Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)

Mo Yuxin had long been plotting behind her calm smile. She knew the Hua family’s treacherous deeds could no longer be hidden. With calculated planning, she deliberately let Bai Xuzhen—her trusted fourth junior sister—take the lead. ”Go ahead and spread the word,” Mo Yuxin urged, her eyes glinting with mischief and determination. Bai Xuzhen wasted no time. Using her wide network within the Hongmen, she sent word to every corner of the human world that the Hua family had not only broken ancient treaties but had also committed unspeakable atrocities against the demon race. Within days, outrage exploded throughout Jongzhou. Angry letters, impassioned speeches, and secret meetings were held in every tavern and marketplace, as the Hongmen rallied the masses, demanding that the Hua family answer for their transgressions and prepare for war.

At the same time, Su Yubing—who carried her own hidden burdens and secrets—set her plan into motion. She reached out to her many connections among the human-world monks. Using every bit of her influence, she gathered a massive contingent of monks who converged on the northern slopes of Jongzhou, right at the foot of the imposing Hua family mountain. The plan was simple and brilliant: while the justice driven monks forced the Hua family into public accountability, the distraction would allow Mo Yuxin, Su Yubing, and their fellow disciples to stealthily infiltrate the innermost sanctum of the Hua family estate.

The group was an odd but inseparable mix of lovers and friends. Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing, despite their tangled past—Mo Yuxin having lost all memories of who she truly was, and Su Yubing harboring dangerous secrets about her own identity—remained bound by marriage and an unspoken understanding. Alongside them were the other four sisters. Xu Xian, with her fiery spirit and literal control over fire, burned with energy whenever she fought. Bai Xuzhen, whose affinity for water flowed effortlessly and cooled even the most heated situations, was not only fierce but also full of wit. Tianji Yuan, the master of illusions capable of turning reality into a shifting, dreamlike canvas, brought both cunning and humor to the group. And Bai Lingshu, who manipulated shadows as if they were extensions of her very soul, was as enigmatic as she was deadly.

”Hey, Xu Xian,” Bai Xuzhen teased as they gathered near the secret entrance hidden behind a crumbling archway, her eyes sparkling with mischief, ”try not to set the place on fire this time, alright? I’d like to keep my hair dry for once.”Xu Xian laughed, her voice warm and crackling like the snap of burning wood. ”You know my flames have a mind of their own sometimes,” she replied with a playful wink. ”But don’t worry—I’ll keep it under control… for you, at least.”

Tianji Yuan, with her cheerul personality , grinned broadly. ”I could make us all look like adorable puppies if that’d calm your nerves!” she joked, her eyes dancing with delight as Bai Lingshu rolled her eyes in good-natured amusement. Bái Lingshu, her voice low and teasing as she stepped out of the shifting shadows, replied, ”I would like to see my cute puppy wagging her tails.”

Mo Yuxin smiled softly, though a glimmer of worry shone in her eyes. She reached out and gently squeezed Su Yubing’s hand—a silent reminder of the bond that had weathered countless storms. ”We have to be careful,” she murmured, ”but we also have to get in there. We owe it to the great demon sage…and to the truth.”Su Yubing, whose usually serene face was now etched with desperation and resolve, responded quietly, ”I’m with you always. I’ll push my body past its limits if I have to.”

Meanwhile, outside the towering Hua family mountain, the atmosphere was electric with anger and anticipation. Hundreds of human monks, led by Su Yubing’s influential allies, had gathered in a vast, circular formation around the massive stone complex that was the Hua family estate. The estate itself was a marvel of ancient architecture—a labyrinth of courtyards, grand halls, and secret passageways, all enclosed by thick stone walls veiled in creeping ivy. Elegant eaves and fluttering red banners danced in the cold northern wind. On a raised platform at the front of the estate, the Hua family patriarch—a silver-haired man with piercing blue eyes and an air of detached dignity—addressed the assembled crowd.

”Dear monks and citizens,” he began, his voice measured and calm as it echoed off the stone walls, ”we understand your concerns and the rumors that have been spread. Rest assured, our family has always honored the ancient treaties and acted in the best interests of the people.”He paused, raising his hands in a gesture meant to calm. ”I ask you to remain patient and let us handle these matters with the dignity and respect that our traditions demand.”But the monks were not so easily placated. Their faces were set in lines of anger and suspicion. They shouted and chanted, demanding that the Hua family reveal the truth about their dealings with the demon race. The patriarch’s polite, almost mechanical words rang hollow against the roaring discontent of the crowd. Many Hua family members began to murmur among themselves or exchange nervous glances, more interested in saving face than in offering any genuine explanation.

As the voices outside grew ever louder, the inner group of six moved quietly through the back corridors of the estate. With a diversion technique honed by Tianji Yuan’s crafty illusions and Bai Xuzhen’s deft manipulation of water—creating slick surfaces that sent patrolling monks tumbling—they managed to confuse and misdirect the enemy. Mo Yuxin’s aura, charged with the raw, crackling energy of thunder, illuminated their dark path whenever the corridors threatened to overwhelm them. Xu Xian led the charge, her blazing fire acting as a fierce barrier that incinerated anyone foolish enough to get too close. Bai Lingshu wove silently in and out of the shadows, her lithe movements merging with the darkness as if she were one with it.

