Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)

”Four hundred and fifty thousand spirit stones,” Mo Yuxin repeated icily. ”Are you planning to return them? Or shall I start collecting interest?”

Bai Xuzhen visibly shuddered. ”I-I was going to pay you back! Truly! You know I would never deceive you, Second Senior Sister—”

Mo Yuxin’s cold stare intensified.

Bai Xuzhen yelped. ”B-But surely… you wouldn’t be so cruel to your poor, helpless junior sister? We are practically family, are we not?” She batted her lashes in a dramatic show of innocence.

Mo Yuxin remained unmoved. ”Family doesn’t swindle each other out of four hundred and fifty thousand spirit stones, Bai Xuzhen.”

Bai Xuzhen whimpered.

Seeing her beloved so distressed, Xu Xian finally spoke. Her tone was calm but firm.

”Second Sister, you know Bai Xuzhen’s nature,” she said smoothly. ”She is hopelessly greedy, yes. But she’s not malicious. Surely there is some… flexibility to be had here?”

Mo Yuxin exhaled slowly. ”Senior sister, if you had lent out four hundred and fifty thousand spirit stones, would you be so flexible?”

Xu Xian paused. Then, reluctantly, ”...No.”

Bai Xuzhen turned to Xu Xian, eyes wide with betrayal.

”Xianxian! Whose side are you on?”

Xu Xian coughed, looking mildly apologetic. ”Yours, of course, love. But Mo Yuxin is… not unreasonable.”

Bai Xuzhen groaned dramatically, leaning her full weight against Xu Xian. ”This is a conspiracy against me!”

Mo Yuxin finally, finally allowed the faintest ghost of a smirk to appear.

She had no real intention of demanding the full sum. She had just wanted to watch Bai Xuzhen squirm a little.

”You’re lucky I have a soft spot for you,” she murmured, her tone still cool but with the slightest hint of amusement. ”Otherwise, I’d be taking my payment right now.”

Bai Xuzhen shuddered. ”Second Senior Sister, you are too kind. Truly, an angel in human form.”

Mo Yuxin chuckled lightly, stepping back. ”You have one month.”

Bai Xuzhen immediately straightened. ”Ah, yes! One month! That is… plenty of time!” She laughed nervously.

Mo Yuxin gave her a final, knowing glance. ”Don’t disappoint me, little fox.”

With that, she turned and left, her figure vanishing down the path like an elegant shadow.

Bai Xuzhen let out a massive breath, slumping against Xu Xian. ”I barely survived.”

Xu Xian chuckled, stroking her hair. ”You really should stop borrowing from junior sister.”

Bai Xuzhen huffed. ”I regret nothing.”

Then she paused.

”...Except the part where I have to pay her back.”

The Dharma Hall on Shangyue Peak.

Su Yubing took the main seat, holding the account book with one hand and supporting her chin with the other, not paying any attention to the servants below. After the leader finished crying, she lazily raised her eyelids and said slowly, ”It seems that it is not time to collect the monthly allowance yet?”

The maid in charge stiffened when she heard this, but then she became confident again. After all, they could get spirit stones before the monthly allowance. She didn’t want to get entangled with Su Yubing, so she secretly glanced at Su Yubing, hiding the contempt in her eyes, and asked, ”Where is Yuxin Yuanjun?”

”Does it matter whether she’s here or not?” Su Yubing said disapprovingly, ”From today on, I will be in charge of all the affairs of Shanglong Peak.”

The maid frowned and her voice suddenly became sharp: ”You are not from Cangran! this is against the rules!” If Su Yubing’s cultivation was still there, she would not dare to shout like this, but now Su Yubing’s meridians were all broken, and she had no aura of a strong cultivator at all, so the maid naturally became arrogant. ”I am Mo Yuxin’s Taoist companion, so how can I not be a Yujing person? But your master...” Su Yubing raised an eyebrow and smiled, ”does not work and shamelessly stays in Cangran. Why should she receive the monthly salary?”

The maid’s face flushed red when she heard this, and her ears were buzzing. She had actually heard similar rumors before, but no one had ever pointed them out so bluntly in front of them. ”You, you, you—” She was so angry that tears flashed in her eyes, and she couldn’t even utter a complete sentence.

But she was not the only one who came to Shanglong Peak. After she was defeated, someone immediately took her place and said in a neither humble nor arrogant manner: ”Our Yuanjun was brought back by the former headmaster, Tong Rouxi. She now lives in Bailing Peak and is the elder of Cangran.”

