noise almost scared him to death on the spot.

SWISH!

The Resentful Corpse, Nai’er, and Xia Yu all whipped their heads in that direction.

”Uh... carry on. Don’t mind me.”

The moment the Resentful Corpse’s gaze fell on him, Xia Hongchun’s scalp tingled and his legs went weak. He stammered out a sentence he didn’t even realize he was saying.

Nai’er: ”...”

The Resentful Corpse’s aura of resentment stopped intensifying.

”Hm?”

Xia Yu stared intently at the row of devil’s ivy in the corner.

Hotel rooms normally didn’t have potted plants, but this one did—and quite a few of them, at that. It was strange from the start.

What was even stranger was that most of these devil’s ivy plants had withered!

Only one was exceptionally lush!

”A Mutated Plant!”

Her pupils constricted as she instantly realized something.

SWOOSH.

In the next instant, a sudden change occurred.

The exceptionally lush devil’s ivy shot out three vines that wrapped around Xia Hongchun’s neck, waist, and legs. Like massive snakes, they constricted him, pinning him in place.

”Ah!”

”Help, help me!”

Xia Hongchun’s entire body was in agony. He struggled frantically, only to find the vines tightening their grip. He clawed desperately at the vine around his neck and looked at Xia Yu. ”Little Yu, save me.”

”I’m your third uncle!”

”We’re family—blood is thicker than water!”

’So now he remembers we’re close family?’

’Where was this family feeling when you were trying to swindle my family out of our land?’

’Where was this family feeling when you tried to buy our homestead for a pittance?’

Xia Yu didn’t move, acting as if she hadn’t heard a thing.

”You... you’re so cruel...”

Xia Hongchun was both furious and terrified. Soon, he couldn’t breathe or speak.

CRACK.

The sound of splintering bone echoed.

Blood trickled from the corner of Xia Hongchun’s mouth. His eyes bulged and his face turned crimson, a truly horrifying sight.

But no one in the room moved to save him.

They all watched as he died, bit by bit.

Immediately after,

BUZZ.

The Resentful Corpse turned its gaze back to Nai’er, and its resentful energy began to rise once more.

It was as if the recent incident had never happened.

Xia Yu’s expression flickered.

’It can just pick up its emotions where it left off?’

”*Sob sob*.”

”Don’t kill me.”

The Resentful Corpse grabbed Nai’er by the neck. Already severely injured, she had no strength to resist.

Seeing that she was about to be killed, she couldn’t keep up the act any longer. ”If I hadn’t lied and told you I was pregnant with your child, you wouldn’t have committed that crime, you wouldn’t have stolen Zhang Feng’s VTC, and you definitely wouldn’t have killed yourself.”

”I knew all about the games between you and Zhang Feng, but I never stepped in, and I never tried to stop you from committing suicide.”

”I’m an animal.”

”I deserve to die.”

”But I don’t want to die... I’m begging you, spare me... I...”

Her voice trailed off.

A look of sudden understanding dawned on Xia Yu’s face.

’The human heart is truly unpredictable.’

’Who would have thought that the wife who seemed to be demanding justice for her husband was actually the main culprit who drove him to his death!’

’No wonder the husband harbored so much resentment!’

Just when Xia Yu thought the Resentful Corpse was about to tear Nai’er’s head from her body...

”I... I was wrong.”

Nai’er forced the words out, her face a mask of guilt.

Instantly, she felt the grip on her neck loosen, and her body fell to the ground.

’I’m alive?’

A jolt of joy went through Nai’er. ’It seems that choosing to apologize at the last moment instead of cursing and running my mouth was the absolute right decision.’

She knew her husband best.

’Even in death, he’s the same damn fool.’

”*Sob sob*.”

”Brother Chao, you’re the best to me.”

Nai’er continued to cry and beg for mercy.

BUZZ.

The resentful energy within the Resentful Corpse plummeted.

A glint flashed in Xia Yu’s eyes.

’A Resentful Corpse is influenced by the personality and obsessions it had in life. This is its only weakness. One can only survive an encounter—or kill it—by exploiting this fact.’

’But...’

’How does Nai’er know this?’

Surprise flickered in her eyes. She clearly hadn’t expected Nai’er, who knew nothing about these things, to pull this off.

’Have to admit, this woman is a piece of work.’

’She’s certainly got a knack for sweet-talking men.’

’She can even sweet-talk the dead.’

’Impressive!’

’If she could just survive, a woman like her would surely thrive in the Apocalypse.’

’No, wait.’

’A gambling addict could never live well.’

A lot went through Xia Yu’s mind in that instant. Of course... the main reason she could afford to be distracted was that most of the Resentful Corpse’s resentful energy had dissipated, and it no longer posed a threat to her life.

’I could even fight it and kill it now!’

The resentful energy came quickly, and it faded just as fast.

In just a few seconds, the resentful energy within the Resentful Corpse had vanished completely.

Meanwhile, Nai’er was still crying, still repenting.

She seemed exceptionally sincere.

The resentful energy was almost completely gone, and the Resentful Corpse was on the verge of becoming a mere Yin Corpse.

The next moment,

”Dearest Brother Chao, I’ll never do it again...”

Nai’er was getting more and more into her act.

Suddenly,

SQUELCH.

The Resentful Corpse leaned over her neck and bit down hard.

”AH! Help me!”

”You damn corpse, get off me!”

Nai’er shrieked, her expression changing in an instant. She beat at it relentlessly, but she was too weak, and her struggles were feeble.

BUZZ.

The resentful energy skyrocketed.

But Nai’er, oblivious, was still cursing with a face full of hatred. ”You were always a useless man! You earned so little money, it wasn’t even enough to lose!”

”I only gambled for a week and you were already broke!”

”Any man who can’t support his wife deserves to die!”

”I regret ever marrying you!”

BUZZ.

The resentful energy surged again.

The Resentful Corpse’s power reached thirty percent of its peak!

”!!!”

This all happened so suddenly that even Xia Yu didn’t have time to intervene.

SWOOSH!

She didn’t dare delay any longer and was just about to make her move,

When a shocking scene unfolded:

BANG.

The Resentful Corpse slammed its fist into Nai’er’s mouth.

It punched straight through!

Nai’er’s eyes widened. The hatred in them vanished, replaced by utter terror. She wanted to beg for mercy, but found she couldn’t make a sound.

Then, in despair, she watched as a massive fist came crashing down once more.

CRUNCH.

Her head exploded.