Their route was treacherous but meticulously planned. They made their way to a secret entrance rumored to lead to the innermost depths of the Hua family estate—a hidden dungeon where the most shameful secrets of the family were locked away. The corridors were narrow and damp, the walls covered in ancient symbols whose meanings had been lost to time. Every step was laden with determination, as the group pressed on knowing that each step brought them closer to uncovering the truth behind the great demon sage’s captivity.

Before long, they encountered two of the Hua family’s most formidable monk guards. These elite warriors, the cream of the family’s spiritual forces, had a menacing presence. One wore heavy armor that shimmered with a faint, ominous red glow, his fists crackling with controlled lightning-like energy. The other moved with an almost supernatural grace, every step accompanied by an eerie silence, as if the shadows clung to her every movement.

Without hesitation, Mo Yuxin and Xu Xian stepped forward to confront the threat. Mo Yuxin’s thunderous aura erupted around her as she advanced, each determined step accompanied by the low rumble of distant storms. ”Out of our way!” she bellowed, her voice echoing off the ancient stone. Sparks of lightning danced wildly around her as she charged straight into battle.

Xu Xian’s flames responded in kind. Her hands moved gracefully as she summoned brilliant, twisting flames that coiled like living serpents. ”I’ve got you, junior sister!” she called out, her eyes alight with fierce determination. The two fought as a perfectly synchronized pair—a seamless blend of storm and fire. Their elemental powers collided with the monk guards in a spectacular display of raw, uncontrolled fury. Thunder boomed overhead while Xu Xian’s fire roared, each burst of energy meeting the heavy, armored fists of the guards. The first monk, struggling to channel his own energy, was quickly overwhelmed by Mo Yuxin’s relentless strikes and Xu Xian’s scorching assaults. Within minutes, he crumpled to the ground, defeated.

The second monk, elusive as the shadows he commanded, proved a trickier adversary. It was then that Bai Xuzhen stepped in, her control over water taking center stage. With fluid movements, she coaxed jets of water from her fingertips, forming a whirling torrent that mirrored her graceful agility. ”Don’t get too slippery now!” she teased lightly, launching a precise blast of water that sent the shadowy monk reeling backward. With a series of coordinated moves—Bai Lingshu weaving in and out of darkness to trap him, and Tianji Yuan creating dazzling illusions to disorient his senses—the monk found himself hopelessly overwhelmed. In a final, spectacular burst of elemental power, Mo Yuxin’s thunder collided with Xu Xian’s fire, unleashing a brilliant explosion that knocked him out cold.

With the two elite guards dispatched, the group continued their stealthy advance through a maze of twisting corridors and hidden passageways. At last, they reached a massive, iron-bound door marked with ancient runes. This, they knew, was the gateway to the dungeon where the great demon sage was held captive.

Beyond the door, the atmosphere was somber and oppressive. Dim light filtered through cracks in the stone walls, casting eerie shadows across the cold, rough floor. In the center of the room lay the tortured body of the great demon sage—a figure whose tragic fate had been concealed from the world for far too long. Astonishingly, the sage was not a faceless victim; he was a revered elder, whose identity was even more shocking: he was one of Su Yubing’s own grandmothers. In truth, Su Yubing was not merely a skilled cultivator, but the current demon lord—a secret known only to herself and the demon world.

As the group stepped into the cell, Su Yubing’s eyes suddenly burned a fierce, fiery red. The sight of the great demon sage, his body twisted and broken from prolonged torment, unleashed a torrent of emotions within her. Every fiber of her being convulsed with both sorrow and a cold, vengeful determination.

”Enough,” Su Yubing whispered, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her own heart. ”I cannot let his suffering continue.”Drawing deeply on her inner reserves, despite her ailing, tattered meridians—a testament to the many battles she’d fought—she began to channel her spiritual power. In that moment, the cell was bathed in a ghostly, otherworldly light as her aura surged forth in torrents of brilliant red and indigo.

She knelt beside the chained, broken body of her revered elder, her eyes softening even as they burned with intense resolve. ”I release you from this torment,” she murmured, her voice trembling with both grief and unwavering determination. Slowly, deliberately, she raised her hand and began to weave a complex, forbidden incantation in the air—a pattern meant to sever the bonds of agony and finally bring peace. The air around her shimmered as swirling ribbons of spiritual energy encircled the great sage. Sparks of magic danced like tiny fireflies, and the very stone of the cell vibrated with the force of her will.

In a breathtaking moment that was as beautiful as it was heartrending, the great demon sage’s body began to glow with a soft, ethereal light. The tortured scars on her flesh melted away as if washed by a gentle, cleansing rain, and her labored breathing gradually turned peaceful. The spiritual energy flowed from Su Yubing’s outstretched hand, enveloping the sage in a cocoon of shimmering light. In a final, delicate flash—a kiss from fate itself—the great demon sage’s life ended, not with brutal finality but with a serene, almost transcendent release from suffering. It was as if a centuries-old wound was finally healed by the tender grace of a long-forgotten lullaby.

But the cost was steep. Almost immediately after the ritual concluded, Su Yubing’s eyes fluttered shut, and she convulsed violently before collapsing onto the cold stone floor. Blood speckled her lips as she coughed harshly, and it was clear that her body teetered on the edge of collapse. Mo Yuxin rushed to her side, panic and heartbreak etching deep lines into her face. In that unbearable moment, it felt as though her entire world was crumbling—her heart breaking at the thought of losing the one person she loved more than anything.