Su Yubing pretended to be surprised. Before the maid could smile, she smiled again and said, ”I see. But I heard that the elders of Cangran all have responsibilities to fulfill, either going out to patrol the garrisons or going to Chunfengbudu to guard. How come your Yuanjun doesn’t have to do anything for a hundred years?”

Jiang sang was a guest elder brought back by the former headmaster. Who would let her accept a mission to do something? And Jiang sang herself was not someone who would take the initiative to do things. How could she be willing to go out and fight when she could be supported by Cangran? The maid was choked by Su Yubing’s question, and after a while she said, ”It was the former headmaster’s special permission.”

Su Yubing sneered, took out a plate of fruit full of spiritual energy from her storage bag, and ate slowly. The servants didn’t know what she meant, and they held back for a while, ready to say goodbye and leave, when they suddenly heard Su Yubing’s voice sound with a hint of joking.

”It’s more meticulous than raising a lover.”

The maid’s eyelids twitched wildly, and she suddenly raised her voice and said, ”Yubing Yuanjun! Be careful with your words!”

Su Yubing looked innocent: ”I never said that your Yuanjun was the lover of that person, why are you so anxious?” Seeing the happy faces of the attendants of Bailing Peak, Su Yubing raised her eyelids again, ”You are here today, so I don’t have to make a trip in person. In the future, Bailing Peak’s monthly allowance will follow the rules. As for the extra ones, please accept the tasks to earn merits to exchange them.”

After coming to Shanglong Peak and not getting any spirit stones, they were humiliated by Su Yubing. These servants who were always ”tyrannical” in Yujing suddenly became furious. They didn’t even care about etiquette and walked out in a large group. Just at this time, Mo Yuxin appeared in their sight. They immediately stopped rushing to leave, but complained to Mo Yuxin, saying that Su Yubing was extremely unbearable.

Mo Yuxin frowned, rubbed her temples, and walked into the hall.

She glanced at the carefree Su Yubing, then turned back to look at the indignant servant.

”Please, Yuxin Yuanjun, give our Yuanjun justice.”

”If Yujing doesn’t welcome our Yuanjun, there is no need for our Yuanjun to stay here.”

”May I ask if this is what the Master meant?”

...

Su Yubing looked at Mo Yuxin’s increasingly gloomy expression, and with a ”tsk,” she stood up and said, ”What’s the point of you yelling at her? Don’t you know that I have the final say in Shangyue Peak now? For example, right now, I can make the formation spirit throw you out with just a flick of my finger.”

”How dare you!” A servant was so angry at Su Yubing’s attitude that he felt dizzy.

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing’s expression which suddenly turned cold and said secretly, ”Not good.” Sure enough, the next moment, all the visitors from Bailing Peak were thrown out of Shanglong Peak, without a single one left.

Mo Yuxin sighed and said, ”Doing this will be a slap in the face of Yuxue Yuanjun. After all, she was brought back by my master.”

Su Yubing didn’t care about that. She smiled and said, ”Then why not just make her lose face? She is the elder, after all. Is she going to embarrass someone like me who is terminally ill? From now on, I will take over Shanglong Peak. This is to repay you in advance on behalf of Ying’er.”

Mo Yuxin felt that Su Yubing was wrong, but she didn’t know how to refute her. She frowned and stroked the beads on her wrist, and said, ”This matter needs Master’s approval.”

Su Yubing knocked on the table and said with a smile: ”If your master didn’t nod, how could the Shanglong Peak formation spirit fall into my hands?”

The servants from Bailing Peak were thrown to the sword training ground, causing an uproar.

”If I hadn’t dodged quickly, I would have been hit.” A disciple said with lingering fear.

”Why were they thrown out?”

”I know about this! The evil slave is bullying her master!” The disciple who answered gritted his teeth and handed the ”Hongmeng Order” to his fellow disciple. ”Look, the monthly allowance received by Yuanjun of Bailing Peak is on par with that of the headmaster, but it has been squandered in less than a month. Why do you think it is? Yuanjun never leaves the house. I’m afraid that the people at the top of the peak deceived their superiors and secretly spent all of Yuanjun’s monthly allowance. That’s not enough, but they even rely on Yuanjun’s name to go to Shanglong Peak to ask for spirit stones!”

”It’s true! If it weren’t for Senior Brother Bai Lingfeng who couldn’t stand it and exposed it on Hongmeng, we would have been kept in the dark!”
